What is the appropriate amount of time for when an activity that offends, to a denunciation by POTUS? Should every instance of “bad protesting” be mentioned?
What about the President’s other duties? Should a President (any President) do a daily denunciation report?
When it is a violent protest happening on multiple campuses nationwide with crowds attacking police officers and threatening Jewish students - burning the flag and chanting death to America - that might just be a good time for the President to step up and say - then do something about it.

You do realize they are setting up encampments on multiple campuses complete with fencing and reinforcements.

APRIL 17 - Columbia University students set up a Gaza solidarity encampment on their Manhattan campus the same day the university's president tells the U.S. Congress she will protect Jewish students from a "moral crisis" of antisemitism.
APRIL 18 - Over 100 pro-Palestinian protesters are arrested at Columbia after university president Minouche Shafik asks New York police to clear the encampment.

APRIL 22- Police arrest hundreds of people at pro-Palestinian protests at Yale University in Connecticut and New York University in Manhattan after Columbia University canceled classes in response to its encampment.

APRIL 24 - Riot police are deployed against pro-Palestinian protesters at University of Texas, Austin with 57 arrests for criminal trespass. The level of force, until then unprecedented, is later seen at other campuses. All charges were later dropped for lack of probable cause.

APRIL 25 - In comments at Columbia University, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson portrays the campus as out of control and suggests U.S. military reserve forces should be brought in to restore order.

APRIL 27 - Arrest numbers swell over 1,000 on campuses as administrators call in police to break up encampments at universities from Massachusetts to Arizona.

APRIL 28 - Pro-Palestinian protesters tussle with pro-Israeli demonstrators at UCLA after an Israeli American advocacy group holds a counter demonstration near an encampment of pro-Palestinian protesters.

APRIL 29 - Clashes between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protests erupt at UCLA after Jewish student activist records himself being blocked from areas of campus by pro-Palestinian protesters and UCLA authorities declare the protest encampment unlawful. Columbia begins suspending pro-Palestinian student activists at encampment.

APRIL 30 - Brown University students agree to remove camp in return for vote by university trustees on divestment from firms supporting Israel, marking first such deal for protest movement. Pro-Israeli protesters attack UCLA Gaza solidarity camp, four UCLA student journalists among injured. Police arrest dozens of people at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt as they clear buildings occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters

That is in just eight days.

The President needs to lead - an appropriate time would be before they went nation wide.

Why should he have spoken out before it escalated? Before it escalated, it was just another protest. Should he speak out about every protest?
Ones that cover the face of the nation in support of a recognized terrorist organization would be a good start.

Biden has spoken about this "issue".

He recently denounced any type of "Anti"... whether it be against Jews, or against Palestinians.,, etc, etc.

So, once again, the only real STAND he takes, is...>"how do i sound like im for the Jews, when im really not, so that i can pretend i am, and at the same time not alienate all my Future Dem Voters who are all involved in the "We love Hamas" movement.....

That "line" is a little too "FINE" to try to "WALK", especially when you are a mentally doddering on the edge of collapse .. very old And worn out white male.

I guess your handlers need to make your cue cards even larger now., Mr Biden, Mr President., Mr World Leader.

I remember when Trump ENCOURAGED protestors to "fight like hell or you won't have a country anymore".
The PRESIDENT said that TO PROTESTORS, many of whom then went to go fight like hell. And his supporters DEFEND him and continue to do so.

And now people have a problem because a different president wasn't reactive enough in punishing "violent" protests?

The ethics of this are a total joke.

“Silence is complicity. Even in recent days, we’ve seen harassment and calls for violence against Jews... This blatant antisemitism is reprehensible and dangerous – and it has absolutely no place on college campuses, or anywhere in our country.” -- President Joe Biden - April 21, 2024

Can you provide a link to the actual in person delivery of this statement by Joe or was it a canned White House release?

Indeed it is. You seen, Biden took almost 2 weeks before coming out with a clearly defined stance against unlawful protests. On the other hand, Trump did not wait for 2 weeks.
You are correct. We didn’t wait two weeks. He waited 173 weeks (and counting).

It was a written stement. There was also this:

Biden reiterated his position on the protests following an Earth Day event Monday afternoon in Triangle, Virginia: "I condemn the antisemitic protests. That’s why I have set up a program to deal with that," he told reporters, referring to his administration's plan to counter antisemitism nationally.

This thread has been done. It's just that our current president can do NOTHING that would satisfy certain members on this board. It's pointless.

Good thing a NEW thread got started on this EXACT same topic. I'm sure it will be a refreshing breathe of unique ideas and points raised.

He has been working on this since October:

Biden administration unveils new actions to combat antisemitism on college campuses

Among other actions, the federal government will partner with campus law enforcement agencies to track hate-related threats.

Oct. 30, 2023, 6:00 AM EDT / Updated Oct. 30, 2023, 5:38 PM EDT
By Monica Alba and Peter Alexander
WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is unveiling new actions Monday to combat antisemitism on college campuses after an “alarming” uptick in incidents since the Israel-Hamas war started in early October.

The departments of Justice and Homeland Securityare partnering with campus law enforcement to track hate-related threats and provide federal resources to schools, according to the plan, which was shared exclusively with NBC News.

I’m not exactly sure what people who are upset on this thread are hoping to have happen here, since he did everything people he are trying to claim he didn’t do several weeks and months ago.

He could fly to every campus in the US, personally smack each one between the eyes with rolled newspaper and yell “NO!” and the same hoard of people would still be wailing “BuT wHy WoN’t He MaKe HiS sTaNcE kNoWn AnD cOnDeM tHe PrOtEsTiNg?”

And don’t think I don’t see some of you complaining about Biden’s response when you were on another thread a couple of months ago who insisted January 6 was a tour, a parade, and/or a non-violent sit-in. I got you clocked and that little slice of irony isn’t lost on me.

What's that like the third one? "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome."

Too little too late. His weakness allowed this to happen.
What was he suppose to do? Shut down ALL Protest?

A president shouldn't try to micro-manage everything. University administrations are on the spot of the protests and have the responsiblity of dealing with them.
I remember when the National Guard was sent in to Kent State to deal with anti- war protesters:

What fruit did all of his hard work bear? Condemning, monitoring, and any other rhetoric obviously failed to have any significant impact on the situation. If this were the Trump administration many on the left would making the same complaints. Truth is Joe waited at least 9 days before personally, in public addressing this crisis. It happens to be his job to address and offer solutions to serious uprisings as this. Let’s just see if his DOJ is concerned about crimes committed here. Joe failed on this!

Maybe just do his job and not just hide from reality. Watch the Biden DOJ will they prosecute the riot instigators many of which are not even college students.

He has been doing his job. He and Sec. Blinken have been involved with the Israeli government and Bibi and negotiations.

As many of the protests are on state property, it is really up to the state AGs to prosecute any who cross the line in protesting, not the DOJ.

It starts to make more sense when you realize they don’t want a president, they want a dictator. An authoritarian who will lay down the law and enforce their will even at the expense of personal freedom.
