You have such a decifit because of tax breaks to rich. They don't spend the extra they make buying domestic. Military is the first you should cut. They haven't been keeping you safe. They are sowing unrest around the world. America's love for violence is diabolical.

You realize the rich pay most of the taxes right? 50% pay no income tax.

Just exactly how much of their income should they pay?

What if then, with the fields harvested “pretty good” and still having some out on the stalks, to have the local, or state, or federal folk come out and finish the rest of the harvesting to put away in storage for “the poor”?

instead of grain, it’s money, that’s all.

It's irrelevant, unless you are going to use the government to enforce all the levitical laws. Which I'm sure you don't support.

Yes, so "suspicious" that this primary followed the same formula as every other primary (for both Republicans and Democrats) since 1952. Candidates run out of money and drop out, or see their polling data drop out and get out while they still have some power, and trade the power for influence at the convention and jobs in the new administration.

If Buttigieg or Klobuchar, much less Warren, had showed any sign of having a chance of the nomination, you might have a point. Instead, all three's polling numbers had tanked (and Warren crashed and burned on Super Tuesday) before they quit and their money was depleted.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they would have thrown their support behind Sanders instead of Biden. But as we saw they didn't want Sanders to be their candidate.

Yet only 16% of Americans are poor. So how does that work. 16% of Americans are poor. Say the poor shouldn't pay income tax. Okay.
That leaves 31% of Americans that are not poor, but pay no income taxes. Yet the tip 1% pay 30% of the taxes. Those earning $83000 a year or more pay 80+ % of the taxes.

I'm just trying to figure out exactly how much of their income should those people pay towards taxes?

The median Income in America was $63,000. There were 39% of Americans that earned less than $50,000. 60% of Americans earned more and paid 90% of the income taxes.. But putting it together you see that 15% of Americans paid About 70% of the income taxes. That leaves those earning $50000 to $145,000 paying 30% with graduates rates.

So what percentage of their income should those earning over $150,000 pay? How much of their income should the top 1% pay?

Falling below the poverty rate is not the gold standard for determining whether or not someone is "poor." That federal poverty threshold is about $12,000 for a single person and $24,000 for a family of four. You can make quite a bit more than that and still be poor.

Also, there are other taxes. Payroll tax, for example, is a regressive tax that all poor people pay.

Those earning $83000 a year or more pay 80+ % of the taxes.

We also make most of the money.

I'm just trying to figure out exactly how much of their income should those people pay towards taxes?

I just finished doing our taxes. Our combined gross wages were around $132,000. AGI was $105k and after deductions, our taxable income was $80,500. The effective tax rate on our AGI was 8.84%. I don't think <9% for two 30-something professionals with no kids is unreasonable, do you?

Uh, no.
Median personal income is about half that:
Real Median Personal Income in the United States

Median full-time wages is in the low-$40k range:
Table 1. Median usual weekly earnings of full-time wage and salary workers by sex, quarterly averages, seasonally adjusted

What you appear to be citing is median household income:
U.S. Median Household Income Up in 2018 From 2017

Assuming this calculator is correct, $50k puts you at the 59th percentile, which means that 58% of Americans make less than $50k.
