Why isn't Easter a national holiday celebrated on Monday as others that fall on Sunday are?

Shouldn't we have Monday off for our Easter as well as Saturday following good Friday?

If you all are going to go so far to be against then why are the seculars celebrating Christmas right along with us?. Further i think Easter should be recognized as a holiday on Monday so there. More attention needed to be made of Jesus in this fallen world and for those that don't like it then they can go to work.

I voted NO. Christmas is ruined by the worldly stores, (movie)stars, and (drinking)bars. Why drag The Resurrection down further than it is already, with the candy, the eggs, and Joe Biden's Bunny? "Bad company corrupts good morals (1 Corinthians 15:33)". The secularists have Earth Day which will be a national holiday for all the bankers and government workers soon, I'm sure.

It sounds like you could take your holiday time as you wanted for the most part, same as the rest of America.

So I'm not sure what the problem is? What is the complaint here?

With my husbands family there's a couple nurses and everyone has different schedules so we rarely celebrate holidays together as a family on the exact day, not even Christmas.

We just pick a day we can all make it according to everyone's schedule.

My mom was a banker after my dad died and she had ALL the holidays off... I used to be jealous of that. I mean, I would have liked to have Columbus Day off... Lol. I would have been like " yea! For Chris's bad sense of direction! Woot woot!

Hahaha but that's just jealousy really on my part.
"What is the complaint here?".
Lol

I don't participate in the commercial part. You can honor Jesus in both holidays without secular hoopla. I think there should be more acknowledgement to keep Jesus present to the world.

I agree, but your local Target, Wal Mart, and Hooters restaurant, won't be lifting up Jesus on the new federal "Easter Holiday". Evangelism fail.

We shouldn't have any days off,. Because I'm sure whatever day you have off , something bad probably happened in the past on that day . So therefore your celebrating evil. That's why I never celebrate my daughter's birthday. Do you know why ? Because she was born on April 2oth. The same day as Hitler. So if I celebrate her birthday that means I'm celebrating Hitler .

Well, Easter does come on a Sunday (every year, in fact :)), and many stores and even some restaurants, are closed. So we do indeed have a day off.

I'm not big on celebrating birthdays, but it's silly to connect your daughter's birthday to Adolph Hitler. Who was it connected to before Hitler was born? Napoleon? That means the day now belongs to your daughter.

Except that I was also born on April 20th before your daughter, so really, if you celebrate her birthday, you're really celebrating me.

2023Easter Monday, which falls on April 9,, 2023, is not considered a federal holiday in the US. All federal holidays with time off are non-religious, with the exception of Christmas Day. Easter is a Christian tradition that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and marks the end of Lent."

Why don't Americans get Good Friday or Easter Monday off as a holiday ...

"Why don't Americans get Good Friday or Easter Monday off as a holiday, when you guys are much more religious than Europe or Canada who both get those days off? I just recently found out that Americans don't get Good Friday off, or Easter Monday, and in some cases not even the Easter Sunday for businesses that are open on

The period around December 25 was a Roman national holiday long before Christmas was invented. Christmas slid easily into what was already a pagan holiday period.

Otherwise, the US is pretty stingy with national holidays compared to other nations.

I just found out that my birthday was the same day as the 3 Mile Island disaster in 1978 (I was a teenager when TMI happened so I didn't pay attention at the time)

The Columbine Massecre and the Deepwater Horizon explosion also happened on my birthday.

But, seriously, from a Christian viewpoint, early Christians disdained birthday anniversary celebrations because they don't have a good look in scripture. Scripture only notes bad things happening on birthday anniversary celebrations...someone innocent is always killed when scripture notes a birthday anniversary. And Solomon had said that the day of a man's death is better than the day of his birth.

Instead of having Monday off I would rather have Good Friday off to celebrate His death and resurrection.

Yes it's silly. And that's the point I was trying to make. A lot of people use similar reasoning for not celebrating Christmas, Easter and birthdays. Like JW's. How could celebrating blessings be wrong ? Makes no sense. The people who celebrate Easter, birthdays and Christmas and just following the advice of Romans 12:21

I don't think that doing the same thing and calling it good is what Paul had in mind. Second Corinthians 6 applies.

Celebrating Christ is bad or good ?

If a person performs the same acts that were used to celebrate Belial to celebrate Christ, that is bad.

For instance, strangling animals and drinking their blood were acts used to celebrate pagan gods. There is no way to do that same thing, saying it's for Christ, and call it "good."

And it's just the same issue even if the particular acts don't seem as vile.

Who is strangling animals and drinking there blood ? The Devil has 2 ways to attack Christmas and Easter. He can trick people into worshipping Santa/Easter Bunny and presents and make them ignore that Jesus is the reason for the season. The 2nd way is saying Celebrating Christ means your celebrating Paganism. Celebrating my daughter's birthday does NOT mean I'm celebrating Hitler just because they share the same birthdate. That kind of reasoning is silly and ridiculous.

We don't know what Jesus birthdate was, and yes I'm sure alot of bad/evil things happened in December and April throughout the history of mankind. But how do you overcome that evil ?

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.".

You overcome that evil by celebrating Christ. Celebrating Christ is a GOOD thing. A good way to overcome evil.
