YLT. Youngs Literal Translation.

Try downloading E-Sword and then download text and commentaries and bibles. YLT is a very literal translation. Hard to read at times. Not great for study. But good for words.

Peace and Blessings
I don’t see a Text.

Most sleeping mats in biblical times were rolled up made from animals skins or wool. Something easily carried in one hand.

Regardless, it was not a sin to carry his mat. Jesus would never command someone to sin and break God’s law.

In Numbers 15:32-35 Moses did not immediately punish the man who was picking up sticks on the Sabbath,
he first inquired of God.

Why was the man picking up sticks on the Sabbath? God knew.
If it was out of pure rebellion, then the punishment is worthy.
And that is the context of the passage, intentional, defiant sin: Numbers 15:30-31.

And so we see that God is concerned about intentions, even when it comes to the Sabbath day.

Jesus was showing the Jews that their strictness was too much,
God is concerned about the heart and spirit of the Torah rather than the letter.

That is part of why Jesus healed on the Sabbath,
only someone perfectly right with God could do such healing, only the Son of God.
