• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I can't help but notice that while we are on other threads, we get these great ideas or hear about other subjects and we begin to go off in other directions.

We're pretty good at not hijacking threads for the most part but I think we need an area where we CAN have these runaway conversations about the industry, God, life, and everything else.
So...........

GO!

I was contacted today by a woman in one of the ministries in our resource thread. She told me that a woman in Toronto contacted her about getting out of the business.
I feel totally paralyzed because I can't do anything for this woman right now. I am on the other side of the country and there is STILL no help for dancers in Canada!
I am looking through all of my old emails from up to two years ago of people in that area who said that they had a heart for women in the business. I have come across a few possibilities (if the emails still exist) and I am going to contact them all. I prayed a (not complete) rosary for her today.
It is so frustrating to see women who want to get out and be unable to help!
Why has nothing happened in this ENTIRE country? I know Canada's usually a few years behind the U.S. but this is just STUPID.

Here's a quote from a pro-life feminist. I did not realize that the Playboy Foundation is the biggest donor to the abortion rights lobby. It shows the direct link between this industry and the sex industry. More proof that its not true feminism to be a sex industry in spite of what the apologists say.

"[W]e refuse to join [organizations like NOW] totally because they seek to solve the world's ills through the violent means of abortion. Feminists for Life consider the fanatical insistence of certain women's rights groups ..ion to be a sell-out of the feminist cause. They have sold out to the male dominated abortion industry (and it has been documented that the greatest majority of clinics are businesses owned by entrepreneurs) and to the playboy philosophy which sees women as exploitable commodities for male convenience and profit.

"Abortion is the destruction of human life and energy that does nothing to eradicate the very real underlying problems of women. The pregnant welfare mother begs for decent housing, a decent job and child-care or respect for her child-nurturing work. Instead, she gets directions to the local abortion clinic and is told to take care of 'her problem.' How convenient. Much less time and trouble than teaching her about authentic reproductive freedom and reproductive responsibility. Much cheaper than attending to her real problems: her poverty, her lack of skills, her illiteracy, her loneliness, her bitterness about her entrapment, her self-contempt, her vulnerability. After the abortion these problems will all be there and another one added besides: her guilt.

"By encouraging society to consider a woman's child as a disposable piece of property, abortion reinforces the image of woman herself as disposable property and reusable sex object-a renewable sexual resource. It is no coincidence that the biggest single financial contributor to the cause of 'abortion rights' is the Playboy Foundation. When abortion is available to all women, all male responsibility for fertility control has been removed. A man need only offer a woman money for an abortion and that's it: no responsibility, no relationship, no commitment. And there we are... recycled and used again!" --Cecilia Voss Koch

American taxpayers have to be up there too, via our forced giving to Planned Parenthood... : ( That is hopefully changing. I think that there is currently some legislation in the works that will cut funding for Title X, under which "family planning" is funded.

This makes so much sense that it may even have hit home when I was a left wing feminist. (Even then though, I knew that I had murdered my baby by abortion.)

I wonder how many feminists know that the Playboy Foundation is the biggest monetary contributor for abortion rights?

I knew there was a connection between abortions and the sex industry because I read that its common for sex workers to have them. In fact I sadly remember one dancer telling me that she was pregnant and "of course" she had to have an abortion. And of course I wanted nothing to do with motherhood, nor did a number of my co-workers. But this info shocked me.

Catholic For Freedon of Choice is funded by the Playboy Foundation.
Who is of course tied with the softcore porn empire Playboy who has a had core porn branch too, Club Jenna who was bought from the Grdinas (Jay and Jenna).
Just look at the CFFC financial backing.

Here is a fascinating expose written by Dr. Jason Kovar, who is an evangelical pastor and former actor. I am sharing it with you all because I think by learning these little known facts about the Western world's premiere sex goddess, Marylin Monroe, it sheds a lot of light on the origins of the now-booming sex industry as well as our over-sexualised culture. Plus, it confirms many people's observation that there is an intrinsic link between occultism, satanism, and the sex industry. Monroes was not the only Hollywood siren that was heavily into the occult and satanism.

I always noted that there were a lot of women and men at the clubs who were seriously into astrology and such.
As time went by, I really got into the occult myself, Wicca specifically. In my poisoned mind, I really felt that Christianity was evil and responsible for the ills of the world.

I met more and more women in the industry who were also witches and I was always so excited to meet another one. It seemed that by the time I had quit in 2003, I had met dozens of other witches.

I also used to do rune and tarot readings as well as astrological charts for people. The girls at the club would pretty much be lined up for that. The dj's too.

My closest friend Kristen and I used to do rituals and stuff together. I've spent the last 5 years praying for her and in the past 3-6 months, she has slowly been seeing the light of Christ. His Grace is amazing, truly. Just a couple of weeks ago she told me "Paula, I threw out all of my old astrology and witchcraft books."
I was SO happy for her- to break those chains is a freeing thing.

"In my poisoned mind, I really felt that Christianity was evil and responsible for the ills of the world."

I can relate to that statement!

I wondered if my experience was just refelctive of Hollywood/California or the industry in general, because I also was aware of a lot of occultism at my club. Yes, lots of interest in astrology, Aleister Crowley, several witches that I knew of were working there, and the eerie thing was, for some reason, many of the employees were "Aquarians" including myself, so that it got to be a running joke and they would have an annual "Aquarius Party"! I think it was the devil's way of giving us a false sense of cameraderie.

My husband also swears that he was "hexed" by more than one dancer, and this was confirmed by a friend who used to practice the black arts. One cast a "love spell" on him - maybe a common thing to do to get repeat customers??

There was a group of women who were particularly into the occult and they would invite me to attend their gatherings or go to Burning Man with them. I'm glad I never took them up on that!

But all this tells me that in leaving the industry, some of us might need some level of deliverance in addition to healing afterwards because of the occult problem. I most definitely did, I believe that I had demonic attachments due to my involvment in the occult. I got some good books on the subject and used the deliverance prayers renouncing the occult and breaking curses and spells that might have been cast on me.

I'm so glad to hear about your friend, Paula!
It gives me hope because my sister and an old friend of mine are into the occult pretty heavily.

The interest in the occult is part of the sex industry nihilism and love for irrationality.
I have a friend who is Buddist and he can even go near a strip club without feeling ill. He said that the bad vibrations coming from those places are too much.

I love that - so true!

Your friend has a real gift there. When I and my husband "woke up" at the end and I was still working, we started to see the spiritual darkness and the demonic in my club, more and more. I have heard this from another stripper who converted too. She said she saw demons and everyone looked dead.

We are getting a bit Gothic here.
I know when I was into law enforcement and many strippers and prostitutes were informants that:
1.In one well known strip club in my country there was the ghost of a woman that hanged herself there, that most massage parlor owners are into either santeria or Palo Mayombe. And of course, most strip clubs, massage parlors and escort agencies are owned by the Red Dragon Society (chinese triad), the Japanese Yakuza and the Colombian drug cartels. With Panamanians and Americans acting as front men. If fact the explosion of porn in shot in Florida might be tied to money laundering by drug cartels and the East Coast LCN. Some colombian drug boss boasted that he is the real owner of a well known Miami web porn company.
About my friend, he used to be an atheist, the kind of people that are show me or prove me everything. He was educated in a Ivy League U and he was the ex boyfriend of a former porn actress who fixed her life in a remarkable way. He lived in Chicago and Frisco. One day here he was giving a conference on eviromental issues when he colapsed into a coma. He had a brain tumor. He was operated and his life was saved but he changed. He became more spiritual. And since he does not believe in a personal God, he tried Buddism. And he told me according to his Buddist teacher he has his third eye open by his tribulation, the spiritual things eye. Since them he cannot be near a strip club without feeling sick. But he has become more open to Christianity too. There is hope.

That's interesting, one of the dancers in my bar was from Central America and was - get this - actually a MAN (this is Hollywood remember!). I think he was a Santeria practitioner. I had a feeling that my former boss was tied to the mob because the club is located smack dab in the middle of Little Armenia and was an area controlled by Russian and Armenian mafia. The other clubs in the area most certainly were mob owned. Plus the guy who tried to kidnap/rape/traffic me was Lebanese and from an extremely wealthy family related by marriage to the Maloofs, who own the Palms Casino. Now I heard on Donny Deutsch an interview with a woman who was sold into slavery. She said that they took her to a basement underneath a Las Vegas casino where there were many other women kept there as slaves. The whole experience has haunted me because my would-be abductor never copped to what his ultimate plans for me were. I was warned by a seasoned dancer to not accept the apartment from him, and that he had tried to get her to move into one of his apartments for years. I thought since I had Tim the man wouldn't be stupid enough to try anything!

I hope your friend becomes Christian! I was Buddhist for many years and I'm so much happier as a Christian.

A LOT of mob ties all over the place. In London, Ont. as well as Fort Erie, Niagara Falls and a bunch of other cities, there were a bunch of clubs owned by a family suspected of trafficking and a myriad of other stuff.

Niagara Falls is so bad that a former Member of Provincial Parliament once told me that there was nothing that they could do except try and work with what they had. Sad defeatist ramblings of a liberal feminist atheist.

Just goes to show what the girls are up against though, doesn't it? People who are NOT afraid to use violence to make their points.

Also, I'm in SHOCK over that "slaves in the basement of Las Vegas" thing. What the heck is going on?
I guess I shouldn't be surprised at ANYTHING anymore. I'm surprised that I'm surprised. God, I can't wait to get to Heaven sometimes.

Here in Central America the while there is a sex trade, the situation is not so bad. Most women do not have pimps. They say their children are their pimps. And the Chinese, Japanse and Colombian mobsters are often civilized dealing with their employees. Sadly the Americans are moving in and they have much more heavy handling tactics. And more worrisome. The Russians are already using this place as a base to move women into the US, allied with the equally rutless Mexicans. The are the ones who do not have any problem with slitting a woman throat if she does not do as they say, or keeping women locked into basements, or producing rape or bestialy porn with women under duress. In neighboring Costa Rica for example two Russian young women were found death in a beach tied with shots to the back of the neck. I was rumored that they were on the way to the US and got rebelliuos.
I have heard that there are even some clandestine cemeteries in the desert of Nevada.
Is more nastier that most people think.
But without being critical of the US, I think that the US policy of santioning prostitutes along with their pimps if the worst possible one.
