We have who we have now because the two people who ran against him were the weakest candidates possible.
I absolutely agree! That candidate lost because she was very unpopular, and many people didn’t want a Biden 2.0. The people have spoken, and elected the other guy.

Too bad.

I guess you don't watch the news.

What groups?

Who is "they"? Are "they" the same as the groups listed above?
The minority groups always screaming victim hood or oppression, when in reality, much of what they say is occurring is a delusion.

And yet oppression is happening in broad daylight.
Yes, but some is surely exaggerated. Some groups have ultra thin skin.

And it’s really unfortunate there wasn’t a better Republican candidate.
But there were. GOP choose who best reflected themselves.

many people didn’t want a Biden 2.0.
It should have been obvious to all that Biden 2.0 would have been better than Trump 2.0.

20 years ago we had to hide our hate in chat rooms and secret meetings in the compound. Now we are free to voice our hate in public, social media, and can take an active role in intimidating people with no repercussions.

Well, we elected and affirm an arrogant bully. He is now the face of the United States. Our leader.
For some that is greatness.

It's funny, some people here have stated that they do not accept anonymous whistle blowers or sources but all it takes is an anonymous call to ICE to get someone deported.

First, I don't know you, but I take it that your entire post is sarcasm. You show not the slightest hint that you mean it to be sarcasm, but I think you are speaking sarcastically when you say green policies are just fine.

Ever hear of Poe's Law?

Let's look at your link. It says that a coal-powered station is closing (Yeah!) and that new overhead transmission lines are now needed to distribute power (Boo!).

Understood. As Kermit the Frog put it, "It's not easy being green." I will not for one minute say that being green is simply something we can switch on and all will be well.

Your link mentions new overhead transmission lines. Yes, we will need those. But that's only the beginning. We will need gigantic solar farms, massive wind turbines, miles of HVDC transmission to interconnect the smaller transmission lines you mention, huge pumped-hydro storage facilities, massive battery storage facilities, electric trucks, and so much more. Our low carbon future will not be easy. And don't get me started on all the mining and destruction of the Earth that would be needed to do all that.

But the alternative? Are you suggesting that we just continue to fuel record breaking warmth and putting our own lives at risk?

By the way, those links above on carbon solutions point to the work of Michael Barnard, an eternal optimist on green energy. I don't quite share his optimism, but I admit that we have no other choice but to attempt something like this to keep any semblance of our industrial society going.

But instead, people have turned to hating the messengers. But sorry, those of us who speak out on climate issues are not the enemy. We are telling you what we see.

Unfortunately, it is much easier to hate the messenger then to work together to solve this mess.
This whole thread is a stacked deck; regardless., it is not hatred to disagree with it. Getting back to what I said re coal and solar “farms” is not from my emotions but my opinions.

I am no great advocate of coal but it still seems to be useful if it is in moderation. China uses all the coal it wants alongside it’s “green” applications.

The People's Republic of China is the largest producer and consumer of coal and coal powerin the world.

Somehow keeping a few coal plants in the US is going to have much of an effect otherwise? Is criticizing Chinese policies part of the preemptive charge of being mean as insinuated in the thread?

Then going back to solar “farms”, having to erect tons of high tension wires for electric needs is a good trade off? I think the idea of solar parking lots from my earlier link is a better trade off if solar power is to be used. Then, there is the issue of how much land is being considered for solar development.

https://biologicaldiversity.org/w/news/press-releases/federal-plan-for-public-lands-solar-development-opens-33-million-acres-in-11-western-states-2024-08-29/#:~:text=TUCSON%2C%20Ariz.,over%20the%20agency's%20draft%20plan.

I’ll take solar parking lots any day over solar “farms”. What a name to begin with, it sounds like a con. Do I grow vegetables and raise livestock on a solar “farm”?

Your pickup truck is breaking down, and you cannot afford a new one. Good jobs are hard to find, and prices keep going up. You fear you might not be able to keep your God. Times are tough. I get it.

In frustration, you look for people to blame, and you find no shortage of possibilities. You could blame DEI recipients, transgenders, or Democrats, for instance. And then along comes a presidential candidate who speaks out against all the people you blame. True, some of those people being hated could include your friends or even yourself, but largely the message resonates with you. Yes, you have been told this candidate should never be President again, but then again, you hear this candidate is blaming the people you blame. You like that. And so, you vote for him.

But have you turned to hatred, rather than resolving the problems?

Here are some of the groups being hated:

DEI Recipients: Historically, discrimination had made it hard for minorities and women to have equality. DEI programs have been instituted to help overcome this bias, so that the result of both the lingering discrimination plus DEI emphasis would supposedly put everybody on more of an equal footing. Yes, some of those programs may have gone too far. There is always room for healthy debate. But how can it be good to lash out in hatred of all who have sought what they consider fairness?

Immigrants: People have blamed a range of other people here, from criminals to hard-working undocumented people to green card holders to natural-born citizens. All get lumped together with calls for mass deportation. Sure, violent criminals must go, but, in the meantime, many good people get caught up in a wave of hate.

LGBTQ+: No, Mr. Falwell, homosexuals and abortion providers were not the cause of the 9/11 attacks. There are decent people in the LGBTQ+ community who just want to live their lives. But an outpouring of hatred has been showered on these groups.

Other religions and nationalities: Other religions, especially Muslims, have seen immense hatred. In particular, vast hatred is reserved for the Palestinian people. True, Hamas has committed evil acts. Those who do that should be punished. But there are a vast number of people living in Palestine who want to live their lives peacefully. They think they deserve a fairer distribution of the land where they and the Israelis live.

Foreign Countries: There seems to be no end of the vitriol against China. Now, even Europe and Canada are in the crosshairs. Everybody seems to get the blame except, oddly, Russia. But America relies on a world of friendship. Somehow, we strike out in anger at even our friends, thinking that somehow that is OK.

Environmentalists: There is unending anger at those who seek to preserve the environment and seek to be honest about the limited resources in the world we live in. Environmentalists care about our future. Without such concern, the future is bleak.

Government Workers: There has been a vast backlash against the many career government workers who dedicate their lives in civil service. They are degraded as “the Deep State.” They have faced massive layoffs. But don’t forget, at its core, government is good.

The needy: There is endless backlash against welfare queens, without even acknowledging that the welfare program was abolished in the Clinton era, replaced with the much less generous Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). We need programs like Medicare, TANF, FEMA, and USAID. But unfortunately, these programs get branded as Marxism and receive the wrath of many people.

America is, and always has been, great. That greatness has sometimes been overshadowed with hate. We had slavery, the Trail of Tears, and subjugation of women. Despite that, America has been moving on with things like The New Deal, The Great Society, Civil Rights, and even Compassionate Conservatism. Are we now losing all that? Are we making America hate again?

You know what I think would be great for America? Take all the news medias off the air. Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, get rid of all of them because they’re all promoting lies and propaganda which is why nobody knows what hay to believe. It’s pretty much become a matter of which lies do you prefer to believe?

Except for... well, none of these things are true except in the minds of the politicals who need this narrative to be true. There is no grand national hatred against these people.
All one has to do is read the posts from many Christians on the USA right in this forum to see with their own eyes that the hatred is well and truly alive, flourishing and being fanned by the President and his elite buddies.

Wait, what? We all go through life choosing one set of lies while our neighbors choose another set of lies? What could possibly go wrong?

If only we had organizations who were dedicated to finding out the truth and reporting it to us. Oh, wait, we do. Its the mainstream media. True, they are not perfect, but they sure are better than a host of sources that make no effort to stick to the truth.

First Amendment aside, those are the extremes. Plenty of accurate reporting in the middle.

Why do you think people disagreeing with you is "hate?"
By your definition, you and all liberals hate all men, whites, conservatives, and especially Christians. I assure you, I do not hate anyone. I doubt anyone here does. Hate is a very expensive emotion, and to do it right, one must allow it to consume them. They end up in cults or radical political ideologies that do not mind destroying lives with unfounded and haphazard accusations. I have a life, and I don't have time to waste on such dark goings-on.
It is a cruel thing to throw this blemish on a person. It is like calling people child abusers or sex offenders. With this callous and thoughtless accusation, they will live their life with a damaged reputation. It is a low thing to do. I pray you never have to face it.

How much oppression is acceptable?
None. I worded it wrong. People should be hired based on being qualified, not because they’re a minority.
