Israel is surrounded by hostile nations presently, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran, will they soon March towards Jerusalem?

Luke 21:20-22KJV
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

That prophecy was fulfilled in the abomination of desolation (Mt 24:15); i.e., Jerusalem being surrounded by armies (Lk 21:20, parallel passage) in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.

That was the abomination of desolation (Mt 24:15), Jerusalem being surrounded by armies (Lk 21:20, parallel passage) in the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
Yep, so this event happened around 1950 years ago.

I disagree with reformed preterist eschatology in 70AD fulfillment, the passage is a future event unfulfilled

Did Jesus return in a cloud in 70AD as scripture teaches below "NO", your only way out is to create a symbolic teaching of the second coming, this is factually a future literal event that hasn't been fulfilled

As stated the verses presented are future, and will culminate in the second coming of Jesus Christ in the heavens, and this didn't take place in 70AD

Luke 21:25-27KJV
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Wrong as post #4 clearly shows, reformed preterist in 70 AD fulfillment is false
So, we have people that believe these events happened in the past, while others say these events will happen in the future. The Bible does not explicitly say a date, such as April 14, 2024.

God's words clearly teach that "The Generation" that witnesses the events as described in Luke 21 will also witness the second coming of Jesus Christ, "All Things" will be fulfilled

As you can clearly see the generation of 70AD has been gone for 1900+ years and counting, all wasn't fulfilled as reformed preterist eschatology falsely teaches 70AD fulfillment "Wrong"

"TILL ALL BE FULFILLED"

Luke 21:31-32KJV
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

Well, for me, worrying about the future is not the best, so I will just trust in Jesus. But yeah, the world may end in a day, a year or a thousand years, but we should not fear the end.

The world can't end in a day or a year as you claim, there are many signs to be fulfilled prior to the second coming (End Of This World)

There will be a literal evil human man that will rule the world for 3.5 years, (Paul's Man Of Sin) (John's The Beast) and the entire unsaved world will worship this future literal human man

I don't fear the end, believers are instructed to look up as their redemption and savior Jesus Christ returns, the evil world will fear God's future judgement

Revelation 13:4-6KJV
4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.
6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Well, we will have to see what the future brings. Anyways, I will back out of this thread, as eschatology is not something I am well versed in, pun intended. :)

They did. The armies were Roman, and they sacked the place. They descrated the Temple, and left no stone of it standing on another.

Oh, I forgot. That didn't count.

Jesus spoke of the end. . .of two periods, as is not uncommon in his prophecies, the end of the OT and the end of the NT.

Referring to the end of the Old Covenant and the destruction of Jerusalem.

Prophecy is not clearly understood until its fulfillment.

As it is still the times of the Gentiles ruling there is much to happen. First there will be the elimination of the Russian Federation and Iran`s armies. (Ez. 38: 19 - 23) Then there will be the tribulation and finally the end of the Gentiles rule at Armageddon. God will then rule through Israel in the millennium.

There won't be a millennial kingdom on this earth where God rules throug Israel as claimed, this teaching is setting the stage for acceptance of the future false walk on christ the (Man Of Sin/The Beast) the Antichrist, proclaiming to be God on earth

Jesus returns to Armageddon in fire and final judgement (The End)

Luke 17:29-30KJV
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

Part of Luke 21 is historic to us. And part of Luke 21 is end times as well.

Luke 21:20-24 is the 70 AD event., beginning the times of the gentiles (verse 24)

Luke 21:25-27 is end times at the end of the great tribulation and Jesus's Second Coming in verse 27

Luke 21:29-33 is the parable of the fig tree generation, to see Jesus's return.

Luke 21_34-36 is instructions to escape experiencing the great tribulation, by means of the rapture.

Luke 21:37-38 is Jesus overnighting at the mount of Olives, while preaching in the temple during the day.

____________________________________________________

So in regards to the topic of the thread, no, that part of Luke 21 is in the past. But there are other parts of Luke 21 that are close, and will be fulfilled before this generation passes away.

My own view is to watch for the little horn person to be revealed who he is for certain. And then the Gog/Magog event. I understand that the objective of the opening post is similar, just misguided. No reason for us to be arguing with one another.

Your claim above is "False" the event of fleeing to the mountains takes place "After" Daniel's future AOD, this starts the "Future" (Great Tribulation) Jesus returns (Immediately) "After" the "Future" great tribulation

(Immediately After The Tribulation Of Those Days)

Luke 21:21 and Matthew 24:16 is the exact same event of those fleeing (Judaea/Jerusalem)

(Items 1-4 Below Are Future Events Unfulfilled)

1.) Daniel's AOD
2.) Inhabitants flee Judaea/Jerusalem
3.) Great Tribulation Starts
4.) Jesus returns immediately after the tribulation

Luke 21:21KJV
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

Matthew 24:15-30KJV
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Then the flood came and destroyed them all. It was the same in the days of Lot (eating and drinking). . .But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all." (Lk 17:26-28)

"Thus" (Lk 17:30) referring to "eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building." (Lk 17:28) at Jesus' second coming at the end of time (Lk 21:21).

Luke 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The Jews were lead away captive into all nations following the 70AD event.

The reason to flee to the mountains is different in Luke 21:20-21 than in Matthew 24:15-16.
