Not really. I don't care for NZ politics because it's the same non-choice each election. Do you think everything Hitler did was bad? Even Stalin did some good things, doesn't outweigh the negatives. But does saying a leader has done good things mean you agree with their entire platform?

Is it really your position that Trump is an honest to God National Socialist?
Sorry, I do not talk with sympathizers of dictators. Trump definitely is not socialist, he is populist. God bless though, and hopefully NZ has fair elections, just as the US has (Trump lost fair and square).

You mean you don't talk to people who can rationally say someone did an action that was good? While acknowledging they also did a great deal of evil?

Do you mean when you say Trump is fascist that he is an Italian Fascist? Austro Clerical Fascist? But not a National Socialist? Do you even know what these terms mean?

The 4th option might work if not for the fact that I think Trump poses a greater risk to the country itself. The long term success of the United States depends on upholding the constitution, the peaceful transition of power, and a modicum of character among the leadership. Biden isn't my choice, mostly because I'm pro life, but at least he is somewhat predictable as far as politicians go. Trump, on the other hand, is a dumpster fire. From the ongoing legal issues, to Ivana/Marla/Stormy/McDougal and more (last I heard there are 26), to calling other candidates names like he's still in middle school, the guy isn't somebody I want in the White House. Believe it or not, there are people who look up to the POTUS. Whoever wins the election becomes something of a role model, unfortunately. The victor should be worthy of the role.

My vote will go to RFK or another 3rd party candidate. Possibly Libertarian or Green. I'm old enough to remember Ross Perot. Although he didn't win, he ran against two strong contenders and did quite well. Not against weak candidates like we have today. It isn't just independents who are dissatisfied with the two major party nominees. A sizeable number of Republicans and Democrats aren't exactly thrilled with what they have to choose from either. All it would take is for people to vote their conscience, or want to send a message to Washington, rather than holding their noses and choosing the lesser evil or living in fear of 'throwing away' their vote.

Well, RFK is a conspiracy theorist ( 9/11 stuff: Robert F Kennedy Jr expresses skepticism at official 9/11 account ). I would recommend voting for Nikki Haley or the Green party.

That's my biggest concern with RFK. Time will tell how it pans out. If I had to vote Republican, I'd go with Nikki Haley but between the two I'd vote for the Green Party candidate.
Yeah, Jill Stein seems like a better option. Hey, we are both environmentalists. :) Stewards of the earth. But, I am gonna have to run my air conditioner for an hour or so, as my place got warm today (unusual for April), and I can not sleep when indoor temps are > 75F, as 73F is my nighttime preference. During the day, the A/C is set to eco mode or 77F on warm days. Anyways, have a good night bro. We can talk the future of the world soon.

I don't think I've ever liked Trump. I was tempted not to vote at all in 2016, but he ran against Hillary. Had he not run against Biden in 2020, I might not have voted then. In both instances the biggest factor was his opponent. I voted against Hillary and Biden. The poll seems to presume that if you cast a vote for someone you most like him or her, but that's not the case at all.

This November I intend to vote against Biden, just like I did last time.

What are your thoughts on Trump: 2016 versus today?

He was a disgusting person unfit for office in 2016. Today he is a disgusting person who has actively tried to destroy American democracy, and is even more unfit for the office than he was in 2016 or 2020.

There's evidence if you look for it. I watch Fox news and they give statistics on this. YES, they commit more crimes
You made the claim, it your responsibility to provide the evidence. The burden of proof is on you, not me. Please provide us with evidence.

A vote uncast is not a vote against. If Trump is on the ballot, then I likely will on the grounds that he's not Biden.
If someone refuses to vote, then the greater of 2 evils (assuming that is an issue and it almost always is) has a better chance of winning (depending on how many think like that [that they shouldn't vote for whatever reason])

Of course it is. So you are voting for Trump.
If Biden and Trump are on the ballot. If it's another Democrat and Trump, it would depend on the Democrat. Robert Kennedy, Jr, would probably have me voting Democrat, but he's running as an independent and possibly could siphon off votes from either candidate without being a serious contender himself. If it's Biden and another Republican, it would be the other Republican.

"But Tuur," you may say, "Biden and Trump have a lock on their nominations." They have a lock on delegates, but it's possible a surprise could come out of either convention. In which case Trump would likely run as an independent, split the GOP vote, and the Democrat candidate go into office.

Would I vote for Trump if he were running as an independent? No.

I held my nose and voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 because of pro-life and religious liberty issues, I felt the Democrats were worse, and
elections are a binary choice. I thought a Republican administration would reign Tump's worst impulses and keep him in check, as we have a divided government and no one President has too much power the way our system is set up. His administration did some good things, but I thought his post election behaviour was absolutely disgraceful.
It was obvious to me he was trying to cling to power at any cost, refused to submit to a peaceful transfer of power, and was willing to disenfranchise millions of voters, and was only stopped by those who adhered to the constitution, such as Brian Kemp, Brad Raffensperger, Mike Pence, and Rusty Bowers.
His treatment of his loyal vice President was despicable.
I'm not fan of Joe Biden and the Democrats and I don't care for RFK Jr either, so I honestly don't know who I will vote for.
I may leave the President option blank or write in someone. Not good and the first time I've done that in 45 years of voting in every major election.

My position on Trump remains unchanged.

I voted pro in 2016 election cycle, pro in 2020, and still pro.

He did a good job when he was president.

I had previously thought due to age and opposition he should have sat this year out and played kingmaker, but with the situation as bad as it is in America I am kinda glad he's still running.

I feel worst for folks like you, seeing your party and a group you align with slip away.

I appreciate your response.

Well, he is the choice of Republican voters in the primaries so I guess we have to respect that.
It will be interesting to see how November plays out.
