Biden's growing challenge:

From CNN Politics:

But now more positive retrospective assessments of Trump’s record in office are setting off warning flares for Democrats — especially as President Joe Biden’s own approval ratings remain stuck at historically low levels. In a CNN poll from April, 55% of Americans said they considered Trump’s presidency a success — a big jump from the 41% who viewed his presidency so positively when he left office in January 2021, according to a CNN survey from the time.

Did Paul's words have the same authority as Jesus'?

Yes, when he spoke for Jesus. Not every word of Paul was directly from Jesus.

1 Corinthians 7:

25 Now about virgins, I have no command from the Lord, but I give a judgment as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.
2 Corinthians 11:

17 In this self-confident boasting I am not talking as the Lord would, but as a fool.

Where were the 33 missing fish

John 21:11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. NKJV

At the time of Jesus' meeting with the disciples above there were 153 believers in the world that would begin His church.

Acts 1:16 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said, NKJV

Those present in the upper room at Pentecost were about 120. That leaves 33 unaccounted for disciples.

John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." NKJV

Jesus said that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him would have everlasting life. There were many Jews from around the world that traveled to Judea for the many festivals during Jesus' ministry. Every one of those who received John's baptism and had Jesus pointed out to them are candidates to be the missing disciples.

Acts 18:24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. NKJV

Apollos was baptized by John the Baptist. There is a good chance that Apollos saw Jesus when he was in Judea being baptizes. It is very possible somebody pointed out Jesus to him as the man that John was referring to as being the Christ.

Acts 19:1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" So they said to him, "We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said to them, "Into what then were you baptized?" So they said, "Into John's baptism." 4 Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about twelve in all. NKJV

Here are 12 more candidates that may have seen Jesus and believed in him then went back to another country.

Daily Bible Verses Easter-Pentecost | The Priestly Prayer Of Jesus | We Are Not Of This World

Hey Everyone,

Here is my reflection for today's reading - John 17: 11-19.

The KJV audio is on my site here: Daily Bible Verses Easter Season To Pentecost | Wednesday Week 7 | They Are Not Of The World | The Priestly Prayer Of Jesus Continues – Listen To the Bible! | King James Audio Bible | KJV | King James Version

My reflection goes like this:

The Priestly Prayer of Jesus continues. In these Bible verses, Jesus asks his Father to guard the disciples. Jesus says that he himself has kept them safe while he has been with them. Only Judas Iscariot has been lost to him, and this was known in advance by God and foretold in Scripture; the other disciples have been prepared for the betrayal, in order to help them not to lose heart.

The disciples are going to need to be strong on the journey ahead of them. They will need God’s help continually to sustain them on their mission to preach the Gospel and establish the Church. They will suffer persecutions, and ultimately, for most, martyrdom. Jesus asks the Father to preserve them in faith, to preserve their sanctity.

In these verses, the word ‘world’ has multiple meanings. The world was not made to be evil. It was made by God and God saw that his creation was good. It is for the world that Christ came into the world, to restore that initial and essential goodness, to return mankind to our proper inheritance.

The world, though, does not last and can often be at odds with the life of the spirit. Furthermore, through our actions, people have made some aspects of the world evil and ugly, this following the prompting of the evil one, who tempted us to follow him in sin and error. In this sense, the world is God’s enemy, tempting us still to embrace transitory, fleshly pleasures, at the expense of the immortal inheritance which can be ours.

Through their belief and their fidelity to Jesus, therefore, through receiving Jesus’ word, the disciples are not of the world. They have given themselves to the life of the spirit, and now are sent by Jesus into the world to communicate this gift to all. Through their missionary activity, they are sanctified, and through Christ’s consecration of himself to the Father on the cross. Through this, all Christians are sanctified. The words taught to us by Jesus are truth. The Word is truth.

Additionally, here is a psalm I put up today on YouTube - Psalm 84:

Biden release 14 second challenge to debate Trump - takes 5 times to get it right

President Biden was mocked by critics Wednesday over the number of jump cuts in his 14-second debate challenge to Donald Trump — with one wag on Twitter likening the brief video to “a Claymation film.”
The video of Biden, 81, was released at 8 a.m. and featured the incumbent taunting the former president to “make my day” by agreeing to a on-one-on debate.
“In a super short 14 second video, the Biden campaign needed to do 5 jump cuts because (word deleted) Joe couldn’t deliver a clean reading. Total disaster,” Trump campaign official Steven Cheung posted on X.
Question - if it took him fives time to get a 14 second comment out - how on earth will he handle a debate with no teleprompter?

The shooting took place after an off-site government meeting in Handlova. Fico was first transported to a local hospital and then taken by helicopter to a major trauma center in Banska Bystrica, about 30 kilometers away.

“There was an assassination attempt on R. Fico. He was shot multiple times and is currently in a life-threatening condition. The next few hours will be decisive,” said a statement on Fico’s official Facebook page.

The suspected gunman was detained at the scene by law enforcement officers, according to Slovakia’s state news agency TASR.

Nicodemus came to Jesus by night

John the Baptizer had a public run-in with the Pharisees (John 1:24, Matthew 3:7).

When Jesus publicly cleansed the temple, the temple authority confronted him (John 2:18).

John 3:

1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin.

2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”
Nicodemus respected Jesus, calling him "Rabbi".

Why did Nicodemus come to Jesus by night?

The Bible does not explicitly say why. I can only guess. By this time, there was increasing opposition and hostility towards Jesus among the religious leaders. However, Nicodemus did not share the same opinion as his colleagues. Though he was a member of the religious ruling council, it was not an official visit. He wanted to talk to Jesus privately to find out more about him. He came under the cover of darkness to avoid the daylight publicity. He just wanted a private conversation with Jesus without the crowd.

Better for a millstone around the neck than take innocence.

Looking for an editor/proofreader who can also format my memoir to publish on Amazon.

I am an Eastern Orthodox woman, looking for a freelance editor/proofreader to help edit, format, and self-publish my memoir.

Since I was about ten years old I’ve had glimpses into the unseen side of things. Visions, premonitions, and the like have been, if not commonplace, then at least unsurprising. I used to think all of these experiences came from benevolent realms. But now I see that some of them came from less than heavenly origins.

This memoir chronicles the peaks and valleys of my spiritual life, from my Roman Catholic upbringing, through the four decades I thought of myself as spiritual but not religious, to my arrival into the heart of Orthodox Christianity. Though I’ve made countless mistakes, the years I spent outside of the Church weren't fruitless, but provided a solid foundation for my journey toward God. They also gave me an inside view into the mindset of much of the audience I’m writing for: those who conceive of themselves as spiritual but not religious, and are taking a serious look at the Orthodox Church for the first time.

Fund churches that restore ex-LGBT

Ok, so the title is slightly misleading.

In my specific case, I was falsely accused of being homosexual. After several attempts to correct this, I've realized that I should have given up on this long ago.

So I'm thinking that maybe my best option is to move to a church somewhere on the east coast that has an LGBT recovery ministry, just like there are similar programs for believers suffering from substance abuse, etc.

Any suggestions?

Trustful Waiting and Enemy Loving Responses to Uncertainty and Vulnerability: Christian Psychology Soul Care in an Age of Conspiracy Rumors

In this article, we approach conspiracy rumor hubbub from a Christian psychological perspective. We argue that the anxious and angry participation in conspiracy theory discourse—even were such theories to be proven true—constitute two “off-the-mark” responses (namely, fearful-anxious and defensive- hateful rumor) to uncertainty and vulnerability, and that these responses flow from a distorted existential understanding of God as bad (i.e., untrustworthy, tyrannical, distant, condemning). Conversely, we also explore two “on-the-mark” responses (namely, trustful waiting and enemy loving) to uncertainty and vulnerability that flow from a biblical existential understanding of God as good (i.e., trustworthy, loving, near, generous).

Life age-during (aka "eternal life") I give to them, and they shall not perish -- into the age...

Peace in Christ.

This is the witness: that God has given to us AGE-LASTING life ( now in this mortal body for the duration of this current evil age) in His Son Christ Jesus….the true Anointed Jesus.

This age-lasting life is not found in the name/authority of another “son” of the church fathers… “another jesus”…. that is being preached in all the ”church” denominations of men where they are all mortally perishing away to the grave. The receiving of the name/authority of their jesus the antichrist has no life in it.

1Jn 5:11-13
(11) And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal (AGE-LASTING) life, and this life is in his Son.

Only those who have the true Son of God has the age-lasting life. When we believe the name/authority of their “son” that they are preaching, we don’t have that life.

(12) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

We are to believe on the name (authority) of the Son of (definite article: THE) the true God. We have “eternal life”….an age-lasting life…NOW. The age-lasting life that is to be had in the name/authority of the true Son of God is to be had NOW.

(13) These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal (AGE-LASTING) life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

This is why we must confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus who is the true Jesus. We hear His voice and confess the Lord Jesus.

Their “another jesus” that the false prophets are preaching is not the true Lord Jesus. We must renounce their “jesus” by confessing with our mouth the true Christ (Anointed) Jesus.

We are to also believe in our heart that God has raised the true Christ (Anointed) Jesus from the dead so that we are saved.

If you think that living in this mortal body for the duration of this present age is impossible, then we do not really believe that God actually raised Jesus from the dead.

Nothing is impossible for the God of all flesh to do…including keeping us mortally alive until the end of this age where then we put on immortality at the “last trump”. When this moment arrives, then there will be no chance ever for dying. Death will be utterly defeated through the true Jesus Christ. Only when we are still mortal do we still have the chance of dying. But the just shall mortally live an age-lasting life by their faith until this mortal puts on immortality where death shall never be possible again afterwards.

Rom 10:9-10 KJV
(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

We must "work out" our OWN salvation with "fear and trembling" for the duration of this age....lest we perish while still being mortal (before the moment we put on immortality to be had at the end of this age).

Php 2:12-16 KJV
(12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
(13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings:

We shall shine as lights in this world. Why? Because we continue to mortally live in this world for the duration of this age. We are to be His many "infallible proofs" to this world as we continue to live. As He lives, we live in this world showing that He is alive from the dead. We show forth the Word of life....and that life is in His true Son.

(15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
(16) Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Let him that thinks that he "stands"...that is, standing here in this world for the duration of this age...take heed lest he "fall"...fall into the grave by the destruction of our mortal body. The ends of the AGE come to us who are left standing here with the age-lasting life. We are to work out that mortal salvation with fear and trembling.

1Co 10:10-12 KJV
(10) Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
(11) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
(12) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

The true Son of God comes to give us an understanding so that we may know Him that is true and we are in Him that is true….even in His Son Jesus Christ. When we hear the voice of the True Son opening up the Scriptures to our hearing ears, we are to confess with our mouth that He is Lord…the true Christ Jesus who has the true knowledge.

Knowing the true God and the true Son Jesus Christ…who is the true Anointed Jesus that we are to hear…is the source of this age-lasting life (“eternal life”).

1Jn 5:20 KJV
(20) And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

We must confess the true Lord …the true Christ…the true Anointed Jesus.

2Co 11:3-4
(3) But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in THE (definite article) Christ.

For their “another jesus” that is being preached is not the Anointed Jesus.

It is the “antichrist” jesus….the instead-of anointed jesus that they are preaching to us.

There is NO age-lasting life to be had for those who receive the authority/name of the antichrist jesus…the anti-anointed jesus. Their preaching by Satan’s ministers of “another jesus”…a decoy jesus ….a device of Satan…is in the spirit of the antichrist. The true spirit/breath of Christ is not speaking in them. The spirit of the antichrist is instead.

(4) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

No “guile” is found in the mouth of those who preach in the spirit of the true Christ Jesus. “Guile” = “dolos” which means “decoy, trick, bait”.

Rev 14:5 KJV

(5) And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

We are to confess Him before men……confessing Him before those of the “church” of men.

Mat 10:32-36 KJV
(32) Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

(33) But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

For a man’s foes are those of his own household….our own “church” we have attended. We must leave them so that they know that we love the Father. We confess the true Lord Jesus before them.

(34) Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
(35) For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
(36) And a man's foes shall be they of his own househol
d.

He comes to give us an understanding so that we may know Him who is the TRUE One. His sheep will hear His voice and will follow Him. They will leave their “churches” in order to follow Him.

John 10:27-28

(27) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

He will give unto us who will hear His voice “eternal life”…an age-lasting life NOW..so that we shall never perish (mortally perish) INTO THE AGE…this age.

(28) And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish (INTO THE AGE), neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

John 10:28
Young's Literal Translation
and life age-during I give to them, and they shall not perish -- to the age, and no one shall pluck them out of my hand;

Expert on Our Lady of Guadalupe named master theologian on apparitions

Father Eduardo Chávez
Father Eduardo Chávez has been immersed in the study and dissemination of the message of the Virgin of Guadalupe for more than 40 years. | Credit: David Ramos/ACI Prensa

Father Eduardo Chávez, director of the Higher Institute of Guadalupan Studies and postulator of the cause for canonization of St. Juan Diego, was recently confirmed as “master Guadalupan theologian” by Cardinal Carlos Aguiar Retes, the primatial archbishop of Mexico.

The decision was made May 9 in conjunction with the Chapter of the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, headed by its rector, Father Efraín Hernández.

Chávez, who also holds a doctorate in Church history from the Pontifical Gregorian University of Rome, shared with ACI Prensa, CNA’s Spanish-language news partner, his gratitude for this appointment, committing himself to “deepen knowledge of the Guadalupan event, to disseminate it throughout the world.”

Chávez noted that “the Virgin of Guadalupe places Jesus in the heart of every human being, of every culture,” so his work as master Guadalupan theologian is to convey this message as well as “deepen, investigate, analyze, and in so doing also form” more people in the “Guadalupan event,” as the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico are also known.

UK author of transgender study: U.S. groups are ‘misleading the public’

An English pediatrician who led a comprehensive review of the safety and efficacy of prescribing transgender drugs to children is warning that health associations in the United States may be misleading the public.

In an interview with the New York Times published on Monday, Dr. Hilary Cass warned there is no comprehensive evidence to support the routine prescription of transgender drugs to minors with gender dysphoria.

Cass published the independent “Cass Review,” commissioned by the National Health Service in England, which prompted England and Scotland to halt the prescription of transgender drugs to minors until more research is conducted.

As England, Scotland, and other European countries scale back their use of transgender drugs for minors, most doctors’ associations and health associations in the U.S. continue to endorse these medical interventions. In more than half of the states in the United States, it is still legal to prescribe transgender drugs to children and to perform transgender surgeries on them.

An oasis in the European Church: World’s oldest Cistercian abbey has more than 100 monks

The Cistercian Abbey of Heiligenkreuz (Holy Cross) in Austria is the oldest in the world, dating back almost 1,000 years, and currently has more than 100 monks living there. It has never had “interruptions” in its history and is now an oasis of the Catholic Church in Europe, with love for God and others at the center of its work and with the beloved Pope Benedict XVI as an “ally.”

Heiligenkreuz is located about 18 miles from Vienna, the capital of Austria. The monks, explained the Italian newspaper Avvenire, have an average age of 49, which means they are “young” in current Church terms, especially in Europe where there has been a precipitous decline in vocations.

Four or five men each year join the historic abbey, founded in 1135, almost a thousand years ago, making it the oldest Cistercian abbey in the world.

Among the abbey’s current 103 monks, there are 11 with temporary vows and six novices, all led by Abbot Maximilian Heim.

Wyoming sorority sisters sue over admission of biological man

Six members of Kappa Kappa Gamma at the University of Wyoming are suing their sorority for admitting a man who identifies as a woman.

Represented by the Independent Women’s Law Center (IWLC), the sisters argued their case before a three-judge panel of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver on Tuesday.

The women are alleging that the sorority’s decision in fall 2022 to admit a man, Artemis Langford, violated its bylaws, which state that all members be women. The sisters have also said that Langford has harassed them in their sorority house by watching them change, taking photos, and asking “invasive” sexual questions.

Allie Coghan, a Kappa Kappa Gamma alumna from the class of 2023 and one of the plaintiffs in the suit, told CNA that Langford’s admission into the sorority caused her and her sisters to feel very unsafe in their own home.

Catholic bishops warn of polarization in Church, urge more dialogue

Three Catholic bishops warned of a growing ideological polarization within the Church and the need for civil dialogue among those with disagreements during a livestreamed panel discussion on Tuesday afternoon.

“Politics is almost a religion and sometimes it’s a sport, [but] it’s not supposed to be either,” Bishop Daniel Flores of the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, said during the discussion.

“It’s supposed to be a civil conversation … to seek what is good and make the priority how to achieve it and how to avoid what is evil,” Flores said. “And I think if we could stay focused on that, we can kind of tone down the caricature and the rhetoric that seeks to dehumanize people.”

The panel discussion included Flores, Cardinal Robert McElroy of the Diocese of San Diego, and Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota. It was moderated by Gloria Purvis, the host of “The Gloria Purvis Podcast” at America Magazine, and co-sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Catholic Charities USA, Glenmary Home Missioners, and the Jesuit Conference.

My step mum is getting baptised into the Mormon church. As a Christian should I attend?

So my step mum raised me since I was about 10 years old. My real mum moved away and has remained in my life but we don’t speak often. I became a born again Christian a few years ago and while I don’t support the Mormon church (I am aware that their baptism isn’t a true Christian baptism), I feel bad to not be there for my step mum since she wants me there. I am also worried it will make her hesitant to attend my own events if my faith is involved. I don’t want to cause division between us so I am confused about what to do… any biblical advice appreciated Sorry if this is the wrong thread/forum for this question.

I feel like an imposter as a Christian

I grew up in the church, got baptised, had my confirmation (calvinist). However, I've never really felt a passion for Christ. I pray, but I rarely read my bible. I go to church and donate, but I don't really evangelise or spread the gospel. Every time I try, it's like the seed on the rock, quickly growing and quickly dying.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this?
Please pray for me.
