All that needs to happen is for the Russian troops to go back to Russia and for proper reparations made to Ukraine. Then the International Court could investigate the atrocities committed by Russian forces and the war criminals brought to justice. Simple.

I won't be expecting divine intervention.

Zelenskyy could also surrender and/or desire a truce and make terms of peace. Russia stays in the east and Crimea. But he won't do that. He is insistent that he wants to retake every inch. That will cost thousands of lives and is probably not doable without direct NATO intervention which then would result in catastrophe for all.

Even though Russia was humiliated by the withdrawal of their troops from Afghanistan, the two governments of Russia and Afghanistan maintained cordial relations for a further four years, which is in stark difference to how US forces were forced by the Taliban to leave hastily; before the US withdrawal, those countries who initially supported military intervention into Afghanistan eventually realised that there was no value with maintaining their military forces within a country whose people did not want them there.

So now we see the government of Afghanistan beginning to cooperate economically with not only Russia but also with China – only time will tell how this will work out for the rest of us.
