A Church That Seeks For Smooth Things

A Rebellious People
Isaiah 30:
8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and note it on a scroll,
That it may be for time to come, forever and ever:
9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children,
children who will not hear the law of the Lord;
10 Who say to the seers, Do not see,
And to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things;
Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
11 Get out of the way, turn aside from the path,
Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

A Church that seeks words from a prophet, rather than wait on the Lord
to speak as He Wills; is a Church that has set up idols in their heart.

Ezekiel 14:
1 Now some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
2 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before
them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. Should I let Myself be
inquired of at all by them?
4 Therefore speak to them, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Everyone
of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what
causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord
will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols,
5 that I may grasp the house of Israel by their heart, because they are all estranged
from Me by their idols.

Ephesians 4:11-13 - "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:11-13 - "So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:11. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

The Holy Spirit gifts and ministries are to function after the Lord's Will. The prophets cited hear
involved people seeking a word from a prophet. The prophet should only speak when spoken to by
the Lord, not at the demands of the people. The church most certainly can fall into the same pattern
of behavior, especially if they lack knowledge of the Lord's Will revealed in the prophets.

Ephesians 2:20. Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ
Himself being the chief cornerstone.
