So you are not a big fan of free speech, huh?

Im actually the biggest fan of free speech you will find.

But I was never one to put up with my children if they mouthed off, and many on the left are acting like spoiled children in this bid to destroy America.

So yes, intentionally spreading propaganda and fear mongerng so they can tank the stock market is rather too far, in my opinion.

We know prices will go up as that’s what tariffs are designed to do. We know retaliatory tariffs will also be imposed and increased because that’s also what naturally happens as a result of a trade war. It’s not like Trump invented the idea of a tariff. Even granting that it’s bringing countries to the negotiating table, that doesn’t the effects the tariffs themselves will and already are having on the economy.

I would have thought Mr Art of the Deal could work better trade agreements with countries without raising prices on nearly everything we buy in America.
It appears that Mr. Art of the Deal might have relied on Mr. Artificial Intelligence to work out the arrangements.

I think Trump would say he is the biggest fan of free speech you will find. Did we actually find something where Trump might actually be second best, with you coming in first? ;)

Judging by what you write, this does not look like free speech that you are advocating.

Pray tell exactly where have I ever even indicated freedom of speech is a bad thing?

I have always advocated for our constitutional values in this country. I do ask that if you make the accusation you at least link to the posts...

otherwise, your just slandering my name in this thread - for funsies from the looks.

No they don't. We arw already seeing changes as countries are coming to the negotiating table. No one has any idea what's going to happen.

Bullying might work, true.

Then again, all the other kids might gang up against the big kid in class that wants to bully them and might together put the bully in his place.

We in America have had it good. Very good. Many countries willingly go along with the current status because this is not only good for America, but it is good for them. We provide the reserve currency that greases the wheels of global transactions. We provide an abundant source of consumption in most any product a country can make, thus supplying them with a flow of dollars that is good to buy anything they want in the world. And we had, for years, provided things like USAID to assist struggling countries in many ways. And so, for many countries, it was best to cooperate in order to be part of this Pax Americana.

All this may soon be gone. USAID, which has done so much to spread American goodwill (United States Agency for International Development - Wikipedia ) is being shut down ( After months of cuts, State Department says it's officially shuttering USAID .

And countries are seriously considering abandoning the US Dollar as the world reserve currency ( https://money.usnews.com/investing/...at-happens-if-the-dollar-loses-reserve-status ) If that happened, all those dollars spread throughout the world come back to America. People will have no more use for them. And then, we have far more dollars in America chasing fewer goods, which is the textbook cause of high inflation. High tariffs are pushing many countries away from the US Dollar.

America will remain great only if it retains at least the modicum of goodness and compassionate strength we have had in recent years, sharing our wealth through organizations like USAID, and standing fixed and strong in support of a reliable dollar used throughout the world.

Why would we give it up in a greedy search for more?

I believe my post above quotes your post in full, and provides a direct link back to your post.

And no, I did not slander your name. What I wrote was, "Judging by what you write, this does not look like free speech that you are advocating." I was judging what you write. I was not judging you as a person.

I do apologize I was not realizing you were only referring to that post.

However - where did I, speak against anyone's freedom to speak?

I said I would be happy when they sat down and shut up because the lies and propaganda were being carried way beyond reason by people trying to destroy the country.

I can wish for grown children to start acting like adults without it becoming a treatise on our constitutional ability to speak freely.

At some point though there's responsibility for what is said. I think we can all agree to that, people are dying because of the lies, and they still won't stop.

We have had it good here because WE made it good. As you pointed out, other countries have it good BECAUSE of us. We've paid and given and supported countries around the world spending OUR money to help them and defend them. It is primarily Americans who have given their own money, time and aid to build hospitals and give care. We are the ones who often are first on scene to start aiding another country with aid after a natural disaster.

So it's still in their beat interest to be involved with us and open their countries to us.

And USAID wasn't shut down because we were helping starving people. It was shut down for wasting our money on ridiculous and stupid projects like transgender surgeries or Sesame Street. This agency was out of control.

We are still going to share our wealth and goodness across the globe. It will just work differently. Being good doesn't mean we just pay whatever other countries want us to pay. We don't NEED USAID. We never did. What we need is an agency who is smart with our money and not stupid with it.

It's time for other countries to help pay for their own stuff and give a little back for all we've provided to our own detriment.

Of course. We give out the most money because we are the biggest developed economy. Other countries give less, because their economies are smaller. However, on a per Capita basis, US citizens rank 17th.

??? Only about 10% of USAID funds go to programs it runs itself. The rest goes to other international aid agencies or NGOs. For many years, the largest recipient of USAID funds has been Catholic Relief Services.

Did anyone buy the dip? I put a little to ride this upward movement. Hopefully, I get at least 4% out of it.
No some of us are just trying to survive in this Trump economy.

If you bought just before Friday close, you lost about 2.5% by noon today.

The cure for the stock market is simple. Cancel the Trump tariffs.

On Friday, news spread that Trump had cancelled the tariffs. Stocks rose 8.5% in half an hour. Then it was discovered that the news was fake. Stocks immediately plunged. 'Fake news' and a $4 trillion swing: Inside the stock market's wild moves today
Quit looking back. You don't know what the future will bring, and history shows us that the trend for the stock market and tariff deals are just getting started. You'll be happy to know this is probably a technical bounce from oversold territory.

Up 1300 pts. Up 700 points. Best not to make points based on intraday trading.
