Why are there Christians who are saying the Jubilee will 'actually' take place, with 'all' debt 'actually' being literally cancelled ?

Why are there Christians who are saying the Jubilee will 'actually' take place, with 'all' debt 'actually' being literally cancelled. And in addition: loads of gold being lifted from hidden reserves under the Earth (!) Some christians have said the Jewish year of Jubilee was supposed to be 2023 and some have it in 2025, whatever the date is not my primary focus - my primary question is: do people believe this?

I have some good friends who actually have been telling me this, and I cant figure out where they are getting this from (?)

'I' have understood that the Jubilee would be observed when all twelve tribes of the Jewish nation are living in Israel, as is derived from verses in Leviticus 25 like "And you shall sanctify the fiftieth year, and proclaim freedom throughout the land for all who live on it”
I know the Jewish people do not currently or officially declare or celebrate the Jubilee, primarily because they respect the popular rabbinical notion that all 12 tribes including the 10 'lost' exiled tribes need to again be living in the land of Israel again. Yet, where are 'christians' getting the notion of a literal Jubilee coming?

The Catholic Church has a christian version of the Jewish Jubilee, as noted in the following article below:

"The next Jubilee will be in 2025 and there is great expectation among the faithful from all over the world. Its importance is also recognized and respected by other faiths around the world. The last Jubilee was the extraordinary one of 2015 wanted by Pope Francis. The one that will take place in 2025 will be the second with Pope Francis. As many know, the Jubilee is a special year of grace, in which the Catholic Church offers the faithful the possibility of asking for a plenary indulgence, that is, the remission of sins for themselves or for deceased relatives"

BUT I am not asking about with this. I'm asking about christians who are anticipating that a literal forgiveness of all literal present debt will be forgiven (seemingly before the second coming of Jesus?) And in addition: loads of gold being lifted from hidden reserves under the Earth (!)?.

Where are they getting this from, and has it passed?

The Heavens Proclaim His Righteousness

“The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice;
let the many coastlands be glad!
Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.”
“The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory.
All worshipers of images are put to shame,
who make their boast in worthless idols;
worship him, all you gods!” (Psalms 97:1-2,6-7 ESV)

Who is the Lord? He is our God, the one and only true God – Father, Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit – three distinct persons and/or personalities in one God. He is also our creator God who made the earth and all that has life in it on the earth. He always existed and he will always exist, which is difficult for our human minds to comprehend. And he is fully supreme and sovereign and in control and in power and authority over all that he has made. And no one and nothing can thwart his purposes or overcome him.

And righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. And what is righteousness? It is all that God deems right, that he approves. And so it is honesty, integrity, moral purity, faithfulness, uprightness, kindness, love, repentance, compassion, and obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice. And what is justice? It is fairness, righteousness, honesty, integrity and judgment which separates good from evil, and right from wrong, and which makes just and righteous decisions regarding right and wrong.

In Romans 1:18-23 we read these words (ESV):

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.”

So, this parallels what we just read in Psalms 97 with regard to the sovereignty of God, and his righteousness, and his judgments, and with regard to the heavens proclaiming his righteousness so that all the people see his glory. So God is not hidden from the people of the world. We can all see him and his attributes via his created works. And this also parallels what Psalms 97 talks about on the subject of idols and idolatry, as well. For even though the knowledge of God is not hidden from humanity, many people go after the gods of this world to worship them instead of the only true GOD.

And the sad reality is that it is many who profess faith in Jesus Christ who are worshipers of idols and false gods in place of true worship of the God of the universe who made all created things. For an idol or a false god is not just a physical statue of someone given the name of a false god. But it is anything that we give our loyalties, devotion, time, affections, passion, and worship to above and/or in place of true worship of our creator God. And true worship of God is in surrendering our lives to him fully. And it is a refusal to be conformed to the ways of this sinful world (Romans 12:1-2).

Therefore, because our God is righteous, and he is just, and he judges all human beings according to his righteousness and justice, and because he made us and he is sovereign over all that he has made, and thus he sets down the rules that we are to follow, and because God has made himself known to us, so that we are all without excuse if we choose sin and idolatry over him, we are being called upon here to give our worship only to God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – and to no other gods. And so we are also being called upon to live righteously and no longer in sin and in idolatry.

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

Abram instructed Sarai, "Say you are my sister"

There was a famine in Canaan in Gen 12. Abram took Sarai to Egypt to escape the famine. He instructed her:

13 "Say you are my sister, that it may go well with me because of you, and that my life may be spared for your sake.”
Did Abram tell his wife to lie?

Sarai was Abram's half-sister. It was a half truth—or half lie. The statement was meant to deceive the Egyptians. It was a lie in heart.

Gill explained:

though it was not putting a direct lie into her mouth, she being his sister in some sense, as appears from Genesis 20:12 yet it was done to conceal truth, and to deceive the Egyptians, and tended to endanger his wife's chastity,
Abram jeopardized his wife's honor.

as well as showed great timorousness in him, and distrust of the divine care and protection of him;
It showed Abram's deficiency of faith in God.

and upon the whole it must be criminal in him, and shows that the best of men are liable to sin, and the strongest believer to fall, and that a saint may fail in the exercise of that grace for which he is most eminent, as Abram was for his faith, and yet fell into unbelief, and through that into other sins; this he said to his wife, and desired her to say on occasion, when she found it necessary: that it may be well with me for thy sake; his life spared, as follows:
and my soul shall live because of thee; his life be safe and secure for her sake, being reckoned her brother, whereas he feared it would be in the utmost danger should it be known she was his wife.
Abram used/manipulated his wife to save his own skin. His scheme worked only because God interceded and worked with sinners like Abram and us.

What was the reason the story of Abram telling Sarai to tell people that she was his sister and not his wife included in the Bible?

It shows that the Bible writers told it like it was. They did not try to cover things up.

Abram would learn to grow in faith in God as he walked with God more and more.

Is the US Anthem/Motto Unjust?

Should we replace the National Anthem/Motto carte blanche?

As the “National Football League will feature the singing of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the song originally known as the “Negro national anthem, now known as the “black national anthem" to reportedly be sung, , after the actual national anthem of the United States.” What are we to make of this divisive outlook?

NFL, the “woke sports league” - Brigitte Gabriel
The song should be made “illegal.” – Benny Johnson
Roger Goodell, NFL commissioner “seriously damaged America” – Dennis Prager
“America has only ONE National Anthem and that Anthem is color blind” - Kari Lake

There appears a subliminal fear going on and it wishes to push itself onto the American psyche right into our national motto: E Pluribus Unum, "From many, one". Already a relic described as “traditional”, to reinvent the motto to another is divisive. What other damaging effects is this fallout likely to have? Surely, a knee-jerk reaction from fear of mass repercussion, the attention has swept the sporting world. NFL, NBA, MLB, USTA have all agreed to either couple with or abandon altogether the Nation Anthem for the “black national anthem”. The Super Bowl will “honor” both.

Rarely sung, the third verse which enjoys the defeat of the “band who so vauntingly swore” America would lose its independence:

No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Brigitte rightly links the “woke” ideology due to its incessant quest to abolish the past. Why do certain members of the citizenry wish to abandon the truth of the past? What is the root of anything that wishes to impose such a darkened trait? Does this root provide refuge already established by some pre-existing response? Is there such a hardness people are prone to harbor? One does seem to indicate so,

“, , because of your hardness and unrepentant heart, you are treasuring up to yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgement of God, who “will give to each according to his works,” to those who indeed with endurance in good work are seeking glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those of self-interest and disobeying the truth but being persuaded about unrighteousness, wrath and anger; tribulation and distress upon every soul of man working evil” (Romans 2:5-9)

The meaning of 666 and its identity

Revelation 13:16-18
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

In the book Book of Revelation Chapter 13:16–18, the Textus Receptus manuscripts of the New Testament, cryptically asserts 666 to be 'the number of a man' associated with the Beast of revelation.. Some manuscripts of the original Koine Greek use the symbols χξϛ chi xi stigma (or χξϝ with a digamma), while other manuscripts spell out the number in words. But there are a few that try to misdirect or say it is another number or put in the margin that some 'authorities' that 'read Six hundred and sixteen.' or 'one early ms has the letters for 616'

But it is clear that it is 666 and today this has become one of the most widely recognized symbols for the Antichrist. Now the number 666 in and of itself doesn’t mean anything bad. Sometimes something might cost 666 dollars, or someone’s address or phone number might contain the numbers '666' and many other examples. But in the Bible this number does have significance, in the final verse of Revelation 13 we find an identifying clue for the Beast: 'Here is wisdom. Let him that has understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred sixty and six.'

So the Bible tells us that this number '666', is the number of a man, symbolized by the first beast of Revelation 13. Notice that “666” is not the “mark of the beast,” but is an identifier, something that helps us to identify who or what that beast is. This Beast is identified elsewhere as Babylon, which brought false worship and confused the people with it. You have to understand that false worship had spread from that to the true God, to the created objects such as the Sun, Moon and Stars. The ancient Babylonian false worship was basically development of star worship of what were created objects they saw. The heavenly bodies were seen as gods and worshipped as a supernatural beings. We find the sun, moon were identified with Shamash, Sin, and the planet Venus with Ishtar, Jupiter was Marduk, Saturn was the war god, Mercury was Nebo, Mars was Nergal, god of the dead as we find in history.

This system of identification was taken over and modified by the Greeks and Romans, using the names of their own deities. But when the Greek sailors and soldiers went to the temples they had to know or identify the "gods" or religious system they were worshiping, so the use of numbers/letter symbols of which "god" the temple was dedicated to or worshipped. We see the same system of identity in use today with the use of symbols on monstrance icons or on books, altars, baptismal fonts, communion hosts, letters which also have numeric meaning.

The use of "IHS" is translated some claim as a symbol for the name of Christ. As Greek has its own alphabet and in it “Jesus” is spelled “ιησυς” and when capitalized it becomes “ΙΗΣΟΥΣ”. The claim is that if you take just the first three letters of this word or “ΙΗΣ” which are the Greek letters “iota”, “eta” and “sigma”. When these letters are converted into modern alphabet it becomes “IHS”. However, no one can explain how these letters came about and their meaning with any certainty or real evidence which "god" they may represent.

The Roman Catholic priests hold up a monstrance during their high mass, and the form of a monstrance is that of a circular window which contain a host, which symbolizes the sun. It is surrounded by a golden rays of the sun emitting all around that circular window which contain "IHS" in the form of a host. This sunburst monstrance with the round host that symbolize the sun encased for the people to adore and venerate and so anytime this pagan sun symbol is viewed by the congregation, they kneel in submission. If you look you find that "IHS" is also the mystery name that the Roman Catholic churches have on their altar, on their vestments, when they say mass. You find this in the definition of "monstrance"...

mon·strance /ˈmänztr(ə)ns/

noun (in the Roman Catholic Church) an open or transparent receptacle in which the consecrated Host is exposed for veneration.

Now only is the symbol also on their host but they claim it becomes or transformed into the actual body of Christ, but we will leave that for another discussion. So letters in Greek had numeric meaning and these letters were used to identify what system of worship or "gods" the temples were dedicated to or followed.

We see in Revelation 13:18: “18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." The thing that throws most people off is when they look just at the "number of the man" 'anthrōpou' or 'of a human being' and then we are given the number which is 666. The number can represent the system of worship and at the same time show it is led by a "human being" not God, so we see how the number can be used to identify this antichrist entity, which at the same time is represented by a man.

Now as many will argue many other names, such as Nero, or Mohammed, or a king of Israel, none of these can be it as they do not fit the things it does or the length of its power, especially when it comes to the timeline which stretches to the end times. But we have to understand what prophecy in Revelation tells us and it gives us clues to follow of this system of worship which is led by a man..

The first day of the week -- vs -- "the Lord's day" or the new "Sabbath" in the NEW Testament

Most of us here would agree that the resurrection was on week-day-1 -- (what we call Sunday today).

However when it comes to the New Testament and the weekly day of worship found there --

1. Not ONE text in the NT says "the Sabbath is now kept on the first day of the week"
2. Not ONE text in the NT says "we now keep the first day of the week as the Lord's Day"
3. Not ONE text in the NT says "we meet for worship every week day 1"
4. Not ONE text in the NT says "We meet on week day 1 in honor of the resurrection on week day 1"
5. Not ONE text in the NT says "The Lord's day is on week day 1"
6. Not ONE text in the NT says "Ignore the Commandments of God"
7. Not ONE text in the NT says "ignore scripture, ignore what the Holy Spirit says"

NOTE: Those points are irrefutable - and you can see how they are avoided in the opposing posts ....

Mark 7:7-13 condemns Jewish tradition that tries to run over one of the Commandments of God

What we DO Find in the NT is
1. "what matters is KEEPING the Commandments of God" 1 Cor 7:19
2. "the saints KEEP the Commandments of God AND their faith in Jesus" Rev 14:12
3. "this IS the Love of God that we KEEP His Commandments" 1 John 5:3
Where "The first commandment WITH a promise is - Honor your father and mother(Ex 20:12) " Eph 6:2

We also find this in the NT
1. "the Gospel was preached to Abraham" Gal 3:8
2. there is only ONE Gospel Gal 1:6-9
3. The "Gospel was preached to us just as it was to them also" Heb 4:2
4. the NEW Covenant of Jer 31:31-34 quoted verbatim in Heb 8:6-12
5. Moses and Elijah stand in glory with Christ in Matt 17 - even before the cross.

=========== by contrast EVERY reference to the weekly Sabbath in the NT refers to the seventh day of the week - Saturday

Acts 18:4 4 And he (the Apostle Paul) reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks."

Acts 13:42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.

Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul.

Which is inline with Is 66:23 where we find that for all eternity after the cross in the New Earth of Rev 21 - "from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all mankind come before Me to worship" (far from it being deleted 2000 years ago)

======================================

If this is the case - then keeping week-day-1 instead of the seventh day -- as either "the new Sabbath" or as your own personal "Lord's day" is a preference or a later tradition rather than something that comes to us from the actual New Testament.

No wonder - almost every Christian denomination on Earth affirms the continued *"unit of TEN" for Christians today - the list includes;
  • The Baptist Confession of Faith section 19
  • The Westminster Confession of Faith section 19
  • Voddie Baucham
  • C.H. Spurgeon
  • D.L. Moody
  • Dies Domini by Pope John Paul II
  • D. James Kennedy
  • R.C. Sproul
  • (others...)
* - unit of TEN in verbatim unchanged form or else "edited" by man's tradition

Those groups above are at some level of agreement with Michael Youssef of Leading The Way ministries as we see here --
The Ten Commandments (Part 5)

God said what?

Calvinism presents the idea that God has chosen a group of people for damnation. In the same way, He chose and elected a group for salvation. This group chosen for damnation can never be saved according to Calvanism's teaching. God created them to display His wrath.

Now if this were true, fine, but if it is not true it is an attack on the very nature of God. An attack on His goodness and forbearance.

Now I would like to assert that this Calvinistic idea is not at all of God. That God did not create man to destroy them.

Genisis shows us firstly, that God was shocked at how bad man had become, and He wished He had not created them.

Gen 6:5-7 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them."

The fact that God wished he had not created man, shows us that He certainly did not plan their wickedness, He did not desire it to display wrath.

The scripture also shows us that God has a desire, even a longing, to save even the wicked, but it is them who are unwilling to be saved.

Mat 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!

That verse alone should settle the issue.

But there is more, all of the Early Church leaders who came after the apostles, within a generation or two, believed that man was "not" predestined by God to damnation. They taught that man has free will to choose life or death. Yet, a Calvinist will look to people who came 100's of years later, who taught what they teach, as if it was from the mouth of the apostles. Yet ignore that those close to the apostles taught against Calvinism.

So I ask the reader who opposes this, are you sure you are doing God a favor, protecting His honor, and word? Are you not maybe destroying the opinion of God in the ears of those you teach?

Irenaeus (120-202 AD) in his Against Heresies - Book 4 Ch 35-38 shows clearly that it is man's free will choice to choose or reject God.

Chap. XXXVII. — Men Are Possessed of Free Will, and Endowed with the Faculty of Making a Choice. It Is Not True, Therefore, That Some Are by Nature Good, and Others Bad.

1. This expression [of our Lord], “How often would I have gathered thy children together, and thou wouldest not,” (Mat 23:37) set forth the ancient law of human liberty, because God made man a free [agent] from the beginning, possessing his own power, even as he does his own soul, to obey the behests (ad utendum sententia) of God voluntarily, and not by compulsion of God. For there is no coercion with God, but a good will [towards us] is present with Him continually. And therefore does He give good counsel to all. And in man, as well as in angels, He has placed the power of choice (for angels are rational beings), so that those who had yielded obedience might justly possess what is good, given indeed by God, but preserved by themselves. On the other hand, they who have not obeyed shall, with justice, be not found in possession of the good, and shall receive condign punishment: for God did kindly bestow on them what was good; but they themselves did not diligently keep it, nor deem it something precious, but poured contempt upon His super-eminent goodness. Rejecting therefore the good, and as it were spuing it out, they shall all deservedly incur the just judgment of God, which also the Apostle Paul testifies in his Epistle to the Romans, where he says, “But dost thou despise the riches of His goodness, and patience, and long-suffering, being ignorant that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou treasurest to thyself wrath against the day of wrath, and the revelation of the righteous judgment of God.” “But glory and honour,” he says, “to every one that doeth good.” (Rom 2:4, Rom 2:5, Rom 2:7) God therefore has given that which is good, as the apostle tells us in this Epistle, and they who work it shall receive glory and honour, because they have done that which is good when they had it in their power not to do it; but those who do it not shall receive the just judgment of God, because they did not work good when they had it in their power so to do.

Justin Martyr (110-165) brings up the topic of Predestination (Fatalism) and says it is not what the Church believed in his day

Justin Martyr - First Apology - Ch 56-50

Chap. XLIII — Responsibility Asserted.

But lest some suppose, from what has been said by us, that we say that whatever happens, happens by a fatal necessity, because it is foretold as known beforehand, this too we explain. We have learned from the prophets, and we hold it to be true, that punishments, and chastisements, and good rewards, are rendered according to the merit of each man’s actions. Since if it be not so, but all things happen by fate, neither is anything at all in our own power. For if it be fated that this man, e.g., be good, and this other evil, neither is the former meritorious nor the latter to be blamed. And again, unless the human race have the power of avoiding evil and choosing good by free choice, they are not accountable for their actions, of whatever kind they be. But that it is by free choice they both walk uprightly and stumble, we thus demonstrate. We see the same man making a transition to opposite things. Now, if it had been fated that he were to be either good or bad, he could never have been capable of both the opposites, nor of so many transitions. But not even would some be good and others bad, since we thus make fate the cause of evil, and exhibit her as acting in opposition to herself; or that which has been already stated would seem to be true, that neither virtue nor vice is anything, but that things are only reckoned good or evil by opinion; which, as the true word shows, is the greatest impiety and wickedness. But this we assert is inevitable fate, that they who choose the good have worthy rewards, and they who choose the opposite have their merited awards. For not like other things, as trees and quadrupeds, which cannot act by choice, did God make man: for neither would he be worthy of reward or praise did he not of himself choose the good, but were created for this end; nor, if he were evil, would he be worthy of punishment, not being evil of himself, but being able to be nothing else than what he was made.

Justin Martyr - Dialoque with Trypho

Chap. CXL. — In Christ All Are Free. The Jews Hope for Salvation in Vain Because They Are Sons of Abraham.

...Furthermore, I have proved in what has preceded, that those who were foreknown to be unrighteous, whether men or angels, are not made wicked by God’s fault, but each man by his own fault is what he will appear to be...

Chap. CXLI. — Free-Will in Men and Angels.

...But if the word of God foretells that some angels and men shall be certainly punished, it did so because it foreknew that they would be unchangeably [wicked], but not because God had created them so. So that if they repent, all who wish for it can obtain mercy from God: and the Scripture foretells that they shall be blessed, saying, ‘Blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth not sin;’...

Love God? Hate Evil!

“O you who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the lives of his saints;
he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous,
and joy for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
and give thanks to his holy name!” (Psalms 97:10-12 ESV)

In the New Testament this word “love” is most always in reference to agape love, which is based in moral preference, and which means to prefer what God prefers. For the believer in Christ it means to prefer to live through Christ, to embrace God’s will, to choose his choices, and to obey them in his power. And what God prefers is what is holy, righteous, godly, upright, morally pure, honest, discerning, integrity, faithful and obedient to God. And all throughout the Scriptures we are taught that love for God is obedience.

So, if we truly are preferring what God prefers, then we are going to hate evil like he does, too. Yet we are not to hate evil people, but we are to love them, and do good to them, and pray for them, and say to them what will be of benefit to them, as God would regard as beneficial. But we should hate the evil that people do, and we should, thus, not desire evil in our own lives. We should have no part with evil, but we should be servants of the Lord Jesus who make righteousness and obedience to God our practice.

Now, who are the saints? They are not “good people” who some religious people decided to designate as “saints.” In the New Testament a saint is a person who has been set apart by and for God who is holy, i.e. different from (unlike) the world because he is being conformed of God into the likeness of nature of the Lord Jesus Christ. So he is someone who is also not conformed to the pattern of this sinful world, but he is living in obedience to the Lord in walks of faith in holy and godly living, in the power of God, by his grace.

But this is not optional for the believer in Jesus Christ. For if our faith in Jesus Christ is God-given and God-persuaded faith in him, then our faith is going to conform to the divine character and will and purpose of God for us who are followers of Christ. And we can’t be a true believer in Jesus and not be one of his followers, either. For if we are of God-ordained faith in Christ it is going to result in death to sin and living to righteousness and walks of obedience to our Lord in holy living, though not necessarily in absolute perfection. But lack of perfection should not be used to excuse willful sin.

Now what does it mean that God preserves the lives of his saints and that he delivers us from the hand of the wicked? For are we not taught in the New Testament that God is going to allow us to suffer greatly at the hands of our enemies for our walks of faith in Jesus Christ? Yes, this is true! We are taught that we will have enemies who will hate us, and who will do evil against us, and who will persecute us if we are true followers of Jesus Christ, and especially if we are those who are spreading the truth of the gospel.

So, this is not a promise to us today that we will not have to suffer at the hands of the wicked or that we will not have to suffer in all sorts of other ways because we are in flesh bodies on a fallen earth. It just means that God is our sanctuary, and he will uphold us and sustain us through the trials of our lives, if we will keep putting our trust in him and not in the flesh. If our faith is in him, he will carry us through whatever we have to go through, and he will give us the strength that we need to endure.

And with regard to deliverance, he may not always deliver us physically from our difficult circumstances, but he will deliver us through those times by teaching us to rely on him for our support, and by training us in holiness and in righteousness and in faithful endurance. He will keep us from falling if we put our trust in him and if we do not choose to run away from him, instead. So he will deliver us from the influences and the lies and the deceptions of the enemy if we will remain steadfast in him and not give up hope.

With regard to “light,” I believe this is speaking of spiritual, not physical light, though the two do parallel themselves in many respects. For spiritual light has to do with Jesus Christ, who is the Light, and with truth and righteousness and the revelation of God’s holy word and the gospel. And light helps us to see (discern) spiritually what is good and evil. And the righteous are those who are living according to God’s divine character and will and according to his word and all that God deems as right and just.

Again, this is not claiming absolute perfection, for we are all still a work in progress while we still live on this earth in these flesh bodies. But our Lord has “drawn a line in the sand” in separating “the sheep from the goats,” and it all comes down to what we practice. What the Scriptures teach, basically, is that we are what we practice. So those who make a practice of lying are liars, and of thieving, are thieves, and of adultery, are adulterers, et al. So if sin is what we practice and not obedience to our Lord, the Scriptures teach that we will not inherit eternal life with God, regardless of what we profess.

So, if you want to have the joy of the Lord, then you must hate evil and love God and his righteousness and prefer to obey him and to not obey sin.

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

How will Gun Control Defend our 1st Amendment?

I'll start this topic with this video so people can see who the bad guys are who want to take our rights away.

Login to view embedded media

There can be no dispute that Democrats want to confiscarte all guns. Though how will that protect our 1st Amendment Right if we abolish (or abrogate the 2nd Amendment as Newsom has suggested) the 2nd Amendment? After all, our founders placed so much importances on the 2nd Amendment that they made our 2nd Amendment! They gave us the right to free speech and religion and freedom of the press. Then they said, oh, you're gonna need a gun. For our founders knew full well that corruption is neverending in politics, that our own government would seek power over the people at any given chance. Countries that have banned all guns were all countries that are now pages of the worst parts of the 20th century. Countries like Russia, Germany, China and others banned guns for the purpose of controling the people. This control, of course, was every aspect of life, from who you worship to what you will eat or drink etc.

Many times now we have seen Democrats talk about the buy back system. Well this is eactly what the Nazis did to make sure the German people would not rise up and overthrow them. We have never ever seen anything good come from gun control. And with guns being more popular then Democrats today, why are we even talking about this? I guess its because the Democrats are still trying to ban guns and ammo. Right now Democrats have placed an 11% tax on all ammo. This tax will go up and up and up with the intension of taxing us out of ammo. But with ammo being more popular today then Democrats, why are we tolerating this? We need to protect our Bill of Rights or we will no doubtedly lose them all.

Democrats want to revoke our right to even conceal carry. Well won't think give crminals soft targets everywhere they go? Sure it would! At least with concealed carry criminals need to think and consider where they are before committing crimes. I can't remember what state this took place in, but not too long ago there was a mass shooter at a grocery store. If that event took place where I live that shooter would have had so many holes in him he would have been hard to identiy. This is because we I live we are all packing. Almost everyone you see in the grocery store has a gun. Even in our more conservative churches every person in church is packing. This is because of all the mass shootings. Yet we only see these mass shootings happening in states and cities run by leftists. They have empowered criminals to the point where they have full reign over these states and cities run by leftists. But in states and cities where leftists have little to no say, crminals are scared to commit a violent crime because of how many people are carrying guns. The more people conceal carry the more violent gun crimes will drop. But if Democrats get their way the only people with guns will be the bad guys! Eventually the corrupt government will have guns and we will be defenseless. Then what? How will the government have protected us from guns when they are the criminals behind gun control?

I guess it all boils down to this simple answer. If you own a gun for hunting, self-defense, or sport shooting, then you vote Trump. If you want to see the government become the mafia with every citizen unarmed, then you vote Biden or Democrat.

Though I think its safe to say that gun control is the most unpopular view in the country right now. If you are worried about your 2nd Amendment Right you can donate to the NRA or the Second Amendment Foundation. I donate to both. These donations help win court cases across the country. I will continue to donate until this issue no longer remains an issue.

It would be pointless if not irresponsible of me to write all this without providing an answer to our problem in America. I think Americans need to get back to reality. Better yet, ultimate reality. We need to be able to understand how mentally unstable people are becoming and how to identify mental health issues quicker before those mental health issues escalate. Moreover, as unpopular as this is to the left, encouraging faith in God again should be made a priority again. When America was a God fearing nation we did not have all these mass shootings and other violent crimes like we see on a grand scale today. It was the left that has caused so much spiritual depression in this country which has caused people to completely lose their morals. Think about it, how much morality does one have to lose to shoot up a school full of little children? Oh, you better believe a person needs to lose all morality before they go and do something that evil!
I think its safe to say we are all strongly opposed to mass shootings and violent gun crimes. Though we conservative strongly believe this is a spiritual and mental issue that should be addressed properly. I'm a gun owner. I know many gun owners. I'll be at a meeting tomorrow with a room full of gun owners. Not one gun owner I know is capable of shooting up a school. All these people I know have far better morals than to do something so vile. So if anybody is truly serious, and I mean serious, about fixing the problem we have in this country in regards to mass shootings, then I urge you to take the right course and abandon your thoughts on gun control and place your attention on the mental health state of our nation.

Best Sermon on Drunkenness

Part of a sermon preached by Samuel Ward in 1622. The 2 paragraphs at the end are mine, as I sent this to my Dad who has been sober and saved now 54 years, and also married the same amount of time.
Myself, I'm 6 years sober, but only 5 without any drink at all.
(i spell corrected the "olde" English but there may be some that snuck through my editing.)

Seer, art thou also blind? Watch-man art thou also drunk,* or asleep? Or hath a Spirit of slumber put out thine eyes? Up to thy Watch-Tower, what descriest thou? Ah Lord! what end or number is there of the vanities. which mine eyes are weary of beholding? But what seest thou? I see men walking like the tops of trees shaken with the Wind; like Masts of Ships reeling on the tempestuous Seas. Drunkenness, I meane, that hate∣full Night-bird, which was wont to wait for the twilight, to seeke nooks and corners, to auoide the houting and wonderment of Boyes and Girles: Now as if it were some Eglet to dare the Sun∣light, to fly abroad at high noone in every street, in open Markets and Faires without fear or shame, without controule, or punishment, to the disgrace of the Nation, the outfacing of Magistracy and Ministry, the utter undoing (without timely prevention) of health and wealth, Piety and Virtue, Town and Country, Church and Commonwealth. And doest thou like a dumb dogge hold thy peace at these things, doest thou with Salomons sluggard fold thine hands in thy bosom, and give thy selfe to ease and drowsiness, while the en∣uious man causeth the noysomest and basest of weeds to over-run the choicest Eden of God? Vp and Arise, lift vp thy voyce, spare not, and cry aloud? What shall I crie? Crie woe and woe again unto the Crown of pride, the Drunkards of Ephraim.*

Take up a parable, and tell them how it stingeth like the Cockatrice, declare unto them the deadly poyson of this odious sinne. Shew them also the soveraigne Antidote and Cure of it, in the cup that was drunk off by him, that was able to overcome it: Cause them to behold the brazen Serpent and be healed. And what though some of these deaf Adders will not be charmed not cured; yea, though few or none of this swinish heard of habitual drunkards, accustomed to wallow in their mire, yea, deeply and irrecoverably plunged by legions of Devils into the dead sea of their fil∣thinesse; what if not one of them will be washed and made clean, but turn again to their vomit, and trample the pearls of all admonition under feet; yea, turn again, and rend their reprovers with scoffes and scorns, making jests and songs on their Alebench: Yet may some young ones be deterred, and some novices reclaimed, some parents and Magistrates awakened to prevent and suppress the spreading of this gangrene: and God have his worke in such as belong to his grace. And what is impossible to the worke of his grace?

Goe to them now ye Drunkards, listen not what I, or any ordinary hedge-priest (as you stile vs, but that most Wise and experienced royall Preacher) hath to say unto you. And because you are a dull and thick-eared generation, hee first deals with you by way of question, a figure of force and impression. To whom is woe, &c.* You use to say, Woe be to hypocrites. It's true, woe be to such and all other witting & willing sinners, but there are no kind of offenders on whom woe doth so palpably inevitably attend as to you drunkards. You promise your selues mirth, pleasure, and jollity in your Cups, but for one drop of your mad mirth bee sure of gallons and tons of woe, gall, wormewood and bitterness here and hereafter. Other sinners shall tast of the Cup, but you shall drink of the dregs of God's wrath and displeasure. To whom is strife. You talke of good fellowship & friendship, but wine is a rager and tumultuous make∣bate, and serts you a quarrelling, & meddling. When wit's out of the head and strength out of the body, it thrusts even Cowards and dastards unfenced and unarmed into needles frayes and combats. And then to whom are wounds, broken heads, blue eyes, maymed limbes
▪

You have a drunken by-word: Drunkards take no harme, but how many are the mishaps and vntime∣ly misfortunes that betyde such, which though they feel not in drink, they carrie as markes and brands to their graue. You pretend you drink healths and for health, but to whom are all kind of diseases, infirmities, deformities, pearled faces, palsies, dropsies, headaches? If not to drunkards. Vpon these premises he forcibly inferrs his sober & serious advice. Looke upon these woeful effects and evils of drunkenness, and look not upon the Wine, looke vpon the blew wounds, vpon the red eyes it causeth, and look not on the red colour when it sparkleth in the cup. If there were no worse then these, yet would no wise man be overtaken with Wine: as if he should say, What see you in the Cup or drink, that counteruaileth these dreggs that lie in the bottom. Behold, this is the Sugar you are to look for, and the tang it leaves behind.

Woe and alas, sorrow and strife, shame, poverty and diseases; these are enough to make it odious, but that which followeth withall, will make it hideous and fearefull. For Salomon duly considering that he speaks to men past shame and grace, senseless of blows, and herefore much more of reasons and words insisteth not vpon these petty woes;* which they, bewitched and besotted with the love of Wine, will easily ouer-see and o∣uerleape: but sets before their eies the direfull end and fruite, the black and poison full tail of this sin. In the end it stingeth like the Serpent, it biteth like the Cockatrice (or Adder) saith our new Translation. All Interpreters agree, that he means some most virulent Serpent, whose poison is present and deadly. All the Woes hee hath mentioned before, were but as the sting of some Emmet, Waspe or Nettle, in comparison of this Cockatrice, which is even unto death; death speedy, death painful, and wofull death, and that as naturally and inevitably, as Opium procureth sleepe, as Ellebore purgeth, or any Poyson killeth. Three forked is this sting, and threefold is the death it procureth to all that are stung therewith.*

The first is the death of grace, the second is of the body, the third is of soule and body eternal. All sin is the poyson wherewithal the old Serpent and Red Dragon enue∣noms the soule of man, but no sin (except it bee that which is unto death) so mortal as this, which though not ever unpardonably, yet for the most part is also irreco∣uerably, and inevitably vnto death. Seest thou one bittē with any other Snake, there is hope & help. As the Father said of his son, when he had information of his gaming, of his prodigality, yea, of his whoring: but when he heard that he was poisoned with drunkenness, hee gave him for dead, his case for desperate and forlorn. Age and experience often cures the other; but his increaseth with years, and parteth not till death. Whoring is a deep Ditch, yet some few shall a man see return & lay hold on the ways of life, one of a thousād, but scarce one Drunkard of ten thousand. One, Ambrose mentions, and one have I known, and but one of all that ever I knew or heard of. Often have I been asked, and often haue I enquired, but neuer could meet with an instance, saue one or two at the most. I speak of Drunkards, not of one drunken; of such who rarely & casually haue Noah-like been surprised,* ouer-taken at unawares.

But if once a Custom, euer necessity. Wine takes away the heart,* and spoils the brain, overthrows the faculties and Organs of repentance and resolution. And is it not just with God, that hee who will put out his natural light, should have his spiritual extinguished? He that will deprive himself of reason, should lose also the Guide and Pilot of reason, God's Spirit and Grace: hee that will wittingly and willingly make himself an habitation of unclean spirits, should not dispossess them at his own pleasure?

Most aptly therefore is it translated by Tre∣melius, Haemorrhois, which Gesner confounds with the Dipsas, or thirstie Serpent, whose poison breedeth such thirst, drought, and inflammation, like that of Rats-bane, that they never leave drinking, till they burst and die withall. Would it not grieve and pitie any Christian soul, to see a towardly hopefull young man well natured, well nurtured, stung with this Cockatrice, bewailing his own case, crying out against the baseness of the sin, inveighing against company, melting under the persuasions of friends; yea, protesting against all enticements, vow, covenant, and seriously indent with himself and his friends for the relinquishing of it: and yet if he meet with a companion that holds but vp his finger, he follows him as a foole to the stocks, and as an Ox to the slaughter-house, having no power to withstand the temptation, but in he goes with him to the tippling house, not considering that the Chambers are the Chambers of death; and the guesse, the guests of death; and there he continues as one bewitched or conjured in a spell out of which hee returns not til he hath emptied his purse of money, his head of reason, & his heart of all his former seeming grace. There his eyes behold the strange woman, his heart speaketh perverse things, becoming heartless as one (saith Salomon) in the heart of the sea, resolving to continue, and return to his vomit what ever it cost him, to make it his daily work. I was sick, and knew it not.*I was struck and felt it not, when I awake I will seek it yet still.

And why indeed (without a miracle) should any expect that one stung with this viper should shake it off, and euer recouer of it again. Yea, so farre are they from recovering them∣selues, that they infect and become contagious and pestilent to all they come near. The Dragon infusing his venom, & assimilating his elses to himself in no sin so much as in this, that it becomes as good as meat and drink to them, to spend their wit & money to compasse alehouse after alehouse, yea town after towne to transform others with their Circean Cups, till they have made them bruits and swine, worse then themselves. The Adulterer and Usurer desire to enjoy their sinne alone, but the chiefest pastime of a drunkard is to heat and overcome others with wine that hee may discover their nakedness and glory in their foyle and folly
▪

In a word, excesse of wine, and the spirit of Grace are opposites, the former expels the latter out of the heart, as smoke doth Bees out the Hiue: and makes the man a mere slave and prey to Satan and his snares, when by this poyson he hath put out his eyes and spoiled him of his strength, he vseth him as the Philistines did Sampson, leads him on a string whither he pleaseth, like a very drudge, scorn and makesport to himself and his Impes; makes him grinde in the mill of all kind of sins and vices. And that I take to be the reason why Drunkenness is not specially prohibited in any one of the ten Commandments because it is not the single breach of any one, but in effect the violation of all and every one, it is no one sinne,* but all sinnes, because it is the Inlet and sluice to all other sins.

The Divell having moistened, and steeped him in his liquor, shapes him like soft clay into what mould hee pleaseth: hauing shaken off his rudder and Pilot, dashes his soul upon what rocks, sands, and Syrts he listeth, and that with as much ease as a man may push down his body with the least thrust of his hand or finger. Hee that in his right wits and sober mood seems religious, modest, chast, courteous, secret, in his drunken fitts swears, blasphemes, rages, strikes, talkes,* talkes filthily, blabs all secrets, commits folly, knowes no difference of persons or sexes, becomes wholly at Sa∣tans command as a dead organ to be enacted at his will and pleasure. Oh that God would be pleased to open the eyes of some drunkard, to see what a dunghill and carrion his soul becomes, & how loathsom effects follow upon this spiritual death and sting of this Cockatrise which is the fountaine of the other two following, temporal and eternal death?

And well may it be that some such as are altogether fearless and careless of the former death will yet tremble and be moued with that which I shall in the second place tell them. Among all other sinnes that are, none brings forth bodily death so frequently as this, none so ordinarily slayes in the Act of sinne as this. And what can be more horrible then to die in the act of a sin without the act of repentance? I pronounce no definitiue sentence of damnation vpon any particular so dying; but what door of hope or comfort is left to their friends behind of their salutation? The whoremaster hee hopes to haue a space and time to repent in age, though sometimes it pleaseth God that death strikes Cosby and Zimry napping, as the devil is said to slay one of the Popes in the instant of his adultery and carry him quicke to hell.

Some Audacious Abominable Health-drinkers were so Wicked as to drink a Health to the great Prince of Darkness, their Father the Devil; and it is credibly Reported, he came boldly amongst them and carried away some of them, as bold as he was. One being told, that unless he left off his Drunkenness and Whoring he would lose his sight: He answered thus, Tum valeat Lumen ami∣cum,—Then Farewell Sweet Light.

>>>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>

As you know, liquor is a foul swill: the flame of the whiskey still born of the fire of hell, to produce what is rightly called "spirits" - though the advertisers fail to tag the word "unclean" before it. It causeth all manner of sin, as the sermon points out: and the Proverbs also declare - from strange women, to wounds without cause, to murder, and adultery, and incest, and vile thoughts. It kills the innocent in accidents that are no accident - for the drunkard driving any vehicle sits in a murder weapon, a slaying machine, fueled by loathsome drink!

The dastardly pushers of this intoxicating wrath are as guilty as those who consume it, who drink and die, and kill, and shall be judged guilty of every sin which their devil drink opened up the door of the inebriated brain to: truly "spirits" - EVIL spirits, that possess the soul and the body so that every corrupt idea and thought of the depraved heart, desperately wicked above all else, is released in word and in action.
All I can say is, repent of this horrific madness of drink: beer, wine, whiskey, vodka - they all are killers.

That's my message on it.

(Jesus is the only answer to drunkenness, and He can set you free and keep you free)

A look at Isaiah 6:1-7:6 and Matt 27:1-28:20

ISAIAH 6:1-7:6

” KADOSH, KADOSH, KADOSH, ADONAI TZEVA’OT” .... Holy, Holy, Holy, is the LORD(YHVH) of hosts” When the Torah mentions the “Holiness” of God, the word is KADOSH, the “O” is there, (the letter “vav” in Hebrew) but when “holiness” is mentioned referring to mankind, the “O” is missing, and we have KAD_SH, this “missing “vav” symbolizes our “incompleteness in holiness", because of our inborn “sin nature”

This is something that can only be understood in the original Hebrew. That is why it is so important to know the basics of Biblical Hebrew because if not, we are missing some true treasures in the WORD. The letter "Vav" can be understood as the word "and" in English. It joins two words together. It looks like an upside-down golf club or hockey stick. It can also be understood as the vowel "o" if it has a "dot" on the top.

The letter "Vav" is also symbolized as a "nail" or "tent peg" or a "spike" (Something that connects). So, when we look at the word "Kadosh" (Holy) from a Hebraic perspective, we see that the "Vav" (nail) is present. Our Heavenly Father, in human form as Yeshua/Jesus, received the "nails" in his hands so as to make us "holy" through his sacrifice and shedding of blood. In this way, when we trust HIM as our LORD and Savior, our Heavenly Father imputes Yeshua's holiness to us.

In the verse "Be Ye Holy for I AM Holy" (1 Peter 1:16) in the Hebrew New Testament, the "Vav" is missing in "be ye holy" since we did NOT receive the nails in our hands, yet our Savior DID. Our "Holiness" is an "incomplete action" Being "holy" or "set apart" is a lifelong process that becomes complete when we are with the LORD someday, and we receive our new sinless bodies.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) is being asked by God, “Whom shall I send, who will go for US?” (Elohim) The Prophet answers, “Here am I, send me!” and God responds, “Go, and tell the people!” That should be our attitude as well, we have those orders too from God, to “tell the people” about Yeshua, to teach those who will listen, to his WORD, even though many will not understand at the beginning, or will refuse, we have to try, WE (all believers) are responsible for taking the “Good News” to others who will listen, and with the modern technology, the internet, this has become possible, what used to be almost impossible, now is possible, with fingers going across the keyboard and with the click of the mouse, the word is sent out. So, take advantage of today's modern technology. If the net can be used for silly and evil purposes, it can also be used for spreading the WORD and teaching the WORD to others (even through 10-minute "TikTok" segments)

MATTHEW 27:1-28:20

This relates to the age-old story of Yeshua's trial, execution, and resurrection, this story we know well, He did it to pay the price of our sins, past, present, and future, His one-time-only sacrifice was good forever and still IS good forever. But many people still reject this sacrifice, reject this gift of salvation, for a short-lived world of pleasure, for an eternity of suffering and pain.

When we look at Passover, which is coming up soon,( Starts April 22nd, 2024) we are reminded of the “Passover lambs” that were sacrificed/slaughtered on the eve of Passover. The blood of the lambs sprinkled on the doorposts of the Israelite houses in Goshen, thus protecting them from the Angel of Death. We could also presume that if an Egyptian family did the same, they also would have been spared being stuck dead by the Death Angel. (the first born that is).

All those sacrificed lambs point to Yeshua, who was the “Lamb of God” who took away the curse of sin from the world. The unleavened bread which was eaten that night, which we still eat on Passover, is “Yeshua the Bread of Life”. The Lamb of God and the Living Bread go together.

Pilate wrote these words on the cross, YESHUA OF NAZARETH, KING OF THE JEWS, in Hebrew it would have been 'YESHUA HA NOTZRI, V'HA MELECH Y'HUDIM. Within this title are the letters YHVH, which explain who Yeshua is, God on earth, made flesh and blood, whose blood was shed to set us free.

Virginia's Prince William County admits 4,000 vote error in election tally for 2020 presidential election

MANASSAS, Va. DO YOU KNOW JESUS or Just KNOW ABOUT JESUS?

DO YOU KNOW JESUS or Just KNOW ABOUT JESUS?
"That I may know him...." (Philippians 3:10)

Reading Horatius Bonar last night, and I was slammed with conviction, like the hammer of the Word that breaketh the rock to pieces. (Jer 23:29) It is dealing with selfishness, and when I read the following I realized I tend to get sidetracked into this problem: in fact I think a lot of us do. I will let it explain itself:

"The person and work of Christ
There are not a few who are so occupied with truth that they forget “the true one,” so occupied with faith that they lose sight of its personal object, so given to dwelling upon the work of Christ that they overlook His person. They seem to regard the latter subject as a matter, if not beyond them, at least one about which it will be time enough to concern themselves when they see Him face to face. What He is seems a question of small importance, provided they know that He has accomplished a work by which they may secure eternal life. “We are forgiven,” they say, “we have peace—all is well.” They take but little interest in the person of Him Who has purchased these blessings. The redemption is all, and the Redeemer is nothing or, at least, very little! The sufficiency of His work is all; the glory and excellence of His person, nothing! What is this but selfishness? We get all the benefit we can out of the work of Christ, and then leave Him alone!
And this selfishness introduces itself everywhere into the actions and thinking of this class. We can trace it in the mold of their doctrines. Their views of the atonement are selfish, being framed not upon the principle of how God is to get His purpose fulfilled and His glory displayed, but simply of how a sinner is to be saved. Their views of Jehovah’s sovereignty and electing grace are selfish, being just so many devices for taking the sinner out of God’s hands and placing him in his own. Their views of the Spirit’s work are selfish, being just an attempt to make His aid appear less absolutely indispensable and man’s own skill and strength of very considerable avail in the matter of salvation. But even where those selfish views of doctrine have not been adopted, there is a latent tendency toward selfishness among many, which can only be ascribed to their neglect of the person of Christ.
But what has chastisement to do with this? Much every way. Chiefly in this: that it throws us more entirely for consolation and strength upon the person of the Saviour. Never do we feel more brought into contact with a living personal Saviour than in our days of sorrow. It is Jesus—Jesus alone, Jesus Himself—Whom we feel to be absolutely necessary. The truth is precious; His work is precious; but it is with Him that we have chiefly to do. It is to Him that we pour out our sorrows.
Thus by creating a necessity for our leaning on the person of Jesus (blessed necessity!), affliction strikes at that which was the root of selfishness. By bringing before us another and far more glorious self, it absorbs our own miserable self, till in the person of Jesus we lose sight of our own selves altogether. There is nothing that so makes us acquainted with Christ Himself as sorrow; and hence, there is nothing so efficacious (effective) in eradicating self. It is God’s cure for selfishness. It is His way of making us seek, not our own, but the things that are Jesus Christ’s. It is His way of carrying us beyond truth even to “him that is true” (1Jo 5:20). Truth is precious, but in itself it is cold. But the glory of the gospel is this: that it carries us up beyond truth to its living Fountainhead. Nay, it brings us into the very bosom of Him Who came out of the Father’s bosom and has now returned to it, carrying with Him all those whom the Father hath given Him—there with Him to abide in happy fellowship, world without end."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I read that (and I had to stop halfway through just that portion to pray!), I immediately thought of how I got saved. Not when I said a sinners prayer but there was no change. I'd done that a few times between 1979 - 1984. Seed by the wayside, or on stony ground, and no repentance.
It was when I was at the end of the line and wanted to commit suicide. Right there when I prayed into the void, into the universe, into the Spirit (because I was seeking at this time, the supreme Creator God, and was 100% serious about it, though I really had no clue who or what that Creator God, or Force might be): It was then that the still small voice spoke clearly in my mind "I am Jesus, you can turn to me."
I did not know Jeremiah 29:13-14 but I learned it experientially or experimentally as the ancients say. "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord.." I was saved by knowing HIM, not knowing ABOUT Him!
Philippians 3:8-11, "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead."
Look at right in the middle there: That I may KNOW HIM. Then it says "the faith OF Christ," not faith IN. And it's "OF" in Greek. His faith - the faith He gives us, for we have the mind of Christ, and let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (1 Cor. 2:16 & Phil. 2:5)
John 10:14, "I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine"
John 14:16-18, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."
Several verses in John 17 stand out:
6 "I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
9-10 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
19-20 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
25-26 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them."
The disciples are given to Christ by the Father, and He prays not just for them but for all who believe on Him through their word - so that comes right down to us: we are reading their word! Which is His Word: Christ's Word, which is God's Word! HalleluYAH! Further, note there is an intimacy here: Jesus prays not for the world: he's not praying for the lost - He's specifically praying for all believers.
He's given us the Fathers Word, but we know that means He has given Himself, because John 1 is clear He IS the WORD! Amen. He also sanctifies Himself, that they: those who believe, might be sanctified through the truth; but we know He IS the Truth according to John 14:6. And Christ IS our sanctification. There's just so much here, it could go deeper and deeper, but the focus here must be Christ, KNOWING HIM - not just knowing the Bible, or knowledge about Jesus, but knowing Him directly. Now pray: speak to Him, get to know Him.
I could go on here about how the LORD spoke to Moses as a friend, Exodus 33:11, "And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend," or Isaiah 41:8, "But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend" - and Galatians 3:29, "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise," so this is a blessed things, for a friend KNOWS you. He is not a God afar off.
And of course John 15:14-15, "
Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.'
Just one last word: please don't take this as an open door license to sin, or to consider God just a really cool dude, with a lot of power, that you're gonna run up to and shake his hand. According to Revelation you and I will probably more likely fall flat on our faces in awe and wonder, and a even a little terror, perhaps only for a moment, until He makes the move to welcome us into His kingdom.
David Mills: Decent people tip, and well. Bad people don’t.
The story pops up now and again on social media as a subject for the ten-minute-hate, and a justifiable one too. Someone stiffs a waiter or a bartender and tries to excuse themselves for doing it.
Someone signs the credit card receipt at the restaurant and puts a zero in the space for a tip, writing in “I give my money to charity” or “I save my money for Jesus” (those of you with Bibles, see Matthew 25:31-46). Or they give a supposedly principled reason, like “I don’t believe in tipping” or “Your boss should pay you better” or “Tipping lets businesses exploit their workers.”
Or worse, the very worst, the lowest of the low, they scrawl some sneer like “Get a better job.”
Fr. James Martin promotes Protestant pastor who falsely claims Bible doesn’t condemn sodomy
Contrary to Brendan Robertson’s view, which Martin called ‘superb,’ the Catholic Church teaches that sodomy is intrinsically evil and always sinful and that Scripture condemns it.
(LifeSiteNews) — Father James Martin’s pro-LGBT activist group “Outreach” has posted an interview with a Protestant pastor who wrongly claimed the Bible does not condemn homosexual acts.
In the interview, Martin, the editor of Outreach,asked Protestant pro-LGBT pastor Brandan Robertson what his response is “when an LGBT person [sic], or a family member, or anybody says, ‘doesn’t the Bible condemn homosexuality?’”
Ironically, Robertson said that the downside of the Protestant schism was that “it gave the Bible to a lot of folks that don’t have the complex training to understand the culture, the context, and language from which the Bible emerges.”
“The Bible is not just a book that anybody can pick up and readily understand; it’s a book that comes from a different world with different perspectives and different cultural norms,” he claimed.
Due to the possibility of people misinterpreting the Bible according to their own wishes and biases, the Catholic Church teaches that the Magisterium is the competent and infallible authority to interpret Sacred Scripture and resolve controversies regarding questions of faith and morals because it was instituted by Jesus Christ Himself.
Angry leftists threaten to go after conservatives in their homes, churches if GOP wins in 2024
‘We need to go find out where they live, where they go to church, who they hang around with, and birddog they a----,’ one activist declared to the crowd.
(LifeSiteNews) — Angry radical leftists staged a loud protest outside the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the conservative Heritage Foundation against its “Project 2025,” an initiative that aims to help conservative politicians end the power of the “Deep State” if and when Republicans prevail in the 2024 races for the White House, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives.
“The permanent bureaucracy and its backers are having conniptions over Project 2025, an endeavor to ensure the next conservative president is ready to govern from day one,” the Heritage Foundation’s Mike Gonzalez wrotemonths before the protest took place.
“The denizens of the permanent state are not wrong to fret,” he added.
And fret they did at the top of their lungs and with megaphones, going so far as to try to encircle the Heritage Foundation’s building with yellow crime scene-like tape that read “Stop Project 2025.”
The “Stop the Coup 2025!” protesters clearly sought to intimidate conservative staffers and politicians on Capitol Hill and throughout the nation’s capital, where memories of protests outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court Justices remain fresh in everyone’s minds.
“We need to go find out where they live, where they go to church, who they hang around with, and birddog they (sic) a—-,” one activist declaredto the crowd.
“We have to embarrass them. That is a tactic,” they said. “Find out where they live. Find out where their office is!” said another speaker, urging the crowd to “disrupt business as usual” for conservatives.
Republican Missouri Senate leader removes several Republican state senators from committees
(dateline January 23)
Republican infighting hit a new level Tuesday as Senate leadership removed other GOP members from committee positions.
“The beginning of the 2024 Legislative Session in the Senate has been nothing short of an embarrassment,” [president pro tem Caleb] Rowden said. “A chamber designed to be occupied with civil, principal statesmen and women have been overtaken by a small group of swamp creatures who remind me all too often of my children than my colleagues.”
Rowden says members of the “Chaos Caucus,” a group of lawmakers more formally known as the “Freedom Caucus,” have “chosen to use the Missouri Senate as a place to try and salvage their languishing statewide campaigns and intentionally destroy the institution in an effort to claim the game is rigged against them.”
Hoskins, Brattin, Koenig and Eigel all have ties to the Freedom Caucus, which consists of a group of hard-right Republican members. The group has reportedly been linked to some tensions and fillibusters in recent weeks.
[Counterpoint from Bill Eigel:] “Jefferson City is ruled by a uniparty cartel of special interests, RINOs, and Democrats, who band together to crush the voice of the people. These are the same tactics The Swamp uses against President Trump. They can strip me of my chairmanship, they can kick me off committees, they can drag my name through the mud, but I am not backing down."
Besides being stripped of their committee hearings, the senators also had their parking spots removed from the Capitol’s basement garage.
Bill Eigel was last seen hereabouts using a flamethrower to demonstrate his future school library policy if he is elected governor.
Empathy, feminism, and the church [women’s ordination]
Worth a read.
"Anumber of years ago, I kicked up a hornet’s nest by highlighting how empathy, as understood and practiced in the modern world, is dangerous, destructive, and sinful. Since then, every so often, another battle in the Empathy Wars breaks out (usually on social media), and we all learn something. In most of these dustups, there is an underlying dynamic that manifests again and again, and now seemed as good a time as any to identify it. Providentially, the recent controversy involving Fr. Calvin Robinson and the Mere Anglicanism conference provides the perfect opportunity to do so. The dynamic I have in mind is the intersection of feminism in the church, theological drift, and the sin of empathy.
My basic contention is that running beneath the ideological conflicts surrounding all things “woke” (race, sexuality, abuse, and LGBTQ+) is a common emotional dynamic involving untethered empathy–that is, a concern for the hurting and vulnerable that is unmoored from truth, goodness, and reality. In the modern context, empathy is frequently, as one author put it, “a disguise for anxiety” and “a power tool in the hands of the sensitive.” It is the means by which various aggrieved groups have been able to steer communities into catering to greater and greater folly and injustice. And a key ingredient in making this steering effective is feminism."
Yours in the Lord,
