I grew up in the church, got baptised, had my confirmation (calvinist). However, I've never really felt a passion for Christ. I pray, but I rarely read my bible. I go to church and donate, but I don't really evangelise or spread the gospel. Every time I try, it's like the seed on the rock, quickly growing and quickly dying.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this?
Please pray for me.

My suggestion is to read, read and then re- read, John the first chapter, understanding that the Word there is Jesus Christ. Let it really sink in, His authority, His power. Start there and understand that He is God and submit yourself to Him. Without understanding His authority and just who He is and given by the Father, it's hard to carry out His will.

Evangelism may or may not come to you naturally but it never hurts to get trained up in it. Or you can do simple things that just shows your light/His light in the world.

A lesson I had to learn is about double mindedness. That is to say, yes Christian but with a more important foot in the world than the things of God. Use your worldly capabilities for God, keep communication open to Him in all that you do.

There are different ways to spread the word. I have tracts and leave them wherever I go ... grocery stores and other stores, gas stations, bank etc. I try to leave at least 4 somewhere different places whenever I go out. May not seem like much ... but at least I'm doing something. I don't engage in society much (pretty much a home body) so don't really have the opportunity to share otherwise.

It's important to study the Word of God ... it is our daily bread of life .... try doing some topical studies and/or get some study guides in areas that come to your mind. By not doing so is likely why you are feeling somewhat empty.

Praying the Lord will help you to find ways to serve Him. Amen.

By dying to yourself, that is forsaking all thoughts about the future, and waiting on God to reveal to you whatever it is for you to receive.
And He comes up with some real surprises sometimes.

Boy hidey! Like when He answers some prayer from 6 months ago out of the blue. You would think HE'S the one leading and performing according to HIS priorities or something!

SaltAndLightTeacher, gotta agree with Dave G. - you want a passion for Jesus Christ but you are, frankly, hampering your ability to hear Him if you are resisting studying His Word. It's the daily combination of prayer and Scripture that will tenderize your heart for others and open sensitivity to His Spirit to share His love.

God bless!

Yes prayer. Trusting You, God, with this person.

"casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

Do you trust Him with every thing??
