Hello @Macchiato, it is REALLY hard to think this way in the midst of a particularly difficult trial, especially one that just seems like it's never going to end (it is for me anyway), but I believe that pastor Charles Spurgeon was really onto something when he said,
"I've learned to kiss the waves that throw me up against the Rock of Ages"
This is a quote that was based, at least in part, on the wonderful/wondrous promise that the Lord makes to all of us (who are or who will be His) in Romans 8:28 (a promise telling us that He will cause ~ALL~ things, both good AND bad, that is, to eventually work together for our good ).
I believe that the "faith" response, then (to our trials/sufferings), should be one that is along these lines.
1. acceptance (of the difficult situation that we find ourselves in, knowing that the Lord is not only in control and knows what we are going through, but that He is, in point of fact, going through it with us)
2. trust (that He loves us and ALWAYS has our best in mind .. cf Romans 8:32, even when we cannot see it in the moment)
3. anticipation, hope, patience and wonder (anticipation and hope because of what God has promised to do for us in the future, as well what we know He has already done for us in the past, and is doing right now e.g. Romans 5:8-10, 8:28, wonder at all that He is up to as He continues to work mightily in our lives to see us sanctified/made more and more Christlike .. e.g Philippians 1:6; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; Jude 24-25, and patience to wait and see what He has in mind for us/what He is making us into and what we will finally become/what our future lives hold for us because of everything that He is doing for us now ).
I believe that God wants to get our minds/hearts off of our life in this world/in the here and now to help us focus/contemplate instead on our future lives with Him (because He knows how vital it is for us to do so)!
God bless you!!

p.s. - here are a few more Christian quotes that I hope you may find helpful.
"Two words will help you cope when you run low on hope, accept and trust" ~Pastor Chuck Swindoll
"Instead of a river, God often gives us a brook, which may be running today and dried up tomorrow. Why? To teach us not to rest in our blessings, but in the Blesser Himself." ~Pastor/theologian Arthur W. Pink
"Our vision is so limited that we can hardly imagine a love that does not show itself in protection from suffering.... The love of God did not protect His own Son.... He will not necessarily protect us - not from anything that it takes to make us like His Son. A lot of hammering and chiseling and purifying by fire will have to go into the process." ~Missionary/author Elisabeth Elliot
