Then you're proposing that the gates of hell did prevail against the Church. That stands in direct contradiction to our Lord's promise in Matt. 16:18 and the Nicene Creed.
You will note that I didn't mention the "rock" of Matt. 16:18 at all, only that the Church will not ever be lost.
Brother, the church prevails in the end, as prophesied in Revelation! The Bible tells us of a period when God's holy people were oppressed. God's people were delivered into the hands of an oppressor who spoke against the Almighty and attempted to change established times and laws. This mother church prevailed for a time, giving us many human traditions that we Protestants are still shedding in our search for truth in God's Word.

He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time. (Daniel 7:25 NIV)

"Prevail" here means "overpower," κατισχύω, which does not admit an interpretation of "temporarily being overcome, but prevailing in the end."

Also, the Creed doesn't allow for the possibility of the Church being an unholy promoter of sin, even temporarily.

Brothers, the light is the word of God guaranteed by the prophets and does not come from non-prophets who have given us papular human traditions like Sunday that have canceled the word of God about the Sabbath in the fourth commandment.

Jesus replied, “You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commandments from God.’ For you ignore God’s law(nomos)/commandment(entolé) and substitute your own tradition.” Then he said, “You skillfully sidestep God’s law(nomos)/commandment(entolé) in order to hold on to your own tradition. For instance, Moses gave you this law(nomos)/commandment(entolé) from God: ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ In this way, you let them disregard their needy parents. And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others.” (Mark 7:6-13 NLT fixed)

Brother, the scripture gives light, that's true

This is what I was referring to, though

Brother, no! There are those who claim to follow Jesus, but don't, like our mother church, which abandoned the Sabbath for Sunday in the fourth commandment.

Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ (Matthew 7:21-23 NLT)

No! Our mother church has apostatized, and Protestants must return to the truth about the Sabbath.

He gave a mighty shout: “Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen! She has become a home for demons. She is a hideout for every foul spirit, a hideout for every foul vulture and every foul and dreadful animal. For all the nations have fallen because of the wine of her passionate immorality. The kings of the world have committed adultery with her. Because of her desires for extravagant luxury, the merchants of the world have grown rich.” Then I heard another voice calling from heaven, “Come away from her, my people. Do not take part in her sins, or you will be punished with her. For her sins are piled as high as heaven, and God remembers her evil deeds. (Revelation 18:2-4 NLT)

The "rock" is Jesus and not Peter as an excuse given by our mother church to replace the Sabbath in the fourth commandment with Sunday.

I don’t want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, about our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. All of them were guided by a cloud that moved ahead of them, and all of them walked through the sea on dry ground. In the cloud and in the sea, all of them were baptized as followers of Moses. All of them ate the same spiritual food, and all of them drank the same spiritual water. For they drank from the spiritual rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ. Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. (1 Corinthians 10:1-5 NLT)

Brother, can the body of Christ, with Christ as the head, fall into error on the whole?

Brothers, if Jesus is the head of our churches, biblical evidence demonstrates that the Sabbath is fixed in the creation time zone and separated from the seventh day of the week everywhere except at the place of creation. The Sabbath falls half a day before the seventh day of the week in Jerusalem, half a world away from the place of creation. No church, to this day, preserves this biblical truth because we have been listening to human translators defending human traditions that contradict the original message of God's word. No Christian church currently maintains the Sabbath free from human tradition since Joshua, corrected under the new covenant in Hebrews chapter 4.

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. GOD ANNOUNCED THIS THROUGH DAVID MUCH LATER in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.” Now IF JOSHUA HAD SUCCEEDED IN GIVING THEM THIS REST, GOD WOULD NOT HAVE SPOKEN ABOUT ANOTHER DAY of rest still to come. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. (Hebrews 4:1-11 NLT)

The human tradition of the Sabbath since Joshua of getting the days of the week wrong, because the Sabbath is half a day before the seventh day of the week in Jerusalem, is acknowledged in the following video, explaining how God in the above passage by "oath" prevented Joshua from entering the Sabbath by making him keep the true seventh day of the week for 40 years with manna, which is half a day too late to enter the Sabbath near Jerusalem as punishment for their disobedience.

Brother, the church you are talking about listens to the word of God and no one is listening to Hebrews, chapter 4.

Jesus replied, “I have already told you, and you don’t believe me. The proof is the work I do in my Father’s name. But you don’t believe me because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.” (John 10:25-30 NLT)

If anyone is listening, here is Jesus speaking through Paul about the Sabbath, the seventh day of creation, as something so important that if we fail to enter into it, we will "fall."

Bible is not dictated by God, Bible is not perfect, Bible is not exhaustive and Bible has its cultural limitations.
Oh, wow!

Then we have no basis for discussion, for my premise is always that Scripture is the God-breathed word of God (2 Tim 3:16).

That's a matter of faith.

Brother were the Christians in Corinth in the body of Christ? Were they listening to the word of God?
Brother, yes! They had Paul's guidance to help them grow under God's leadership. Some were listening to Paul while others were branching, following other leaders. Paul wanted them unified under God's leadership by not dividing over human leaders that were not prophets as Paul was.
I think everyone here agrees there are tares among the wheat
But if a person has a wrong understanding of some passage of scripture, are they no longer in the body of Christ?
We have the example of our mother church in the Bible: if that body is full of sin, we are called to "come away from her" so that we "do not take part in her sins, or you will be punished with her." This should have been the effort of Protestantism: to cast off the sins of our mother church by returning to the truth of God's word, but nothing was accomplished with the Sabbath until God gave us a prophet to bring us back to the truth of God's word. Without God's continual intervention, we would all be lost in sin.

He gave a mighty shout: “Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen! She has become a home for demons. She is a hideout for every foul spirit, a hideout for every foul vulture and every foul and dreadful animal. For all the nations have fallen because of the wine of her passionate immorality. And who is this prophet?
Brother, our prophetess Ellen G. White prepared our church for the following truth about the Sabbath in Hebrews chapter 4. Her inspiration coincides with Paul's correction of the Sabbath in the letter to the Hebrews about another "day" of rest, without her or the church understanding her message for the future.

Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. (Hebrews 4:8 NLT)

My church has not changed "when it is" that evening falls as the next step in her message to advance our understanding of the Sabbath, expressed above. The church has stopped moving forward, maintaining the erroneous tradition of Judaism since Joshua, previously expressed by Jesus through Paul in Hebrews chapter 4. I know that evening falls in the middle of the first day and not at the beginning, as Judaism supposed, because of the Sabbath in Jerusalem, which falls half a day before the seventh day of the week in Jerusalem. This is the message of our prophetess for the future, which our church does not yet understand: the need to change "when it is" that evening falls on the days of the week, as something so important to God in Hebrews chapter 4 that we will fall if we disobey God like those who died during the 40 years in the wilderness.

I saw that it is even so: “From even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.” Said the angel: “Take the word of God, read it, understand, and ye cannot err. Read carefully, and ye shall there find what even is, and when it is.” I asked the angel if the frown of God had been upon His people for commencing the Sabbath as they had. I was directed back to the first rise of the Sabbath, and followed the people of God up to this time, but did not see that the Lord was displeased, or frowned upon them. I inquired why it had been thus, that at this late day we must change the time of commencing the Sabbath. Said the angel: “Ye shall understand, but not yet, not yet.” Said the angel: “If light come, and that light is set aside or rejected, then comes condemnation and the frown of God; but before the light comes, there is no sin, for there is no light for them to reject.” I saw that it was in the minds of some that the Lord had shown that the Sabbath commenced at six o'clock, when I had only seen that it commenced at “even,” and it was inferred that even was at six. I saw that the servants of God must draw together, press together. (Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, Page 116)

The human tradition in Judaism of getting the days of the week wrong, because the Sabbath is half a day before the seventh day of the week in Jerusalem, is acknowledged in the following video, explaining how God by "oath" prevented Joshua from entering the Sabbath by making him keep the true seventh day of the week for 40 years with manna, which is half a day too late to enter the Sabbath near Jerusalem as punishment for their disobedience in Hebrews, chapter 4.

That's a matter of faith.
It is a matter of facts. Bible was not dictated by God word for word, but underwent a long process of development and the human authors used their worldview, cultural vocabulary, sentence structures, various sources, their own memory etc.

Also, the writings were for specific times, situations or audience. None was specifically for us.

Bible is useful, but it is not an idol and we must understand what it is and how to read it. For example, if somebody defends slavery in our situation today because Leviticus set some rules for ancient iron age Israel regarding slavery, then they do not understand the context of the text.

This is not an SDA teaching, this is this persons unique view. The video that he keeps posting has nothing to do with the SDA church. Sadly they have hijacked the name to post against what SDA's believe. I believe there is a commandment that addresses this type of witness. I take no issue with someone having unique views, just claim them as your own and not a church who has established beliefs we agree to when joining which one can find here What do Seventh-day Adventists Believe?

Brother, yes! They had Paul's guidance to help them grow under God's leadership. Some were listening to Paul while others were branching,
The ones who were branching, were they still part of the body of Christ?

Peace be with you, my brother in Christ

...following other leaders. Paul wanted them unified under God's leadership by not dividing over human leaders that were not prophets as Paul was.

We have no basis for discussion. . .

If you say so... we would both need to accept facts and use critical thinking, to have a basis for discussion. Dogma is not a basis for discussion.

Documentary of Bible prophecy and history of the scrolls of the OT, which is what we have in our Bible today for those who are interested

It is religious, Seventh Day Adventist preaching. To call something "documentary" you need critical thinking, actual scholars, acknowledge facts, have a general knowledge of the issue, present it in an objective way and so on.

The reality is that the OT books have been developing through centuries and several quite different textual lines emerged. Which produced for example the inconsistencies between the OT and the OT citations in your Bible, even in key prophecies.
