I think it's funny that "the government" is such a popular answer.

Christ is the Lord of both the dead and the living. But what does that mean really?

Peace in Christ.

Christ is the Lord of both the dead and the living. But what does that mean really?

The “living” do not mortally perish but believe into Him. They have an age-lasting life….living until the end of this present, evil age that He delivers them through.

John 3:15-16
(15) That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal (age-lasting) life.
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting (age-lasting) life.

But not everyone has found that life. They perish. We have witnessed a massive destruction of people being led down the broad way to their mortal destruction.

Those who have “died”…mortally perished…did not hear the gospel of truth because of the false teachings of false prophets. They believed in Jesus but did not get His message….the glorious gospel of their Lord Jesus Christ because their church leaders did not understand it.

But Christ is still the Lord of them....Lord of the dead.

The “dead” shall be resurrected at the last trump while the "living" will hear the gospel of truth and believe and shall have an age-lasting life for the duration of this present, evil age. They will continue to mortally live until the last trump where they will put on immortality without seeing death.

The death and resurrection of Christ covers both groups for He is Lord of both the dead and the living: those who mortally perish and those who will not.

2 groups: those who live and those who die.

Rom 14:7-9 KJV
(7) For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
(8) For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
(9) For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

There are 2 resurrections being spoken of here by Jesus in John 11: one for those who die (who mortally perished and suffered age-lasting punishment) and those who do not die (those who have an age-lasting life who do not perish from this earth).

One resurrection is for the resurrection of the dead at the “ last trump” for those who believed in Jesus but have fallen “asleep”…those who have mortally died/perished.

The other resurrection is for the living…for those who do not fall “sleep” as they have an age-lasting life remaining here in this earth alive. They remain alive for the duration of this present, evil age that we are living in to the moment at the end of this age where they put on immortality.

Even though he may die, he shall live….as He IS THE RESURRECTION (of the dead). There is a distinction between the 2 groups (the dead and the living) being shown here in Jesus' response to Martha.

John 11:25-26
(25) Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
(26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (INTO THE AGE). Believest thou this?

Young's Literal Translation
Jesus said to her, 'I am the rising again, and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;

He IS THE LIFE to the living.

The “living” shall not mortally die (perish) but shall have an age-lasting life. This is the “first resurrection” of the first-fruits of Christ. They live and believe into Him and shall not die into the age (this present age) but shall continue to live by their faith in Him. The living SHALL NOT DIE but will continue to live into this age...until the very end.

Young's Literal Translation
and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die -- to the age;

Those who believed in Jesus but have died/perished (being the flock of the slaughter): they believed in Jesus but were led astray by false prophets and have suffered loss- their mortal death.

They were led astray from the road that leads to an age-lasting life and went down the broad way that led to their mortal destruction. They did not hear the gospel spoken in the truth so that they may have an age-lasting life.

The “dead” shall live again though …at the resurrection of the dead….at the last trump. Jesus is the Lord of both the dead and the living.

This dove-tails into 1 Corinthians 15.

The “dead” who mortally perished from this earth shall be raised/resurrected incorruptible at the last trump…. while the living (who did not fall “asleep”…that is, did not mortally die/perish) shall not die and will put on immortality at that time.

The “dead” fell “asleep” while the living did not fall “sleep” in death.

1Co 15:51-54 KJV
(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

The first group...the "dead" (the corruptible)...shall put on incorruption. The second group....the living...shall have their mortal bodies (which haven't died) put on immortality.

(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Both groups have victory over death. But the "dead" who mortally perished have then will have gone through an age-lasting punishment (being cut off from this earth)...while the mortal (those who did not die from this earth) will have had an age-lasting life until that moment.

Again, 2 groups being spoken of:

The "dead" = the corruptible shall have put on incorruption

The "living" = this mortal will have put on immortality.

(54) So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

We...the living....shall not sleep as the "dead".

Lazarus “slept” in death….and was awakened out of sleep. The dead shall be resurrected at the end of this age while the living will continue to live through out this age and will never mortally perish (never and will reach the last trump moment alive where they will then have their mortal bodies changed into immortal.

Joh 11:11-14 KJV
(11) These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
(12) Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
(13) Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
(14) Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

MANY have gone in the way that leads to destruction….their mortal bodies have perished from this earth because of the false prophets that they were to beware of. They are the "dead".

But Jesus is still Lord of them…He is the resurrection (of the dead) and the LIFE (of the living)of those who find the way that leads unto life in this earth.

Mat 7:13-15 KJV
(13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Trump rally in Democratic Strong hold

Hmm.. another vast right wing conspiracy.

Haters say it is less than 5,000 - City claims 80,000 people can in for the event - so the truth is somewhere in between. It is still hundreds of times larger than his political opponent can muster even in a state that supports him.
Political rallies for Biden people are not what they are for Trump people. Biden people are supporting a politician as a means to an end. A huge number of people seem to make being a Trump supporter a big part of their identity, so going to where he is becomes like a religious pilgrimage.

It reminds me of the joke people make about runners… How do find out if somebody is a runner? You don’t have to; they’ll mention it themselves. Same with Trump people.

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

Why isn't there an "Are you messing with me" emoji?

God did not DO that. Satan has chosen Iniquity of his own Libertarian Volition, apart from God's WILL... which God Gave to all of His creations to abuse or appreciate.

Satan does not reveal God's character in any way! God did not desire evil, He does not do evil, He is not guilty of Evil. God is our Spotless Lamb.

The Son reveals the Father, per the Son's words. Satan has no thing to do with God.

I know you think my image of God is Weak and unjust. May I explain why my opinion of what Scripture reveals makes Him stronger than a Micromanager?
So God didn’t do what scripture said He did?

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

The Hebrew word for translated to "Hate" is "Sane". It does not man what the Greek word Hate, means. It is by Hebrew root, about a Thorn or Seed. It refers to how Fences were protected by Thorn bushes and vines to protect Live Stock. This is also the origin of the term (Kicking against the goads, pricks or thorns).

It means to recoil from inflicted pain.

Absolute proof.. can't deny.. the earth is flat

By the way, a physical, mechanical model of the solar system is called an orrery. Naturally, they aren't made to scale, because an accurate scale mechanical model would have to be humongous. But they can make pretty nifty models that display the orbits of the planets and their moons anyway.

Sex and marriage in heaven?

Please see Post #12.

According to Revelation 20:7-9
7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

People will rebel against God. If by sin, you mean do what is not right, the answer is yes.
However, this is different to sin that has been pass down from Adam Romans 5:12. This is disobedience to God, but does not result in sickness, old age and death.
They get instant death. Isaiah 65:20

The Gog and Magog are after the First Resurrection, but before the Judgement.

Tonychanyt is right to say there is no sin after Resurrection, neither in those who rise in the first or the second. But the deception of the nations at Armageddon, will not pertain to those written in the Book of Life.

I was studying marriage a few days ago and learned the following:

A) One can only get married if the wife is a virgin OR her spouse has died.

B) All marriage contracts are only until death. That's because marriage contracts are blood contracts and are fulfilled at the moment of death.

Therefore the conclusion is, while we indeed are virgins after the resurrection, there is yet no blood to sign the contract, as flesh and blood does not enter the kingdom. And even if there were blood, there is no point of a blood contract, since it's not possible to die.

Therefore marriage is simply not a possibilty.

Slovakia’s Prime Minister Fico in life-threatening condition after being shot multiple times

The shooting took place after an off-site government meeting in Handlova. Fico was first transported to a local hospital and then taken by helicopter to a major trauma center in Banska Bystrica, about 30 kilometers away.

“There was an assassination attempt on R. Fico. He was shot multiple times and is currently in a life-threatening condition. The next few hours will be decisive,” said a statement on Fico’s official Facebook page.

The suspected gunman was detained at the scene by law enforcement officers, according to Slovakia’s state news agency TASR.
Let us pray for R. Fico. Whether we support a leader or not, we must pray for the victims of attack. I do not know much about Slovakia, but this shooting sounds bad.

Your links here are from the same government agency that actively lied and hid the truth about the Origins of Covid 19 as well as probably other truths about that global pandemic.
Do you know how huge the NIH is? And the quotes come from studies. Were 'they' (the entire NIH) lying about the virus that causes AIDS? Or Ebola?

The origins of Covid is not known for sure - but that is not the topic of this thread.

And how did the National Institute of Justice hide covid origins?

bethulah-virgin vs almah-virgin

The difference is easy to define; every Betulah (virgin) is also an Almah young woman, but not every Almah (young woman) is a Betulah (virgin).

So when understood that Betulah is just a specialised subset of Almah; its usage becomes clear.

When the subject in a story is a virgin - both words can be used/mixed, but when the subject in a story is a young woman only, 'Almah' would be used exclusively.

In Isaiah 7:14 the word Almah is used and obviously the sign in those days that the young woman would conceive within a certain time frame was not about a miraculous virgin birth; the sign was about the time frame.

It remains a mystery why the Greek LXX/seventy translation of the TNK/OT chose to translate Almah in this verse with 'parthénos' (virgin). The LXX translates 'Almah' ONLY in Genesis 24 and Isaiah 7 with 'parthénos' - while it uses 'neanis' for the other instances.

The NAB translation with 'young woman' in Isaiah 7:14 is a better one than the NIV with 'virgin'. The NIV is retrospectively trying to harmonise the Hebrew with the LXX and Gospel of Matthew (which quotes the LXX translation) - but that's not how proper translating is supposed to be done.

Trump blasts his trial judges. Then his fans call for violence.

Most view Antifa as a very loosely organized left wing group. How many are basically homesless kids who are more anarchist than polical left or right? Looks like anarchists joined in the riots of the summer of 2020. They did strongly oppose the Proud Boys, and other right wing groups.
But how physically violent are they? Why was this unique?:

For the first time, a self-identified member of the militant movement known as antifa has been implicated in a fatal shooting and is reportedly under investigation in the killing of a supporter of President Donald Trump on Saturday in Portland, Oregon.

The left-wing protest movement has resorted to violent measures in the past in opposition to right-wing extremist groups but has stopped short of lethal tactics............
Unusual case of lethal violence
If Reinoehl is implicated in the case, it would mark the first time in recent years that an antifa supporter has been charged with homicide, said Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University.
"Unlike the white supremacist and the far right, which glorifies mass violence by loners and small cells against minorities and enemies, hard-left violence has generally been less fatal and more directed towards property, racists and to a lesser extent police and journalists," Levin said.
It seems that when right wing violence, really violent stuff, is brought out, Trump supporters cry, "but, ANTIFA!" I think the right wing is better art organizing, and the left is more relaxed about it. Read the links I provided. This sentence is key:
"In comparison to left-wing supporters, right-wing individuals are more often characterized by closed-mindedness and dogmatism (9) and a heightened need for order, structure, and cognitive closure (5). Because such characteristics have been found to increase in-group bias and lead to greater out-group hostility (10), violence for a cause may be more likely among proponents of right-wing ideologies. In contrast, in comparison to their right-wing counterparts, left-wing individuals score higher on openness to new experiences, cognitive complexity, and tolerance of uncertainty (5).

DreamyLaLa's Art

Thanks so much! That's an interesting idea though I always wanted draw and write about my original characters. Your idea actually reminds me of two different manga I read years ago about Judith and St. Paul. They're both published by an American company called Manga Hero (the company no longer exists, though). Have you heard of them?
You are welcome. I have not heard of the Manga Hero, I am more into anime compared to manga. But, I hope you can glorify God by making art of the saints. Secular art is okay also, but must be balanced with Christian art, in my opinion. :)

Muslim explains why they vote Democrat in America. To make America Muslim.

If Muslims really wanted Sharia law in the U.S. they would align themselves with the social conservatives who want to ban books, teach sanitized revisionist history, inaccurate science, and force those with different valid beliefs to follow theirs.
They just want to live in peace and follow their customs without discrimination.
You couldn’t be more wrong. Let’s take them one by one. You falsely with a broad sweeping statement say conservatives want to ban books. If you call removing porn from schools libraries book banning then I guess we are guilty. Sanitized revisions of history? Are you kidding it is not conservatives tearing down statues, and rewriting history is liberal ideology doing this. Inaccurate science, who is saying men can be women, viable babies in the womb are not people, covid vaccines were safe and effective, masks would prevent transmission, children are mature enough to make life altering decisions without parental involvement. Conservatives are not forcing anyone to to follow anything. You have all of this reversed it is liberal ideology trying to force this nonsense onto everyone.

Do you believe that it was the plastic bottle and gases present that caused the temperature to increase?

Because there was a control group right beside it and rhe only variable was the gases present.
The temperature of the bottle that had CO2 introduced into it rose higher than the one that did not have CO2.

President Biden mocks our Catholic faith

If Biden put Christianity into a blender, what has Trump done, run the entire Bible through a shredder? I wonder how many commandments the people making these statements are breaking? The only correct applicant the USA complies with is putting "In God we Trust," on currency.
Agreed, in fact, Trump added to the Bible, which is a major sin in Christianity. A southern pastor denounced polarization in his sermon a few weeks ago.

Proverbs 30:5-6: "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you be found a liar."

Revelation 22:18-19: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

God bless this pastor for speaking the truth (Duration: 9 min 20 s)

Summary:

In this video, Pastor Loren Livingston addresses the issue of politicization within the church, particularly the belief that politics is a spiritual obligation. Throughout his passionate sermon, he encourages congregants to focus on their duties towards God and fellow human beings, underscoring the importance of faith and moral conduct. Here are the key points of Pastor Loren's message:

1. Misunderstanding Duty: Some individuals view political involvement as a religious responsibility. However, according to Pastor Loren, Christians should prioritize their service and love for God above anything else. This involves dedicating themselves entirely – heart, mind, soul, and strength – and treating others as they would treat themselves. Voting does not fall under spiritual responsibilities, but rather constitutes a civic privilege.
2. Neglecting Prayer: When believers fail to invest time in reading and praying, they risk diluting their understanding of biblical principles. For instance, seeing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights as equivalent to scripture reflects confusion between secular documentation and divine revelation. Such misconceptions contribute to blurring the lines between earthly pursuits and heavenly priorities.
3. Gospel vs. Nationalist Agenda: The pastor clarifies that the Gospel represents the teachings of Jesus Christ, not an Americanized version of it. Despite living in America temporarily, Christians must remember their ultimate allegiance lies in heaven. By striving to embody the love and compassion taught by Jesus, followers preserve the integrity of the original Gospel message.
4. Consequences of Mixing Politics and Faith: Intertwining politics with faith has serious consequences. Politicians may manipulate religion to promote self-serving agendas and capitalize on divisive issues. Referencing recent events involving former President Donald Trump, Pastor Loren cautions against attaching celebrity status to Christianity, warning that such attachments undermine genuine reverence for the Word of God.
5. Discernment Regarding Leaders: Although Pastor Loren avoids explicitly naming names, his words challenge audiences to critically evaluate leaders who claim affiliations with Christianity without demonstrating adherence to its core values. In essence, actions speak louder than mere declarations. Believers must scrutinize the alignment of chosen representatives with biblical expectations and reject efforts to commercialize faith for personal gain.

In conclusion, Pastor Loren implores Christians to remain grounded in their faith and resist allowing external influences—such as politics—to divert attention from their primary commitment to God. As stewards of His Word, they ought to protect and cherish the timeless wisdom found within the Bible, avoiding contamination by short-lived trends and ideologies.</s>

Free will and determinism

The point I made demonstrates that your hypothetical of a hard-wired brain is unsupported by science. My point still holds.
Perhaps you could support your claim (that there are random neurological events) and we can examine them. Maybe check out Penrose-Hameroff for some info on microtubules and quantum effects (orchestrated objective reduction or Orch OR), although it's mainly concerned with consciousness itself, which is another ball game for another time. See here: How quantum brain biology can rescue conscious free will. And see Churchland's response here: https://patriciachurchland.com/wp-c...onNeural-Theories-of-Conscious-Experience.pdf

I'll also quote this passage from here: A Summary of ‘Determined’ by Robert Sapolsky — Does Free Will Exist?Alexander Horwitz, M.D. — Psychiatry & Psychotherapy Podcast

'Sapolsky discusses quantum tunneling, which is illustrated by electrons being able to seemingly traverse physical spaces such as walls due to superposition. Quantum indeterminacy provides a lot of fodder for doubting the presence of free will. Maybe behavior is a product of the randomness of the previous ideas. Sapolsky ultimately argues against this. The idea of quantum effects bubbling up is considered through the work of Peter Tse with the neurotransmitter glutamate as well as the work of anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff and physicist Roger Penrose with microtubules.

While a glutamatergic neuron has roughly 20-100 trillion glutamate receptors, it is unlikely that a little spontaneous release of glutamate can produce any meaningful effects. In addition, physicist Max Tegmark has shown that the time course of quantum states in microtubules is far too short to have a discernible biological effect. Although there is the potential for a staggering amount of subatomic indeterminacy, the major point is that it does not appear to manifest on the macroscopic level. If it did, Sapolsky notes that “you’d just be making gargly sounds because the muscles in your tongue would be doing all sorts of random things.” Interestingly, Sapolsky does not address string theory and the idea of multiple universes or the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics.'

See also Tegmark's rejection of the claim here: https://space.mit.edu/home/tegmark/brain.html

Plenty for you to check out I think. I might say 'Been there, got the T-shirt' as I've read all of the linked articles before. And mulled over the pros and cons. But there may be something you want to discuss.
One basic problem with your position is twofold: 1) You make an a priori w/o evidence assumption that free will does not exist, 2) you then argue circularly from that unsupported position that because choice doesn’t exist in any prior instant, then you could have had no control over your own dispositions.
As was pointed out in the post above, and has been explained to you previously, the a priori position was 'We have free will'. Coupled with a normal sense of puzzlement that anyone could argue against it. So...why not investigate the claim that we don't. And discovered it was based on determinism. Well, hey - I agree with determinism, but there must be room for free will in the deterministic world. I was a compatibilist. So I examined the literature. Classical, enlightenment and contemporary. Studied neurobiology. Looked at cause and effect. Looked at social conditioning. Spent quite a few years poking around and started to get to a point where the arguments for and against kept coming up wherever I looked.

And found that there was no room for free will anywhere.

And then spent not an inconsiderable amount of time trying to find an escape clause that will allow for personal responsibility. And found that there wasn't one. Which was by far the most difficult aspect of the matter with which to come to terms. But you get to a point where there's nowhere else to go.
