I dont follow.
I was hoping for an actual specific example so I could see what you mean.
That isn't a sentence.Only the erroneous assumptions of religious speculation that has become part of various doctrines.
Imagine if the aliens turned out to be Muslims!
If, or when we discover one of the trillions of inhabited planets in the universe "only the erroneous assumptions of religious speculation that has become part of various doctrines" will be disturbed. We speculated soooooo much about what Jesus meant but did not actually say. Same with the OT speculations about ancient transactions. That's if I understand the context of your query. That isn't a sentence.
Please provide a full thought.
What is OT?If, or when we discover one of the trillions of inhabited planets in the universe "only the erroneous assumptions of religious speculation that has become part of various doctrines" will be disturbed. We speculated soooooo much about what Jesus meant but did not actually say. Same with the OT speculations about ancient transactions. That's if I understand the context of your query.
Of course its a "confining condition".If X, then what would you do?
The X in this case is NOT a hypothesis, it is a confining condition.
OT = Old TestamentWhat is OT?
What ancient transactions?
That argument sounds like the fallacy called after this therefore because of this.OT = Old Testament
The Hebrews relied on the ancient, fragmented oral traditions of Mesopotamia in their narratives. The fragments were the surviving stories of an incarnate Adam and Eve arriving on a previously populated, very old, evolved earth. There is much more to the history of the earth than the young story of creation in the Bible.
Errm, that's over complicating. That argument sounds like the fallacy called after this therefore because of this.
after this, therefore because of this in Latin
translation and definition "after this, therefore because of this", English-Latin Dictionary online
Translations into Latin:
post hoc ergo propter hoc
A logical fallacy where one assumes that one thing happening after another thing means that the first thing caused the second.

Of course its a "confining condition".
Reality is a confining condition.
Its no different than asking what you'd do/think IF an asteroid struck Mecca, or IF you won the lottery, or IF reality was different in any other way than it is right now.
And so, these are reasonable thought-experiments.
Of course we're not to take it as a known truth!Except that in the OP, the confining condition is questionable, and is most likely be false.
So it confines any possible answer in a false condition. We can debate the content in the IF, but we can not take it as a presumed truth.
Of course we're not to take it as a known truth!
Its a "what if" scenario. Isnt that obvious???
Like "what if you won the lottery?"
Would you require that condition to be actually true before approaching the question with your imagination? Or would you label it a "A TRAP!"?
Thats your opinion.I might won the lottery, but there will be no message received by SETI.
Not really. If indeed Noah was God's servant, followed by Shem, Terah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, then one can expect the correct version to have been handed down generation to generation to them. So when such was written down, it would naturally differ from versions that had become corrupted due to false worship. The Bible tells us that the descendants of others, went religiously awry after te Flood.Errm, that's over complicating.
Thats your opinion.
Others think different.
Either way, its not a "trap", not a scenario you are unwittingly and involuntarily stuck in.
Its a though experiment. You can conduct thought experiments on scenarios we consider possible, like "what if I win the lottery?", or impossible, like "what if I grow a tail?" Or "what if Mohammed was God's last prophet?"
Imagine if they turn out to be Benito Mussolini!Imagine if the aliens turned out to be Muslims!
Thats your opinion.
Others think different.
Radrook, I believe the OT was redacted and drastically edited. The Hebrew priest converted a relatively ordinary secular history into a miraculous fiction which has forever warped the common Israelites historical worldview as well as Christianity's. However every time they edited and bloated themselves they left signs of what was in the original writings. Not really. If indeed Noah was God's servant, followed by Shem, Terah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, then one can expect the correct version to have been handed down generation to generation to them. So when such was written down, it would naturally differ from versions that had become corrupted due to false worship. The Bible tells us that the descendants of others, went religiously awry after te Flood.
That would have made them susceptible to demonic doctrinal influences which would have attempted to garble what really had occurred. In other words, just because the garbled accounts were written first doesn't mean that the descendants of Noah via Shem who was blessed, and through whom the seed promised in Genesis 3:15 was to eventually arrive shared the garbled written concepts. That they did not was proven when they finally decided to put what they believed in writing.
In short, just because the garbled versions were written before the correct version was put down in writing doesn't mean that the latter was derived from the former.
In short, temporal priority doesn't necessarily indicate causation.
What comes across is an extreme, inexpicable aversion to hypotheticals.I might won the lottery, but there will be no message received by SETI.
