There is a physical kind and there is a spiritual kind.

The first kind of Sabbath rest was periodic, Exodus 34:

21 Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.
The Israelites were commanded to cease physical labor every Sabbath day (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown). This was the physical Sabbath day (Saturday).

The second kind of Sabbath rest is quite different, Hebrew 4:

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. 9So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,
It is a permanent spiritual resting state of being, Psalm 95:

10 For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.”
They knew the first kind of Sabbath rest. They practiced it every week. Yet,

11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest [H4496].”
But they did not attain the second kind of Sabbath rest.

Strong's Hebrew: 4496. מְנוּחָה (menuchah or menuchah) — 22 Occurrences

Brown-Driver-Briggs:

1 resting-place …
2 rest (from enemies) = peace 1 Kings 8:56 (compare 1 Kings 5:18), ׳אִישׁ מ 1 Chronicles 22:9 a man of peace (compare הֵנִיחַ vb);
H4496 can mean peace and rest. It is a state of being, Isaiah 28:

12 to whom he said, “This is the resting place,
It was not a resting period of time.

let the weary rest"; and, “This is the place of repose"— but they would not listen.
Jeremiah 6:

16 This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
Jesus spoke in Matthew 11:

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
The physical Sabbath rest was only a type of true Sabbath rest. We come to the true Sabbath peace and rest by coming to Jesus.

There are two kinds of Sabbaths- the weekly Sabbath that is a commandment of God Exo 20:8-11 written personally by God Exo 32:16 Exo 31:18 and the annual sabbath (ordinances) that came after the fall of man written by Moses. Hebrews 4 is about two different rests, not two different Sabbaths. Christ rest that we receive when we are in harmony with Him and His commandments Isa 48:18 Rev 22:14 and the Sabbath rest that is on the seventh day. Exo 20:10-11 Gen 2:1-3 Heb 4:4

Sadly people use Hebrews as a weapon against one of God's commandments but the Sabbath rest is always according to the commandment Luke 23:56 and is always connected to the seventh day Exo 20:10

Christ in Own Words said the Sabbath is something we do. Exo 20:8-11 God did not give Himself a commandment- He said He would not alter His Covenant Psa 89:34 Mat 5:18 should we believe Him?

Isa 56:1 Thus says the Lord:

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant

The NT Sabbath rest is from our own works to save and in Jesus work which saves (Heb 4:8-10).
The NT Sabbath rest is according to the commandment as scripture shows Luke 23:56 which reconciles with His Word Psa 89:34 Mat 5:18 Isa 56:1-7 Isa 66:22-23

We are to rest from our own works as Christ did from His, on the seventh day Heb 4:10 Heb 4:4 Exo 20:11 Gen 2:1-3 which is honoring and serving Christ. Isa 58:13 Isa 56:1-6 We can do our own thing instead of following the example of God Exo 20:11 Luke 4:16 but we were made in His image to follow Him, not to do our own thing which is rebellion and something the Holy Spirit pleas with us not to do, but will we hear Him? Heb 3:7-8 Heb 4:6 Heb 4:11

We are to rest from our own works as Christ did from His,
And both Christ's and God's rest are full time, and it is that rest we enter into in the NT--a full time rest, not simply a weekly one-day rest (Heb 3:7-4:11).

And both Christ's and God's rest are full time, and it is that rest we enter into in the NT--a full time rest, not simply a weekly one-day rest (Heb 3:7-4:11).
The scriptures truly cannot be made any plainer. God said it three times when He rested.

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

And repeated it in the Sabbath commandment
Exodus 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath
Exo 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day.
Which Hebrews repeats Hebrews 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;

God did not rest 24/7- He worked 6 days Genesis 1 and rested the seventh day. Gen 2:1-3 Man was commanded this same work cycle- work 6 days Exo 20:9 rest from work and labors on the seventh day to keep it holy Exo 20:8 because we are made in the image of God Gen 1:26 to follow Him 1 John 2:6, not to do our own thing which is rebellion.

Christ is God and we enter into His rest though faith. Hebrews 4:2 That faith would include living by His every Word Mat 4:4. Like when God rested on the seventh day in clear easy to understand Words not only spoken by God but written by Him personally and commanded us to as well. Faith is when Christ tells us He will not alter His Words Psa 89:34 and we cannot edit His commandments Mat 5:18 Deut 4:2 as no one is above the Authority of God. Exo 32:16 and we believe Him and follow His Word. Faith is believing Jesus when He said the Sabbath is made for mankind Mark 2:27 and everyone Isa 56:6 as something man does Isa 56:2 as way to honor Him Isa 58:13 when we rest from our works just as Christ did on the seventh day Exo 20:10-11 Gen 2:1-3 Heb 4:4 and keep the Sabbath day holy Exo 20:8 we join ourselves to Christ to serve and love Him Isa 56:6 and shows we are one of God's people Eze 20:20. This faith allows us to enter in Christs rest because in Christ rest there is no disobedience to Him Heb 4:6 which includes profaning His Sabbath commandment Exodus 20:8-11 Eze 20:13 Eze 20:21 Eze 22:26 or any of the commandments of God and when we obey Him through love and faith, than we receive peace Isa 48:18 anything less is following the same path of disobedience this very passage warns us of Heb 4:6 Heb 4:11 who many of the Israelites also broke the Sabbath commandment and why they never entered into Canaan or their rest Eze 20:13 Eze 20:21. We can ignore the warning and follow their same path of disobedience and hope for a different result, but Christ is in own Words says the result is the same Mat 7:21-23, Mat 5:19 Mat 15:3-14 Mat 19:17-19 Heb 10:26-30 Rev 22:14-15 1 John 2:3-4 He tells us this ahead of time, because He loves us and wants us to choose a different path Heb 3:7-8, one that reconciles us back to Him Rev 22:14

Hebrews was written decades after the Cross where nothing at the Cross can be changed from Christ's covenant. Hebrews mainly quotes from the time of David and the time of Joshua. Before entering into Canaan 40 years later the Ten Commanemtns were repeated and taught to diligently keep. Joshua 22:5

Only Christ can reverse His blessing Num 23:20 not man. There is no thus saith the Lord's that says we can disobey God's commandments, all the thus saith the Lords on God's holy Sabbath day are warning us to not profane but to keep and we can either yield ourselves as servants to obey Christ and trust His every Word or yield ourselves to sin and rebellion which separates us from God. Rom 6:16 Isa 59:2 we each will have to make these decisions and live with the consequences come Judgement Day. James 2:10-12 Rev 22:11 Rev 22:14-15

I will pray for us all. Guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Two different rests, how does one have faith in Him, but not faith in His Word. Psa 89:34 Mat 5:18 Exo 20:8-11, Mat 5:19-30 Mat 15:3-14 Isa 56:1-6 Mark 2:27, Luke 4:16 1 John 2:6 1 John 2:3-4 etc etc etc that faith does not bring rest, but unrest Rev 14:11 Isa 59:2 , something Hebrews warns us about Heb 4:11 Heb 4:6 Heb 3:7-8 in God's rest, there is no rebellion to Him or His commandments Rev 14:12 Isa 48:18 that's the faith which reconciles us Rev 22:14

And both Christ's and God's rest are full time, and it is that rest we enter into in the NT--a full time rest, not simply a weekly one-day rest (Heb 3:7-4:11).
Hebrews 4:9 - So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. (NASB) Everyone should take note that the Greek word "sabbatismos" here is used nowhere else in the Bible. I often hear SDA's suggest that this is the word for "keeping the weekly sabbath day" when it is never used anywhere else in the Bible!

W. E. Vine, Greek Dictionary points out:

Sabbath rest (4520) (sabbatismos from sabbatízo = keep the Sabbath) literally means a keeping of a sabbath or a keeping of days of rest. It is used in this passage not in the literal sense (meaning to keep a specific day, the "Sabbath" day) but to describe a period of rest for God’s people which is modeled after and is a fulfillment of the traditional Sabbath.

SABBATISMOS a Sabbath-keeping, is used in Heb. 4:9, R.V., "a Sabbath rest," A.V. marg., "a keeping of a Sabbath" (akin to sabbatizoµ, to keep the Sabbath, used, e.g., in Ex. 16:30, not in the N.T.); here the Sabbath-keeping is the perpetual Sabbath rest to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law.

Because this Sabbath rest is the rest of God Himself, its full fruition is yet future, though believers now enter into it. In whatever way they enter into divine “rest,” that which they enjoy is involved in an indissoluble relation with God. (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words)

SermonIndex.net Audio Sermons - Sermon Index

Although for centuries the Israelites had found their physical rest in a day, the New Covenant takes the focus off the shadows of the Old Testament signs and rituals and reveals their spiritual substance -- the fulfillment/reality—in the person of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 2:16-17) Christians find their "sabbatismos" rest in Jesus Christ and not in keeping the weekly sabbath day under the law.

Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: sabbatismos
Phonetic Spelling: (sab-bat-is-mos')

God 's Authority : Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy .Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God

God's people keep God's commandments based on His Authority through faith, not Vine or another man-made teaching that leads us away from obeying God's commandments as Jesus taught Mat 15:3-14.

Don't follow the crowd, follow the example of His faithful...

Luke 23:56 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
Acts 18:4 4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.
Rev 14:12 Here is the [a]patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Who all followed Jesus as should we 1 John 2:6 Luke 4:16 John 15:10 as He is the WAY. John 14:6
