We have had it good here because WE made it good.
We have it good here because we had a land with enormous natural wealth, because we ended up on top after other nations suffered more in WWII, and yes, because of our hard work. There were many factors involved.
In the process we have filled the atmosphere with carbon dioxide and have stripped the world of the cheapest sources of oil and minerals.
Having achieved that vast wealth using the common resources that had been available before we started, I see no problem in saying that it would be good to be generous and help other countries.
We've paid and given and supported countries around the world spending OUR money to help them and defend them. It is primarily Americans who have given their own money, time and aid to build hospitals and give care. We are the ones who often are first on scene to start aiding another country with aid after a natural disaster.
You have a problem with generosity?
I happen to be for generosity.
The USAID budget was less than 1% of the government budget and
did immense good. It was terrible to demolish it.
So it's still in their beat interest to be involved with us and open their countries to us.
Even when we cut off the aid? Even when we shut down a warehouse with
$500 million of food destined for starving children, leaving it rot in the warehouse? Even
we fire the inspector that revealed that this food was being wasted due to the sudden shutdown of USAID? Even when we put punitive tariffs on third world countries? Even when we threaten to annex other countries?
If we act like bullies, don't be surprised if we lose friends.
And USAID wasn't shut down because we were helping starving people. It was shut down for wasting our money on ridiculous and stupid projects like transgender surgeries or Sesame Street. This agency was out of control.
Now we are going after Kermit the Frog? Oh my. Please watch Mr. Rogers convince this Republican congressman that Public Television was well worth a $20 million grant.
