The long established criminal "deep state" is continuing to expose itself. They seem to have unusually special interests in this particular illegal alien out of all the 1000s of illegals that have been deported so far. They certainly could have found a more suitable poster-child for their cause.

The wife beating and human trafficking does not get a lot of sympathy outside of hard core liberals.

Your taxpayer dollars at work.

Yes indeed. Members of Congress defending the principle of due process. Good.

If Mr. Abrego Garcia is convicted of a crime in a proper jury trial, then I am content for him to have the penalty prescribed by the law he is convicted of breaking.

If he has not been convicted of a crime, then a) we are doing him an injustice and b) it sets a terrible precedent. Could I be the next one sent to a Salvadoran prison without being convicted of any crime? Could you?

If you are not a citizen and are a member of a designated terrorist group, yes. We live in reality.

Citizen? Yes. My ancestors arrived on the Mayflower.

How do you propose to determine whether I'm a member of a designated terrorist group? If not trial by jury, then what?

I don't, that's not my job. We elect a president who is in charge of the executive branch that makes the decision as to who is a terrorist. There were prisoners detained through the Obama and Biden presidencies, such as Zayn al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn, who have had no trial by jury for more than two decades. Why the demands now that Trump is in office? Do you think Garcia should get a trial by jury ahead of Husayn?

The deep state is now run by Trump and his billionaire buddies. They are trying to overthrow the US Constitution and supplant their authoritarian government.

We should be having juries of our peers deciding who is/is not a terrorist.

The prison in Guantánamo, in which the US is holding prisoners without trial, is shameful. I haven't forgotten. One of my disappointments in the Obama presidency is that President Obama didn't manage to persuade Congress to close the Guantánamo prison.

That's not an excuse for rounding up even more people now and imprisoning them without trial.

Why wasn't there an outcry from Democrats for them? Why weren't they condemning Obama and Biden over it?

Because Democrats are sinners too, and Democrats make mistakes too. There was, sadly, bipartisan support in Congress for the Iraq war and for the imprisonments without jury trial in Guantánamo. There has been some opposition in Congress, from both Democrats and Republicans, over the last two decades, but not enough to completely close the prison. And, of course, there have been objections all along from groups like Amnesty International.

Trump is the biggest threat to the deep state.

The way things are going on the left after the last elections, I think they are willing to try anything to stop the implosion.

If the prosecution can turn "suspect", "possibly", and "unable to confirm" into evidence that convinces a jury beyond a reasonable doubt, then the penalties of the law can apply.

Illegal immigrants ain't legally entitled to the exact same due process as are legal residents and citizens of the USA.
