Beautiful!! That has to make the walking a little easier when you have that kind of view :)
Yes for sure!:)
But today I took a bad fall down the stairs after my workout. I already had back problems and I’m getting increasingly sore and stiff as the night goes on. Really hope I didn’t injure myself out of walking for a while. I’ll be big time bummed if my streak dies.
Ohhh no! I pray Lord for quick healing in @TheRealAriel sleep.

I'll be taking a break from CF from Valentine's Day to Easter for Lent. I have a 10k trail race on 23 March. Please pray for healing as I increase mileage and will be eliminating caffeine and be on the Daniel fast for part of lent. The race has been slippery and I've seen bad injuries when I volunteered.

Y’all. I just made the best breakfast burrito of my life. Onion, tofu, black beans and cilantro sautéed with some punchy seasonings. Then I put that, some cheese, and fresh diced tomatoes in a low carb shell and baked it just till it got crunchy on the outside. It was all improvised but turned out so delicious. :flat4:

As far as fitness goals I’m on day 54 of my 8k steps a day streak! It’s been very nice getting the movement in each day, no matter how lazy I want to be.

So off I go for a walk now!

I've implemented sourdough into our diet and maintain two starters for savory and sweet dishes. Einkorn was a godsend and the catalyst for spontaneous weight loss. The metabolic standstill is over and I'm losing weight and burning fat rapidly. The cessation of modern wheat consumption was the linchpin and we're enjoying others like buckwheat, durum, and millet. I haven't delved into my storehouse as I'd like but we're responding positively to the changes and hope that continues.

I did a lot of canning over the summer and early fall. Now I'm working through the remnants in the freezer and getting everything on the shelves. I restarted the kombucha and plan to make a batch of sauerkraut to tide us through the spring.

We're on our last jar of kimchi and I want to have more fermented foods on hand. I made a blueberry lavender and blueberry orange shrub which pairs well with sparkling water. I sweeten it with honey and it's a healthy version of Italian soda.

Our beverage of choice is water. I keep a carafe and insulated cup beside me and fill it throughout the day. I don't know how much I consume but it's a lot! I started making freezer meals for breakfast on my daughter's behalf. I don't always partake but it's there and that's important. We're snacking on granola as of late. I tweaked a peanut butter recipe with sourdough and the end result was good but I'm still perfecting it.

I make cookies in batches and freeze the dough. We bake a couple as desired. And we've developed a hankering for Sun Chips and get the individual sizes from Costco. There are a few things which didn't go as planned. I don't use protein powder. I found a great brand but it makes things sweeter and adjustments are required. I thought I'd add it to my food and smoothies. But I rarely have them.

Routines are my primary focus. Preparing things in advance, making sure there's a fresh loaf on hand, and tackling tasks that were set aside or on the back burner before the busy season arrives. I'm still progressing but I'd like to do more. I have an indoor bike that needs to be assembled. That's my top goal for the month. And I want to finish my canning projects before the farmer's market returns outdoors.

I found a great resource for natural body treatments. I've used some in the past. Now we're making the shift to castile soap for our hair and clothes. We use it for body wash and dishes at present. I don't have sensitive skin but commercial products are irritants and I usually make my own.

And I need to make some tooth powder. I've accumulated a lot of egg shells and plan to add them to my recipe. They're supposed to strengthen the teeth. Some people chew them but I'm unlikely to do the same.

10k trail race completed a couple weeks ago.
Grueling 5 weeks training during Daniel fast, elimination diet, and no caffeine during lent. I can't believe as grueling as it was, my inflammation went down and brought about more healing in my feet. Things that I thought were injuries during training seem to heal a lot quicker. And the fact that I went from mostly walking last year to mostly running the 10k. I did fall once, but most everybody fell at least one time. Even the top winners I got a good bruise on my shoulder and scraped chin.

Little by little I am introducing different foods with the elimination diet and started a hair analysis test with an a naturopathic doctor. Hopefully working on nutrition after. The osteoarthritic pain I was having in my hands has not been as much an issue but my voice is still an issue. My stomach issues have gotten better but still much to be improved. I'm gradually weening from my custom orthotics and hopefully strengthening my ankles. I've had some it band issues on the knee and a tendon.

I think there's going to be some changes to what I'm eating for the future. I've already changed my oatmeal breakfast to green smoothies.

I'm beginning to experience hunger pangs in the morning for the first time in several years. Their absence was the result of my diet, sleep habits and complications with my metabolism. I saw a specialist in the past who explained the condition. I didn't have a problem with my thyroid. But I averaged 4-5 hours of sleep and woke early but didn't eat until lunch. She said the gap was too long and I wasn't eating enough overall. The lack of hunger was the result of the rest. My body adjusted accordingly which compromised my metabolism. Suffice to say it was a mess.

But things are better now. I'm sleeping more and my appetite has increased. My metabolism is fine and working as it should. The majority is the result of my diet and the Lord's guidance. We've addressed a lot in prayer but the practical help was meaningful. I resumed the kombucha to aid with gut health now that it's warmer. I don't know if we'll have it year round but we'll see how it goes.

I hoped to pick up cabbages at the farmers market but no one had them. I wanted to make some sauerkraut to tide us over for ferments until the summer. We're on our last jar of kimchi and it's good for gut health too. I think the next step is sprouting. I'm not gluten intolerant. But I do have trouble digesting spaghetti for some reason. I can eat other noodles but it won't stay down. I didn't have success with whole wheat varieties either. They both made me sick.

It may be necessary to make my own. That might be the culprit. I've been working with durum for a month with no problems. The grains aren't an issue. There must be something in the commercial product my body doesn't agree with and I shouldn't be eating it. The shortcut helps but I'll have to give it up.

I thought I missed the cutoff for the raw dairy delivery but I didn't. Farmers aren't allowed to sell raw milk in our state. But you can purchase it on the farm. I found a source in a neighboring state who delivers. It's a wonderful blessing. I hope we like it.

Having an optimal diet is a journey. It doesn't happen overnight. I couldn't eat eggs in the past and bacon made me sick. But I can have them now. We make tweaks here and there and see what works. Monday is Costco day which means bananas. I love them. We eat them fresh and I allow the rest to ripen and turn them into a treat. Last month I did two versions of banana bread and made a brown butter baked pancake with pumpkin puree and bananas. It was really good. I don't know what I'll do this month. I wish I liked smoothies. I don't dislike them I just don't drink them. It would make things easier.

Thanks sampa. I'm glad you're on the mend. :)

Ancient grains helped the most and we're swapping other things as well. We're trying to eliminate takeout. We rarely have it and remove a place every year. Last year was Chik-fil-A and this year is Chipotle. Starbucks was the first thing we gave up a few years ago and other things followed suit. Once I stopped having it I can't eat it now. I can have a burger but Steak and Shakes makes me sick.

That's one of the consequences of restricting foods. Your body may not tolerate it again. I'm not on a restricted diet I'm trying to have the healthiest option. That's why I'm getting better.

You mentioned something similar. What compelled you to do the elimination diet?

I had given up caffeine and anti-inflammatory diet & anti acid reflux in November. It didn't help with my main focus with my voice but I noticed the healing that took place with my left planer rupture on my foot

During Christmas, snowplowing and my birthday season I wanted to have freedom and decided during the lent seasonthat I would try the elimination diet, since I'd already be doing the Daniel fast.

It was so hard! Mostly vegetables and potatoes. I eliminated grains, which was my main source of protein for lunch. Usually I look at cookbooks from the library, but this time there was no time and almost every vegan recipe had things I couldn't have and it was too much Time to coordinate. It was a very busy season with training new people at work, including my boss, 10k training, car troubles and just life in general while preparing for 2 family easters.

Benefits:
  • Calm & able to handle high pressure fast paced deadlines solo and training others and coming up with new methods never tried before.
  • Less inflammation feet and problem with hands that started to in October with joints barely acted up.
  • Stomach releasing the pent up pressure it had before
  • Slight weight loss
  • Better elimination
  • I have a new approach towards breakfast
Cons:
  • Quiet times were lacking (purpose for Daniel fast felt lost, but I did what I could in short spurts)
  • I was soooo hungry and dreaming about food I could eat (but there wasn't time for planning)
  • Elimination diet advised against vegan and having meat, but I pushed forward since it was the best space if time to block out not having social obligations (but I did do a board game night with a friends kids and had some good vegan dip)
  • Still fatigued but energy boost after morning smoothie
  • Headache for 3 weeks ( learned there was caffeine in my electrolytes, caused many nights of little sleep without understanding why at the time)
  • The smell of coffee made me yearn it more from coworkers
After
  • Tons of dreaming. Maybe 15 a night
  • Healing process seems a bit slower after workouts
  • I'm seeing quick reactions to foods as I reintroduce. For example chicken soup my sinuses suddenly acted up and I wanted to lay down and go to sleep. Some foods immediate bloating gassy. Tater tots I immediately started swelling in feet and hands (but not sliced potatoes in oven, a little bit not the same) sugar of coarse affects my immune system (chills and such) but it depends on the form of it.
Well see where this goes. There's another test I'm thinking about taking in the future that's supposed to be for 2 weeks. That's from the book born to run 2. I've been reading a lot of longevity books and weighing options. But I need to get back into the word!!

Eliminating take out fast food is great. And especially that you do it slow pace. I started that process some years ago because I noticed reactions to processed foods like that.

Good grief. You've been through a lot! Are you expected to make a full recovery?

Are you familiar with Nourishing Traditions? You may want to checkout Sally Fallon. She has a channel on YouTube. Many people have resolved issues through that approach. While I don't follow it religiously it's similar to the way we eat. I just focus on seasonality.

We want to reserve those moments for sit down meals instead. I've been canning during the off season and putting ready made options on the shelf. I usually do ingredients but I think both is best. If I was more attentive to meal prepping I'd make things easier on myself. It's one of those "you need to do it stop procrastinating" dilemmas.

Thanks. It's an injury from September 2022. I'm pretty sure it's due to the sports orthotics but no podiatrist will affirm that. The only thing I've been told between two podiatrist is that I will have times of flares.

What happens when it flares?

Orthotics just mask what's going on and does not resolve and adds more problems. I'm so happy to not have hurting calves and flexibility issues like I did when wearing them.

I hope you find better alternatives and natural remedies if possible. Keep praying for healing and stand against the spirit of infirmity.

The stomach & arthritic issues in the hands hopefully will resolve as I change my dietary. Methotrexate did not helped and made more problems. Misr would not be willing to try what I have, but I'm desperate for a better quality of life and freedom from meds.

Trust your gut. I went off medication when I was sick and despite the discomfort it was the right choice. One of them was pulled off the market years later. Which proves it was the right decision.

Same goes for the voice, I m not going to take a vacation day every 3 months for Botox injections the rest of my life. There's not even a guarantee. I have had an understanding staff and friends that have understood when my voice gets strangled it breathy. I will be working with a speech therapist. I've had two different diagnosis, one with the brain and the other the stomach.

Wow. It's difficult when you have a lot going on. I had a horrible bout of headaches years ago. I had lights in my eyes and struggled with dizziness. The MRI came back normal but they sent me to a specialist. When he told me what he was checking for I was terrified. But it wasn't that. He said it was a rare form of migraine. They gave me patches for the pain and they occurred less frequently until they stopped out of the blue. Don't lose hope. :yellowheart:

Praying it's the Lord's will for healing as traveling the country, writing books and having speaking engagements has been my dream after retirement.

If that's the Lord's intention your body won't stop it. The remedy is done. It just hasn't manifested. He may not wait for your retirement. He may have you start in your spare time. You can get someone to do voice overs. It will all work out in the end.

Beautiful! I bought a set 15 years ago but have not touched it. At least I've been developing my gardening skills, and someday hopefully I will get there.

You'll probably want a digital one. They're easier to use and there's less heavy lifting.

I miss gardening a lot. We have a few things to attend to before we go because we won't return. But I'm ready for a change of scenery. My daughter suggested a move to the east coast for our remaining time. I'd love somewhere warm but we know the area. I could resume sewing classes and live outside the city. A house with a garden is ideal.

It will give us a chance to get used to living away from family and hopefully nudge them in the process. If it was up to them we'd stay but they fear the Lord. They see what He's doing and can't ask us to ignore Him. They're slow to change and we're more adaptable.

But we found the area we'll move to in the UK. We get the countryside and it's a short commute for both of us to school. The delay was beneficial. The program I wanted to attend didn't have an online component. When the lockdowns occurred they lost that time. I found a better one that could be completed online just in case.

We had similar results with France. With lots of prayer research we've settled on an area. It wasn't where I thought we'd go but it's better for homesteading and we can grow year round. And I didn't want a farmhouse. The ceilings are low, there's not a lot of light and they're harder to remodel but the beams are pretty. I'm hoping we find it while we're in the UK. Any work that needs to be done can be completed beforehand. Including the land.

I had a vision about it years ago. It was a homestead but the community was there for the harvest. We had food and beverages like cookout. But the overflow was given away. We had a special ministry for the elderly and poor. We gave them food and meat. I was tithing the land and livestock. It was besutiful.

He gave me 4 women from the bible. Ruth was the second and that's a reference to her. It's a modern nod to gleaning. Only the Lord could lay that on your heart. You'll have many stories to share in your books. Get ready. :)
