More information on The Eye's geography:
The planet is smaller than the Earth, but larger than the moon.
Near its entrance is a huge mettalic capitol building. This building contains corridors and high-tech security. Around most of the planet are towns and villages. There are few two-story buildings and very little technology.
At the center of the planet is a huge roughly spherical contraption. It is connected to the surface by several large metal poles with elevators in them. This contraption produces a reverse-gravity field as well as generating the planet's electricity.
Slaves climb around on this contraption, strapped on so they don't fall up. Insude the contraption, or core, are living quarters for the slaves and the few slave drivers, as well as security guards and robots to prevent escape.
Magic
The Eye has no magic of its own. It moves throught the galaxy. When it nears a planet with a strong magical presense, magic on board becomes stronger. When it moves to a planet that is a no-magic zone, magic on The Eye becomes an impossibility (excepting pre-made spells with pre-stored energy). Thus, none on The Eye consider it practical to study any sort of magic. It is too unpredictable.
The outer shell, or which was The Eye faces, is controlled by The Five Senses. The inner shell, or whether the portal is opened, is controlled by magic. Thus it moves quickly, slowely, or not at all depending on where it is.
The Five Senses keep a magic lantern in the control room to easily determine the magic strength of the area to better judge the patterns of the inner shell's movement. This shell has patterns determined by an equation involving the magical concentration of nearby planets and the collective moods of an unknown number of citizens. Which citizens determine this factor change over time based on the ages of the individuals. Because this second number is so absurd to look for, The Five Senses consider it to be "x" and often refigure the pattern.
