In recent polling, no one candidate for President has more 50% of the vote which this article discusses Here’s where the polling stands in a 3-way race with Biden, Trump and RFK Jr. with Trump at 42%, Biden at 40%, and other 18%. If you are planning to vote neither Trump nor Biden, in the November election, but instead voting for a 3rd Party, Independent, or Write In candidate, who would you vote for and why? More so than in many past elections, a greater percentage of us are not really satisfied with the top two popular choices.

The poll above is limited to what believe currently is the top ten choices from Results of the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries - Wikipedia AND Results of the 2024 Democratic Party presidential primaries - Wikipedia AND other sources.

If a write in, candidate must be a US natural born citizen, at least 35 years of age, and otherwise qualified under the Constitution for President, and must be breathing and alive today on this earth. Please no fictitious characters from the movies, TV, entertainment theme parks, etc.

If neither of the two major parties get 50 percent of the popular vote, more likely that neither of the two parties get the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election. The election could go into overtime like the football game in the movie The Longest Yard. The Supreme Court may have to get involved in such a situation as they did in the 2000 Presidential general election. James 4:13-16 anything can happen and Romans 13:1 God is in control applies.

No third party is going to win any state, best they’re going to do is act as spoilers in a state with one of the two parties benefit from it and getting the states electoral votes.

No third party is going to win any state, best they’re going to do is act as spoilers in a state with one of the two parties benefit from it and getting the states electoral votes.

speaking of spoilers: a tale of one Florida County's ballot and 3rd party candidate Pat Buchannon in 2000 (where GWB won Florida by less than 600 votes):

"We’ll never know what would have happened if the Supreme Court had allowed the recount to continue. But I don’t think it’s always appreciated that we probably do know that Mr. Gore would have won Florida, and therefore the presidency, if it weren’t for the infamous “butterfly ballot” in Palm Beach County.

If you don’t remember — it has been a while — the butterfly ballot was very unusual. Candidates were listed on both sides of the ballot, and voters cast a ballot by punching a corresponding hole in the middle. What made it so unusual was that the ordering of the candidates on the ballot didn’t have the same logic as the corresponding punch hole: George W. Bush and Mr. Gore were the first two candidates listed on the left-hand side, but they corresponded to the first and third hole on the punch. The second punch corresponded with the first candidate on the right-hand side of the ballot: the paleoconservative Pat Buchanan, running as a Reform Party candidate.

After the election, many voters from Palm Beach claimed they had inadvertently voted for Mr. Buchanan when they meant to vote for Mr. Gore. This is clear in the data. Mr. Buchanan fared far better in Palm Beach County than he did on the other side of the county line. Indeed, Mr. Buchanan fared far better in Palm Beach County than any politically or demographically comparable area in the country

Mr. Buchanan also fared much better among Election Day voters — who used the butterfly ballot — than among absentee voters, who did not, a pattern not seen elsewhere in the state. Mr. Buchanan’s support was also concentrated in Democratic areas, even though he was a very conservative candidate.

As far as the data goes, the case is a slam dunk: At least 2,000 voters who meant to vote for Gore-Lieberman ended up voting for Mr. Buchanan. All else being equal, that would have been enough to decide the election."

Yeah... vote for who you want. Just realize that your candidate will never win, and you may actually be helping a winner that you do not like.

Voting one's God given conscience. In the end, He chooses who to be elected Romans 13:1. Very well played out in 2000. In 2016, I voted for Evan McMullin - Wikipedia , Hillary won the popular vote which every other type of election based on that, but Trump won the electoral vote. 2020 Biden won the popular vote by millions, and also won the electoral vote from less than 250K votes in several state close races. Whether there was ballot harvesting, God only kniws, but Biden became President.

God given conscience, listening to Godl's still voice (which we all fail to do in one decision or another), you get to Heaven hopefully, your vote or choice in each life decision you made here on earth you have to answer to God. Some personal decuons like selecting a leader are big vs. what good or bad food choices for your next meal. The story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the book of Daniel where they listened to God first. Even as God's children, we listen to Him, he as our Father makes decisions best for us, including our Kings and Presidents, whether a blessing or a bit of punishment to restore us letting us learn from our mistakes.

In regards to the poll, one should note that the actual percentage of people who votes independent or third party is always quite lower than those who claim they will half a year before the election. Don't expect that high of a percentage in the actual election.

If neither of the two major parties get 50 percent of the popular vote, more likely that neither of the two parties get the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election.

It's not likely at all. Neither of the two major parties got 50 percent of the popular vote in 2016, and it went to the electoral college just fine.

Barring a ton of faithless electors (very unlikely, electors are specifically chosen from party loyalists), to prevent the Republican and Democrat from getting a majority of electors, an independent candidate needs to win at least one state, probably a lot more than one. That is, get more votes than either the Republican or Democrat; it's not enough to deprive them of a majority, the independent has to be the one with the most votes. So no, even if neither Trump nor Biden (or whoever the actual people on the ballot are for the Republicans and Democrats) get a majority of the popular vote, it'd mean basically nothing in regards to the possibility of no one winning in the electoral college.

The election could go into overtime like the football game in the movie The Longest Yard. The Supreme Court may have to get involved in such a situation as they did in the 2000 Presidential general election. James 4:13-16 anything can happen and Romans 13:1 God is in control applies.
In the very unlikely situation that no one gets a majority in the electoral college, there's not really any question as to how things play out; the the House of Representatives votes to decide which of the top 3 vote-getters become president (note the voting in this system works a little differently than normal, namely each state has a single vote).

Which one is it, people chose their leader (and are held accountable for that choice) or your deity does the choosing? Can’t have it both ways.

Here is a great article United States Electoral College - Wikipedia about the history of it. In particular read the section of it labeled 'Correlation between popular vote and electoral college votes' - "Since the mid-19th century, when all electors have been popularly chosen, the Electoral College has elected the candidate who received the most (though not necessarily a majority) popular votes nationwide, except in four elections: 1876, 1888, 2000, and 2016. In 1824, when there were six states in which electors were legislatively appointed, rather than popularly elected, the true national popular vote is uncertain. The electors in 1824 failed to select a winning candidate, so the matter was decided by the House of Representatives."

The article is a long read, but much helpful detail to discuss, even in this thread. The Electoral College is a double edge sword. Imagine in 2000 with 9/11 if Gore was elected President, and in 2016 if then Hillary, one of Obama's cabinet officials, using her personal computer for Department of Defense business was elected President. 2020 was more complicated, Biden clearly won the popular vote, but the Electoral vote is up for debate (see earlier posting in this thread and elsewhere in this forum).

Also more importantly what happens in this world James 4:13-16 between now and November, and Romans 13:1 for the end election result.
