Sports Should Unify, Not Divide Us

Of course someone's gender may mean more to them than what they think about the shape of the earth, or how much to hate jews.
I don't know.

Flat Earthers tend to ignore reality in lieu of their baseless theories and Neo-Nazis are willing to engage in political and physical intimidation to promote their views.

These both seem to run parallel with what we see from many transgender people and gender activists.
Given the gender is an identity and a bit more important than either of those two you'd mentioned, I'm not sure it's the best comparison though I see your point.
I couldn't ask for anything more.
When people say things to them like what you think about them? That you have the "good tact" to "only think it and not say it" does not mean they haven't heard it. likely dozens of times.
As a Latter-day Saint I have had a lot of people explain to me how they disagreed with me.

Most were polite about it - but many got angry - tell me that I was going to Hell and whatnot.

I never considered myself to be a victim.

Why do you believe that transgender people are victims?
Again, if you've had a meaningful conversation with a trans person, you may find there are in fact, other options.

The myth of progressive Catholicism Not even the will of God can keep the culture wars out of the Vatican.

Being more progressive is not a big draw. OTOH sticking to the basics draws people. The Latin mass draws people. Look at he age distribution of parishes. The ones with lots of kids are not progressive. Lots of white hair there and empty pews there as the high mobility folks have already left.
Well said. Tradition is the future.

I think, in time, we will see more and more immigrants that will change the Church in America.

It's all in God's hands.

US pier constructed off Gaza has broken apart

The pier was probably designed by the same folks who made the roads in my city. Bumps and potholes in the road after just two or so years.

American workmanship, my friend, is not what it used to be. :(

Edit: This is what I am talking about (city and journalist name has been omitted), from a local news agency in my area.

I submit a floating pier on heavy seas is a different animal than your pothold filld roads : )

Testing a Biblical Objection to Purgatory

Amen to that. 2024 has been a year of prayer and learning about scripture for me, and I hope every year will be like this. God has a plan for each and every one of us.
Wonderful! I'm happy to hear that!

Keep praying for the souls in purgatory- they need it.

I especially recommend the prayer of St. Gertrude.

The Use and Abuse of the Bible in the Immigration Debate.

The precedent would be a illegal needs an emergency procedure like an appendix that burst. USA hospitals, many funded with government money would perform the operation. The initiation of a immoral act of crossing the border does not necessarily forfeit the privilege of getting medical help. Strict libertarians call most wealth transfers theft, even if a fellow citizen. I would favor the life saving path. Prolonged treatment including drugs might be different but the loss is not as much as one might expect since the monies spent on treatment do get recycled back to health care workers and companies. There are illegals too that contribute to the USA, a net win in taxes. I would suggest the USA could look for ways to receive more of these people and less of the criminals and undesirables.

There are ways to recapture monies from illegals too. Tariffs on that nation's products, taxes on remittances and deductions from foreign aid packages would incentivize some nations to do more to limit their citizens from crossing the border.

To speed up legal immigration and require those visiting the USA I still like the bonding method. Should they fail to leave as expected the bond could become bounty for anyone that that turned in such an illegal. Today i saw an article of a Turkish man who said he paid 10,000 to a cartel for smuggling after he tried several times to enter the USA legally. I'll assume his intentions were to work, but at least the USA would get the 10,000 if he overstayed and the cartels nothing.

Some nations allow long tourist stays, perhaps even as much as two years. For those extensions, immigrants have to report in every so often and pay fees for each month. They also have to get a clearance to leave the country. Thus, if they did not pay fees they might be detained until they pay the fees, plus fines.

Biblically, I sure am glad that Mary and Joseph were able to leave their country when the baby males were being executed. Imagine if there is no where to go. This too needs reform to separate the bona fide asylum seekers with those just using the designation for a pretense to stay. Since immigration courts take a year to hear the cases, that is totally ridiculous and on us. Detain and make quick decisions would stop the incentive to come here illegally for many and allow the bona fide asylum seeks a safe haven. I hate to say it but there could come a time when USA citizens could be the refugees. The movie Day After Tomorrow though complete fiction depicts such a possibility. I guess overall the USA should work to be humane but take practical steps to eliminate illegal crossings or find ways to fund those crossings to eliminate some of the burden on US taxpayers.

If Joseph had followed the law Mary would have been stoned and Jesus wouldn't have been born through her. In fact the bible specifically says because he was a kind/just man he was going to put her away quietly and not shame her prior to an angel appearing to him and telling him to keep her as his wife.

Gods sabbath rest

was never prohibited. Not in God's Commandments anyway.
I had a good friend who was a seventh day and had strong beliefs about what not to do on the Sabbath. He admitted that he was not fully able to keep the sabbath but they do the best they can and limit themselves. For example when he was a truck driver he would not drive his truck for 24 hours. I would think it would be boring to sit there and do nothing for 24 hours but he was use to it.

TX GOP Adds Some Fun New Planks to Its Party Platform

Here is a beauty!

Those who have lived in the state at any point in time in the past and who earn an annual income greater than $30 million are affected by the wealth tax and would have to pay an annual tax on their wealth for as long as 10 years after they have left the state.

Another look at the moon landing.

I have to admit that starting at 6:00 he expresses my sentiments practically word for word. Which is why I go back and forth on this issue.
Specific engineering gets lost throughout history. In hindsight no surprise in this case as the space project was both complicated and a race. Once it was won funding was cut because the politicians had what they wanted. And in this instance there were reasons for some parts to quickly be lost. When parts for rockets were no longer being ordered suppliers retooled to produce something else. In some cases that would be 3 or 4 layers of retooling.

Heck, I've seen articles saying we cannot recreate Damascus Steel, which is pretty much a stand alone product.

"Happy" Memorial Day?

Heck, even Snopes had to concede that Biden checked his watch at least twice during those transfers.

A POTUS checks his watch? Oh my...

Serously, there is no defense of Trump on this point.
We all saw and heard his disdain for John McCain's POW status.

He believes service to country is for fools.

The Defense officials also confirmed to The AP reporting in The Atlantic that Trump on Memorial Day 2017 had gone with his chief of staff, John Kelly, to visit the Arlington Cemetery gravesite of Kelly’s son, Robert, who was killed in 2010 in Afghanistan, and said to Kelly: “I don’t get it. What was in it for them?”

No, a narcissists would not get it....ever.

Ukraine Aid Packages Leave Many Unanswered Questions

It didn't even last a month.
In late April, Congress waved Ukraine's colors once again while appropriating another $60 billion for the Ukraine war. Within days, though, the same people who pushed for the package on the Hill, in the White House, and throughout the Washington establishment began saying our aid wouldn't be enough for Ukraine to stop Russian advances.

They're already beating the drum for more support.

Make no mistake. My organization, the Heritage Foundation, wants Ukraine to win and America to flourish. So do the American people. What most Americans don't want, however, is for Washington to prioritize Ukraine's security to the detriment of our fiscal health and other pressing domestic priorities, such as the crisis at the southern border.

A recent poll we conducted of voters in battleground states found that three out of four respondents opposed sending more aid to Ukraine without fortifying our own border. Most (56 percent) also felt that the United States had already sent too much aid to Ukraine—and that was before this latest package passed.

They're right. Since 2022, Congress has designated more than $173 billion for the conflict in Ukraine—nearly as much as the Army's annual budget and about $1,300 per American household—and there is still no plan for victory or peace from the commander in chief. All of this, of course, comes on top of an $895 billion budget for the Department of Defense this year.
The lack of serious thought behind this massive investment is startling, and merits further scrutiny. Even as Democrats and Republicans inside the beltway congratulate one another on doing "the right thing" by shoveling another unpaid-for tranche of taxpayer dollars at the problem, there remain many unanswered questions on the war in Ukraine.

Democratic Party in full-blown ‘freakout’ over Biden????

Hmm.
So let me get this straight. Hunter Biden being accused of $1.5 million tax fraud in California could be likened to Mr. Trump's losing a similar case in NY for 300 times as much.
And he owned a gun for 11 days in Delaware based on a false application statement. Doesn't sound like the gun was used in the commission of a crime. No one in this forum hates guns more than me, but I hate hypocrisy even more. And to see millions of people who don't even think permits should be necessary making this into the crime of the century is hypocritical. What is it? Only 1 in 300 similar cases ever result in charges being filed.
Finally it's the adult, emancipated son of the current President.
Let's not forget the Trump sons were also implicated in the tax fraud.
Looking for a witch hunt and inequal justice? Just drive down from Manhattan about 150 miles on I95.
Hey, we should trust Politico, as it is center-left, according to AllSides. Yes, both sides have hypocrisy, yes, Trump is a fraudster, and yes, the Republicans are targeting Biden's son, but Biden has done a lot of stuff to make democrats panic. For myself, as a center, somewhat left dude, Biden made me panic when he started going all for the transformer movement and gender stuff on Easter 2024. Great way for Biden to lose his voter base... Call me an old soul in a young body, but this gender stuff is not good for the greater good of society.

And yes, I just violated the message in Ecclesiastes 7:10 again by wishing for simpler times again. I am not that good at following scripture, but this is something I am working on with God.

Ecclesiastes 7:10 (NIV): "Do not say, ‘Why were the old days better than these?’ For it is not wise to ask such questions."

Sports Should Unify, Not Divide Us

SQUIRREL!
We were talking about explicitly about critical thinking and I ABSOLUTELY DO think schools need to teach it.
Let me try again - I was not clear - and you ignored the second sentence of my comment.

As long as we do not introduce delusion into our analysis, we can come to the logical conclusion that a transgender person either has a mental illness, is gratifying some sexual fetish or gains some satisfaction in deceiving/controlling other people.

In regard to this topic our method of filtering out delusion is to use our innate ability to discern male from female.

I agree that our schools should teach critical thinking skills - but no one can apply them if they consider delusion in their analysis.

I see a lot of people trying to teach children to ignore or operate against their innate ability to discern male from female in an attempt to "groom" them into participating in the delusion of others or to cause them to be deluded themselves.

You cannot be pro-transgenderism and pro-critical thinking at the same time. Something has got to give.

Adam אָדָם and HaAdam הָֽאָדָם֙ / Day Yom יוֹם and Day בְּי֗וֹם bə-yō-wm,

The real question is the mystery of how one day can contain all days. Genesis is literal, yet there is a deeper meaning. In the same way we have the body, which represents this world and we have the soul that represents the world to come.

I am amazed at how a few word can tell us about all of creation. We need to be careful not to confuse day Yom that represents a 24 hour period with bə-yō-wm, which represent an age or an era. Not only in a 24 hour day. In an instant of time God created all of time, all ages and all eras. So we wonder how can a little contain so much?

Genesis 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day bə-yō-wm that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens.

I always get asked this question: YEC represent YOM the 24 hour day. OEC represents bə-yō-wm meaning all of time and all ages. They are talking about two different word with two different meaning in Genesis one and Genesis two.

The first letter in the word for day means a little that represents a lot. As they say a day contains all days and all ages. One literal, the other symbolic.

Eco Church

For sure the reign of God extends past humans but the message of the Good News is interpersonal and doesnt extend to creation.
Given that it is the good news of the kingdom, I disagree.
It seems the Commission is what we are told to do and the Mission is our (the Anglican) response - and the two don't match.
I disagree that the great commission is the only thing that we are told to do in mission.
