Has anyone here ever had experience with tarot cards? I've got a couple of Q's to ask.

Yes, Tarot is no different than regular playing cards. I suppose we could assign "meanings" to Ace, 2-10, Jack-King, and Jokers, and it would amount to the same thing.

In fact that's been done too. Cartomancy using what we consider a "standard" deck of playing cards has been done for centuries.

I hadn't heard that, but I'm not surprised.

That's only what you imagine, based on nothing.
No. It is based upon observation of your words and ideas. Why are you so reluctant to offer up the detailed evidence that led to your belief? I may guess as to the reason(s), but you are more likely to be able to provide the answer. Or will you continue to equivocate? My guess is the latter.

Many people speak out in spite of the ridicule they encounter.
Some cases are very compelling by themselves.
By engaging in it yourself, but there is no guarantee things will be 'revealed' to you.

Is there any guarantee, that what you personally experience is accurate?

What makes tarot work?
Demons a.k.a familiar spirits (when discussing Tarot and 'ouya board' etc..)
Because neither the cards nor the participants have the ability to let 'the cards speak' (so to speak), there is something other than the cards and the participants that make it work.

Only for yourself.
Experience is experience, it's what you experience.
The interpretation may be problematic though.

In other words,
Maybe because you look at it biassed yourself.
But the perception is the interpretation of the experience.

Human personal experiences/perceptions are fallable.

And especially so, when no outside independent mechanism can confirm the experience and or perception.

I do not understand---it says you are Anglican. I do not know very much about them, but if you are Christian, I don't understand why you're even asking the question. Just before I came back to God I was getting very deeply into Tarot and had gotten my cards and beginning to learn. I'd had several readings. It was the first thing I walked away from. Why do you care, or even listen to what atheists or agnostics have to say on the matter?? Are you or are you not willing to walk with God? If yes, there is no question that the cards go---if not, then go ahead and use them, and listen to what non-Christians have to say. Why are you asking for advice on a subject that God has already said no to?? The choice you must make is not one of cards---it is are you with God or not--if yes, then do as He says. Throw the cards out and read your bible instead! Right now!!!

This is not a matter that I will engage non-Christians about.
I agree that it is odd for an Anglican to ask how to seek advice through the Tarot.
It's also odd that a different Christian would claim to know so very much about the cards as to make pointed attacks on non-Christians who share their opinion to the OP person themselves.

Speaking of which, they've not appeared to return to this thread in awhile. Why are we keeping it active on a topic that has no business in a Christians life? When they're not responding to the advice offered thus far.

How long did you work with the cards?

Not long, i knew people who did actually, and i tried it too (not as a reader but as a subject).
But i have had some other paranormal experiences or witnessed them.
I have 'studied' the subject well enough to know what's the source behind it.
It's demons / familiar spirits.
In fact it's always demons that facilitate paranormal phenomena.
People don't have the abilities themselves.
People can 'receive' things though, apparently with their '3rd eye', the pineal gland.
Spirits can also work through humans otherwise, like in reiki.

Point is, you can give spirits access to yourself.
This can end up in possession.

Interesting question: how would you know that?

Even if we accept that there is the "paranormal"... have you or anyone else ever witnessed / experienced a "paranormal event" of that kind that didn't involve a human?

No?

So how then can you say that "people don't have the abilities themselves"?

You really do believe that assertions trump evidence every time. Amazing!

Hello

I am not sure whether this is the appropriate area to place this thread, mods feel free to move it somewhere else if you want to.
I've got a tarot addiction - I will not deny it. I was wondering if any Christians on here have had a tarot addiction, and whether I could ask you a couple of questions?

Cheers,

You cannot walk in the light of Christ and in the darkness of the world at the same time.
