A note to moderators: I hope this is in order. I wish to discuss endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) with SavedByChrist94 without distracting posts from other members. This will not be a formal debate, but a free-format thread concentrating on the truth or otherwise of the statement in the title. This arose from an exchange in this thread, among others. http://www.christianforums.com/t7755774-post63460437/#post63460437

A note to other posters: Please do not post to this thread. There is a commentary forum where you can post your observations.

OK, SavedByChrist94, I have no idea how much or how little you know about ERVs, so I'd like to start by asking you if you know anything about how retroviruses (like HIV) function? If I say they insert a DNA copies of their own genomes into the DNA of the cells they infect, causing the cells to create more viruses, does this make sense to you? Do you accept it as true?
