tuition-free/affordable bible colleges

I've heard rumors of tuition-free bible college not sure if they are true or not, but anyway I'm debating whether or not to get a degree from a bible college/seminary.

One big factor is money, mine is tight. Also I have a job a good one that could support an online program, or I could save and eventually go somewhere to attend school.

I've weighed the benefits for me and really I seem to do good either way.

Is anyone in an affordable program right now/or recently finished, that could tell me about it? I am still unsure what degree I would pursue, so it really doesn't matter about that yet, I'm just trying to get an idea about what's out there.

I don't know much about tuition free colleges except that you are usually still required to pay for housing.

i did a quick search and here are some tuition-free colleges I found:

The Cooper Union in New York, N.Y.; Webb Institute in Glen Cove, N.Y.; Berea College in Berea, Ky.; College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.; and Alice Lloyd College in Pippa Passes, Ky

The best one I'm aware of is the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinios. It's a great school that values conservative Christian doctrine. Tution is free, but room and board isn't paid and must be paid on the part of the student.

That's the one I was going to suggest, it is a great school. I visit there a lot, I was there about a week and a half ago, several of my good friends from back home go there.

NationsUniversity is free and online (i think in the US you have to pay $100/year now, but that's still pretty good)...

Mount Carmel Institute of Biblical Studies is tuition free (but there is a fee that's charge to pay the teachers that would handle your grading and such)...

College of the Ozarks is a college not very far from me and I have a few friends that go there. I know that they are required to have a job there on campus and the money they make working goes toward paying for their tuition and such. So they actually "work their way through college."

Just today I found Ames Bible College, which offers tuition-free distance learning. It's not for credit unless you want to pay $20 per course (22 courses total). This will earn a Certificate in Biblical Studies. You can then opt to go on to the Ames Christian University to complete a BA in Biblical Studies (11 more courses at $66 per credit hour, 3 credit hours per course).

I haven't signed up yet until I talk with my pastor. Has anyone else had any experiences with Ames that they would share?

St. Louis Christian College is free if you are full time; but you have to pay room and board...I BELIEVE that it comes to about $2500.

That looks like a really good deal. Total for a BA in biblical studies comes to a little over $2500.

Yeah if anyone has gone through this program I would be interested to hear as well.

I thought they were a loosely based liberal arts christian college. I don't know if they have much bible training or not.

I go to College of the Ozarks, and it's an awesome working college. During the year you work 15 hours a week on campus plus two 40 hour work weeks sometime during the year on one of the breaks in order to pay for tuition. But the other good thing about it is taht if you work for 12 weeks during the summer then it pays for all of your room and board for the next year. they're all 40 hour work weeks sometimes the days seem long, but WE don't have classes in the summer so it.s not too bad. If anyone has any more questions about it, let me know.

Moody is like $4000 a year because tuition is free. If you payed tuition it would be like $20,000 from what I was told. The admissions person told me that if you work 20hrs a week at an on campus job (pays $8.50/hr) that you are easily able to pay your way through college.
