Earth in hot water? Worries over sudden ocean warming spike

It appears ... now that I made a good point ... everyone's going to start talking about how they knew this stuff was coming BEFORE scientists started sounding some alarm.
You ability to manipulate reality in your mind to the point where it coincides with your comic book version of science and a Bible originally written in Jacobean English would be impressive were it not the case that the same power can be attained by anyone simply by abandoning their intellect, then ignoring evidence, logic, reason and a respect for meaning.

To date or not to date?

Genesis 24 12 And he said, “O Lord, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham. 13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water. 14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”

I have a prayer like this for the exact same reason, as you mentioned, so I can distinguish between my desire and God's will. One brother in Christ said God does not expect us to such things, so do think about it. But yeah, I suggest that you ask God something to happen thay you know it comes from Him.
Thank you. I’m just so scared of going against Gods will and following my own. Please keep me in your prayers.

Forgive them - for they know not what they do...

Consider the Words of Jesus on the Cross...

"Forgive them - for they know not what they do... "

Bearing in mind, Jesus in His Perfection could not pray a prayer that the Father would not answer in agreement - the prayer was answered.

Who were the 'They' ???

The Romans ? The Jews ? All of mankind ?

Upon whom did forgiveness fall ?

What happened.

In God's Love, forgiveness fell firstly on the Jewish Apostles in the early Church including Paul (a Roman of Romans) through who's ministry forgiveness also fell on the Gentiles.

So all of the above...

With this evidence of God's Love and Forgiveness is there a place left to despise the Jews by blaming them for the death of Jesus?

Is there a place to withdraw Love for the Jewish people who do not know what they did.

Is there a place to withdraw Love for the Jewish people today who still don't know what He did.

Hatred for Jews or any race has no place in a Christian world view.
Forgiveness can he hard for me, especially forgiving others. We must forgive everyone, regardless of origin.

Justice Thomas raised crucial question about legitimacy of special counsel's prosecution of Trump

Are you serious ? There are no facts that point to any crime committed by Trump. This DA can't even name a crime he used as basis to make past statute of limitation misdemeanors a felony.
Were that actually the case, I'm surprised the trial got this far in the first place. But, since neither one of us is a lawyer, nor are either of us experienced in NY law, I'd guess the lawyers involved know more than we do.

At the very least, I suspect your own bias may be coloring your interpretation of the legal intricacies.

We'll just have to see how it all plays out.

I desperately need help (Hebrews 6)

My heart is so corrupt
When we are born again God gives us a new heart. WE become a new creation all becomes new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Sins that lead to death ,Vengeance, and unrepentance

My Dad is 92
There are five or six scriptures that talk about how we can add years onto our life. I have a grandmother that lived to be 100 and the pastor in my church lived to be 100. They were both reasonably healthy up to the end.

IQ among Americans is falling

The standard test has remained pretty much the same. That's how we know how people scored decades ago, relative to people today. But your impression of the emphasis on the test is pretty much spot on.

Estimated IQ of Vincent Van Gogh goes up to 200 making him way smarter than Albert Einstein.

But if Vincent took modern IQ tests (where the test questions are already relevant in his time period), I doubt he's going to make it past 100.

Vincent can definitely ponder the meaning of life, has tremendous capacity for imagination and insight of the human condition. I read his letters, Vincent would actually make a good philosopher, not just an exceedingly talented artist. But he would fare poorly in IQ tests where the emphasis is on "how good of a cog you are in the machinery of commerce".

Experts who IQ'ed Vincent Van Gogh must be using a different standard of measure. If that same standard is used and Americans are faring poorly that is a reason for concern. A sign that the populace is losing touch with reality and the truth.

Please pray for my Dad and Step-Mom

Another update:

My Dad and Trish are doing very well. Best of all, he told me that a Pastor comes in every Sunday to conduct church services. And.. God is bringing two friends in Christ to talk with Him. God is moving! THANK ALL YOU WONDERFUL FOLKS FOR PRAYING!

Very glad to hear that of them. Stay strong and steadfast. May the Lord continue to pour His grace upon your family.

Praise be to the Lord.

Please pray for Noah

Noah is a homeless man who has hit rock bottom. He lost his job, his house, all his money, and has been in jail for drug possession. Please pray for the right rehab to take him in, for housing, food and all his needs, and delivery from panic attacks and fear. Most of all please pray for the Lord to restore the joy of his salvation and surround him with brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless!
Our Father in heaven,

We come to You, Lord to intercede for Noah. We pray for a clear path and open doors to help him get back on his feet. Protect him Lord from all harm to body and mind. Heal him Lord from all infirmaries, bind his heart and lead him back into the community of Christ's body.

In the name of Christ Jesus we ask, Amen.

Ohio legislature has not acted to waive its ballot deadline (as it has done in the past) meaning Biden may not appear on November ballot

An obscure provision of Ohio law could keep Biden off the ballot in November

President Joe Biden might not appear on the November 2024 presidential ballot in Ohio. Ohio law requires that presidential candidates be certified – that is, the state must be notified that presidential candidates have been officially nominated – 90 days before the general election in order to get on the ballot. That is the earliest deadline of any state.

But the Democratic National Convention that will formally nominate Biden won’t open until nearly two weeks after Ohio’s Aug. 7 deadline. The Republican National Convention will wrap up nearly three weeks before the deadline, so Donald Trump won’t have a problem getting on the ballot.

The 90-day deadline has often caused trouble since its adoption in 2010. Only in 2016 did both parties’ conventions take place before the Ohio cutoff date. Both conventions took place after the deadline in 2012 and 2020, and legislators extended the deadline both times.

There are ways to resolve this problem, as two other states with early deadlines have already done. Washington state officials said they will accept a provisional certification of Biden’s nomination before the convention. And Alabama’s Legislature shortened its deadline so that Biden could qualify for the ballot there.

Neither solution seems likely in Ohio, where Republicans may be seeking to make life harder for the Democrats’ presidential nominee.

--

Now, Republican Secretary of State Frank LaRose has just send a letter to the Chair of the Ohio Democratic Party stating that he does not believe the legislature is going to grant an extension so the DNC is going to be forced to either change the date of their nominating convention to satisfy Ohio Republicans, or take them to court.

The Biden Campaign and the DNC has been largely silent on this issue, apparently attempting to resolve this behind the scenes through negotiations. However, LaRose's letter makes it clear that the time for a settlement to this appears to be at an end with Ohio Republicans prepared to force Democrats to take them to court.
Making people write in “Biden” would likely backfire, ushering in new voters who can see what a power play this would be, “we will limit your selection by law, mwahahahaha!”

JK Rowling calls 'crossdressing' men 'one of the most pandered-to demographics in existence'

Like I said, I never thought I’d see the day where people on CF are like “Well, JK Rowling isn’t so bad…” It’s wild to watch the goalposts move over the years. ^_^
She IS Christian. She was raised nominally in the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) and was a member when her daughter was born. She now identifies with the Scottish Episcopal Church (Anglican) but has experienced doubt.

Remember many authors of gothic fiction identified as deeply religion Christians.

I don’t see it as a laughing matter.

Poll - will Joe Biden Debate Donald Trump on National TV?

It was really unfortunate that some African Americans think Trump was worth voting for?
Strange way to apologize
I'm pretty sure he was saying it was unfortunate what he previously said.

Well, of course he is trying to win over everyone's vote. But yeah to assume that there aren't any Conservative blacks is bad but to then tell them that they aren't black if they vote for Trump is pretty horrendous, especially coming from a white guy.

Are they cases against Trump falling apart?

Trump's defense lawyers have 10,000 motions to delay the trials--and a judicial accomplice in W. Palm Beach.
Trump is not a victim of a witch hunt. All the motions filed on his behalf, clogging up the justice system to deny voters the truth, show that he is receiving much more deference than the average defendant.
Why in Texas they might have convicted up to 10 men of murder and sentenced them to death in that period of time--and historically many of them would have IQs of 66 and coerced confessions.
Two tier justice is alive and well.

Many reasons why the COVID vaccines are NOT the Mark of the Beast

Most if not all of your arguments are good. I can only add to what you've provided. The mark of the Beast is largely a willful identification with a Satan-possessed man, the Antichrist. People may not think of him as "the Antichrist," but certainly he will represent evil. When people choose evil over God, then the die is cast.

No, the vaccine is *not* the "mark of the Beast." We may trust God by taking something that is unproven to be good or bad, but is offered as a cure. Our hope is in the next life, regardless.

My belief is that the mark of the Beast, 666, represents an Empire, a revived Roman Empire that once again is pagan. It is the great apostasy--Europe used to be the home of Christianity, and is now turning away from it. 666 represents the "Latin man," or the original King of Rome. It indicates that when Europe turns back to paganism it is the Beast Empire. That's when we need to separate ourselves completely from it because it will completely hate and persecute Christianity.

In other words, there will be no question about what the mark of the Beast is when it arrives. It may very well be a physical mark in the forehead or hand, or it may even be something spiritual. What is clear, however, is that God is judging who has truly taken the mark.

You can see this in Ezekiel, where a mark was actually spiritual, and seen by angels. It was the opposite of the mark of the Beast, because it was a mark on those who were faithful. But it may, in the last days, actually be a physical mark, or tattoo of some kind, indicating who has chosen to follow the pagan Roman emperor. There will be no mistakes because it is not something accidentally taken or forced upon people. It will reflect their actual choice.

Eze 9.3 Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the Lord called to the man clothed in linen who had the writing kit at his side 4 and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
5 As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. 6 Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark.

Rev 7.3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
Interesting points. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

Alito Flew ‘Stop the Steal’ Flag in Front of House

No one is "saying" Alito did this. The photo evidence is there. Neighbors took pictures of his beach house flag.
And the public deserves to know he is violating ethics to promote his agenda.
I can't help but remember when President Obama, in his SOTU address, criticized the Court's Citizens United decision at the start of their decline into partisan incompetence, Alito said, "Liar."
Your honor, your actions show what an astute judge of flawed character President Obama is.

Michigan School Shooter, 15, charged as adult on murder, terrorism - parents may also be charged

Furthermore, that ship has already sailed in some regards. We're already an incredibly armed society. Those guns don't magically stop working with the passage of new legislation. At best, we'd notice a modest decrease in 20 years. Once everyone's already got them, many people don't want to be the only one without one, correct?
Very true, very true, there are already enough firearms out there to arm every man, woman, and child in the nation so they aren't going anywhere, even if they are not allowed to be legally sold. I'm no expert on how to reduce gun violence but I would feel better if we just reduced the size of magazines available. Every time someone has to reload, there is an opportunity for a few seconds to get under cover, run away, or attempt to disarm the person. Still, I think that is more idealistic and wishful thinking. I really have no way to determine if even that would be effective.

Places like the UK and many places in Europe and Asia have those laws and have a minuscule amount of gun violence in their countries compared to the USA however, they didn't start off with about 400 million firearms already in circulation so it's a different scenario. Your post was full of solid logic and I think the idea of cleaning up the guns in the US is just a fantasy. So it's like "I better get mine because the next guy has one" is not a disordered thought. It's more likely disordered thinking to believe that we can stop the gun violence problem by simply banning them.
The example I've used before... Prohibition as a means of cutting down on alcohol related incidents worked great in Islamic countries. Egypt and Saudi Arabia have the lowest drunk driving rates in the world.
Exactly, trends need to be changed by society, not by just making more laws and they have some serious penalties in Saudi for bootlegging booze. It's a kingdom with no Constitution that I know about and they could do anything from whip you to cutting off a piece of your anatomy and they have the death penalty for more than just murder without the same appeal system we have. We have a gun owning culture in the USA and without a massive universal shift in thinning by the vast majority of citizens, that's not going to change.

Let me ask you this.......Knowing that I agree that it is impossible to remove guns from our society, can you think of any way that gun violence can be reduced significantly? The only thing that I can think of is either people on their own decide to properly secure their firearms thereby not letting them get into the hands of criminals or God forbid, their own mentally unstable children. I don't think the government has the resources nor the practical ability to properly regulate how people store their weapons. Seemingly the government's only resource would be to severely penalize people who allow their weapons to get into the wrong hands. Do you believe with the laws we have, there is any way to curb gun violence?

Was Paul Sick?

Let’s look at these two main points, (1) The ailment mentioned in Gal 4:13-15 and (2) The “large” handwriting mentioned, and other possible reasons for these.
1. The ailment - Gal 4:15 “Where then is the blessing ye spake of? For I bear you record, that, if (it had been) possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes and given them to me.”
Here Paul speaks specifically of having a “physical infirmity”, and there is no doubt that he had some type of physical ailment that had something to do with his eyes. From this scripture we can come to three basic conclusions about this ailment.
1. Since this ailment was not specifically named and the word infirmity can mean both sickness and malady (injury), there can be no specific conclusion as to what it was specifically.
2. We can safely assume that this infirmity was healed, because there is no other mention of it in all of scripture. To follow this line of thought you would have to ask if Paul was seriously injured around this time.
3. Did something happen to Paul on his first missionary journey in Galatia. The answer is Yes.
We have to remember that Galatia is an area in the middle east that incorporates a variety of cities. Turn to Acts to see the account of his first missionary journey and your will find:
Acts 14:19-20 NKJV “then the Jews from Antioch and Iconium (cities just outside Galatia) came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. However, the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabus to Derbe(the first city in the region of Galatia).”
Just before entering Galatia the Jews stoned Paul to the point they though he was dead. Paul had to be a mass of bruises and welts especially around the head. The head was the main target of those doing the stoning. It is very possible that Paul was beaten so badly that his injuries made him look pitiful.
But what about the “large writing”, the scriptural answer to this is clearer than his ailment. Let’s look at some examples;
1Cor 16:21 “the salutation of (me) Paul’s with mine own hand.”
Gal 6:11 “Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.”
2Thess 3:17 “the salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.”
Phil 1:19 “I Paul have written it with mine own hand…”
We have to remember that during the first century, writing was something not known by everyone. In fact, the Scribes and Pharisees are partnered throughout scripture, because it was the Scribes that wrote the words of the Pharisees. For Paul (a Pharisee) to be able to write was an unusual talent at that time. That is also why he and so many of the other writers had scribes to do their writing.
In regards to Gal 6:11 “ye see how large a letter…” The word translated large is the Greek word is pelikos - a quantitative form. The word literally has to do with the quantity of the letter, not the size. This shows clearly Paul is speaking about how long a letter he had written.
I don't think so because when Paul wrote long letters he treated them as if they had been written "briefly." So I do think it had to do with the size of his letters, which characterized him in his eye problems.

I know people who due to age have to see letters written "large." My brother, who has been a minister, and who belongs to a denomination that believes in miraculous healing, has a serious problem with glaucoma. It has been a great concern to him, even though he's been walking faithfully with the Lord for many years.

Certainly Paul could've been injured during one of his experiences of persecution. But we are not told that. What we are told is that in his suffering some Christians wanted to help him with his eyes.

This isn't a game of Clues. The Lord would tell us if we needed to know. So why not just accept that this is all we have? Perhaps it was God's will to leave this ambiguous so that each person can read the same message into his own ailments?

Please help to ignite the Great Re-Awakening in Europe

So far so good. It's a short book, not much over 50 pages or so on STM (short term missions) but even though we're doing longer term missions in Europe, chock full of good thoughts on the collective thinking and organization that works. A real emphasis on teamwork and preparation. Got another book recommendation when we mentioned it to one of the mission trainiers, Mind of a missionary that we're also interested in looking into.
