Nope. Nature has its mechanisms. As for example the sun is not pushed by God every morning, so also meteorites are not being thrown at us by God.

Most meteorites are remains of a planet that was between Mars and Jupiter (and perhaps got ripped apart by their gravitational forces). They fall on Earth when the orbit of the Earth goes through some of them in space.

We can actually forecast when will be a nice sighting of meteorite shower, based on our position in space. For example, now is one of such period, culminating around the 22nd of this month.
