Sad ending, though.

Gah! They die, don’t they? :(

I have the DVDs up to volume… (don’t laugh)… 3. I found I liked the manga better and decided to focus my money on it, instead. Still, I only have up to volume 6 and the manga is 8 volumes. I haven’t seen vol. 7 and 8 around so far, but apparently the endings are different… >>

This series is just so awesome. I love it!

Yep, seen the entire anime series (interested in the manga but I'm not in the position to throw money around at all right now), and there's some awesome music videos that use it also*. I have a couple of ideas for videos as well, aside from the multi-editor project track that I've completed already.

*like this one (use the Direct Link, as long as you have DivX or XviD installed it'll work):

Saw the entire anime series. It's awesome, I gotta tell you. There's so many funny things about this, especially how they connect so much stuff to our Christianity but put it in such a weird way. Sad ending, though.

actually they may be connecting things to christianity, but since I was a christian at the time I didn't really realize how much bull was in it. the person who wrote it never really mentions god or jesus except for in the christmas pagent in the christmas episode.
really the more i look back at it and watch it over again as a agnostic, I realize that though they used christianity, It was reall more warped towards shinto and buddhist beliefs than christian. The point in using christianity in the series was because it fit into the demographic of the time, the 20's.
I really liked this series though, chrno can be a bit to nice sometimes, although he has his reasons and I wish they had made him taller in his human form.
It does have a sad ending, but it makes sense in the story.

The manga doesn't have any Christmas specials (I think), so they don't even talk about Jesus there. I don't mind it too much; it's not like the story was designed by a Christian and for Christian purpose.

By the looks of it, everyone is talking about the anime. I've seen less of the anime than what I've read on the manga, and since they do have a few differences... I'm confused. o_O

Definitely. I did notice that, not once was Jesus mentioned, despite the fact that everyone was Catholic. It's sad, really, how little Japan knows of our faith.

And... while Chrono was cool, my favorite was Rosette. She's just hilarious. XD

Actually, I don’t think anyone mentioned that they were Catholic, either. So maybe nuns and priests were just how a Japanese non-Christian envisions Christianity. Heck, I remember going to a non-Catholic friend’s church about a year ago (I wasn’t Catholic by then), looking around and asking, “Where are all the nuns?” :p

And as for favorite characters, mine is by far the adult Chrno (*drool*), then it’s between Aion and Mary Magdalene. They supposedly didn’t say much about Magdalene in the anime, though, which is a shame… And Aion was a bit more psycho and anti-God than in the books... >>

lol, yeah in Japan christianity is very exotic to them so they use it in all sorts of anime and manga. That's one of the reasons I'd like to move there, that way no one would say stuff like......
Ohhhh you're agnostoc and firm in your beliefs, let me tell you why everything you think is wrong.
the funny thing is I actually had a jehovah's witness say those exact words to me.

actually I thought Aion was pretty sane in the anime, he thought his plans through well and he wasn't exactly anti-god he was just tired of being the pawns in god's games, kinda like me.
Aion is probably my favorite *drool*, then the guy who was an angel (can't remember the name, it's been about a year since I watched it with my little sis.)
And yes I wish they had talked more about mary magdalene in the anime, she was really interesting and could have used more time discussing her.

I agree, they left a lot of things behind about Chrono and Magdalene's past, which left me a little confused.

And the angel is Remington. He was cool too, I gotta admit...

"Whoa" indeed... an angel is the complete opposite of a demon! Remington wasn't a true half-demon, though; they made him like that by introducing a demon's legion in his DNA. Or something like that... *Goes pick up her CC manga vol.6*

-*:eDiT:*-

It was actually in vol. 5. :p

Ahem... I'm not sure if I should warn you or not - or if it's far too late for a warning, for that matter - but the following paragraph contains SPOILERS for the Chrno Crusade manga. ;)

It was the Elder who did it. Remington was badly hurt in a battle, so he agreed to have his body transfused with legion (those are the things that demons are made of). So, he's 40% demon. That's how he looks so young, even when he was alive by the time Magdalene met Chrno.

That bites. Poor guy. lol

I always hated the Elder... stupid perv.

Yeah, in the anime, he just blatantly states it, "I too possess the title of 'Angel'." I guess either way it makes sense how he can live for that long and still retain that 20-year old look that he has.

But still!!! They changed his demonic side for an ANGEL!!! Why couldn't they just keep him as he was?

OK, so I'm a bit psycho when it comes to demons... And some other things. I just think it's lame to have poor Ewan be an angel when he could be part demon. And I thought it was so cool when I read it, too.

Now I, too, am part of the anti-Gonzo movement. >>

I don't like how they portrayed Rosette and Chrno, either...

I might never buy a CC DVD again. :sigh:

Well, to be technical (at least according to the dub), he said "I am not unlike an angel", when asked how he got to San Francisco from New York (or were they in Chicago?) so fast. With the final scene that occurs in 1981, I almost thought they were trying to imply that Remington was either the Wandering Jew or the Apostle John, both of which have had legends of immortality attributed to them (likewise, it's been suggested that Keel Lorenz from Neon Genesis Evangelion was also supposed to be a representation of the Wandering Jew or the Roman soldier Longinus). They never explored the issue of Remington's 'angel' comment in the anime, though. Of course, it's really confusing since other characters refer to him as 'angel' or whatnot.

I read somewhere that, according to the anime, Rosette was the reincarnation of Mary Magdalene. Is this true?

Oh, cool! Stigmata!? I have yet to see that in the manga! All I know is that I saw Aion call Rosette "Mary of Magdalene" in the episode when he kissed her (and Chrno went mad ^_^ ).

All I've read of Mary Magdalene in the manga is that Magdalene had the gift of Prophecy. I haven't really finished the series, though, so maybe she had stigmata in the manga, as well.
