This seems a rather strange position. It's entirely possible to call out both candidates on their lies. That's what I would expect any objective person to do.
Sure. But comparing them as if they are equal ignores the important and significant differences. Kind of like comparing a summer shower to a fierce hurricane.

But I can understand why you would want to downplay Biden's lies. Anything to make sure Trump doesn't get elected again, amirite?
I downplayed Biden's lie because it's far less serious and massively less dangerous to the nation.

-- A2SG, Biden's view on inflation didn't incite anyone to storm the Capitol, for one thing....

I'm not talking about Trump's lies or comparing Biden's lies to them. You are. So you can downplay Biden's lies.

Yeah, because they're the same kind of lies every politician has said since there have been politicians. They all overemphasize their accomplishments.

At best, it was an exaggeration. Was inflation at 9%? Yeah, some months later than he claimed. Did his policies bring it down? Apparently so.

As I said, as lies go, pretty benign.

-- A2SG, even without the comparison....

Stating that inflation was at 9% when you took office is not an "accomplishment". It's a lie.

At best, it was an exaggeration.

Say it with me: It was a lie. Inflation was at 1.4% when Biden took office, nowhere near 9%.

Was inflation at 9%? Yeah, some months later than he claimed. Did his policies bring it down? Apparently so.

Actually, inflation is higher now than when Biden first took office. And Biden was President for 16 months ("some months" indeed) before inflation hit 9%. The current inflation rate is around 3.5%, 2.5x higher than when Biden took office.

As I said, as lies go, pretty benign.

I suppose so. But he succeeded in snookering you into thinking that inflation is lower now than when he took office. So in that regard, I suppose the lie was pretty successful.

Look, I'm not here to defend the lie. As I said, as lies go, it was a pretty benign one...especially when compared to Trump. And even putting Trump aside, we've all heard worse ones.

So, when it comes time to choose between the two candidates we're likely to get, the distinction is very clear.

-- A2SG, your mileage may vary, of course.....

No, but you are apparently here to downplay it.

Yes, the two candidates we're likely to get are awful. God help us all.

Yeah, because it really isn't all that bad, as lies go. We've all heard much worse ones.

Yes, the two candidates we're likely to get are awful. God help us all.
Sure...but one of them is much awfuller.

And, let's face it....even if there were a candidate in the race that you completely approved of, one you'd enthusiastically vote FOR, I'm willing to bet that person has lied at one point in their life, about something.

We're all human. We've all lied, at one point or another.

-- A2SG, and yes, some are worse than others.....
