Sweet Callie

I really miss my little Callie cat a lot more than I would have thought. I miss our conversations. I miss the way she came out at night for some bonding time. I miss seeing her curled up on top of someone's jacket or on top of the radiator. Come summertime Sweet Callie will not be here to rub her nose on our bare feet. In the last couple days since she died I have had a few moments where I found myself looking down at the floor expecting to see her there. I've caught a fleeting glimpse of something that surely must've been a calico cat. But, no, it was just my imagination.

I don't believe the Bible is clear on what happens to animals upon their death. I like to think that they go someplace nice and don't just cease to exist. But liking a thought does not make it so. What I DO know is that God knows, and I take comfort in that. Another thing I know is that The Bible talks about animals in the afterlife. We will enjoy animals in Heaven. Whether these are our beloved pets or other animals I do not know. Another thing I know is that Heaven is a wonderful place and I am certain that we will be surprised beyond belief how wonderful Heaven will be.

It's hard for me to accept that we can pour our love into an animal, and then when it dies, it just...dies...ceases to exist. It makes me wonder what was the whole point? Maybe animals do just cease to exist at their death. Still, I believe God is very capable of breathing life into nothing and giving it being. That is how our very universe came into being, and how God made Adam, the first man. He made something simply amazing out of material that had no life in it. God is very capable of breathing life into our pets. Perhaps at the resurrection He will do this so that we can enjoy his wonderful creations, all those furry animals we love so much. That is what I want God to do. I know He can. I have the feeling though that God will do even better than what I want from him. I can hardly wait to find out what's to come!
