Yes they did. There are no people called canaanites today.
There never were people called "Canaanites", it has always been a catch-all term for different peoples living in that area. Nobody ever arrived in port and said that they were a "Canaanite" like they may have said they were an Israelite or Hittite.

Linux Poet is the person that I was talking to about the Canaanites. Do you respond to comments without first reading them?
I responded to YOUR post. I must have not seen the others. Either way my point still stands.

Nobody disagreed with your point to begin with, nor suggested otherwise. I could respond to your post stating that the sun is hot, and I could inform you that my point stands. But it doesn't really matter if it's not what the discussion was about. Nobody cares if people do not go by "Canaanites" or "Babylonians" in modern times.

An entire people? Most are Arabs from neighboring areas. Hamas created this situation. Trump is just trying to fix it...
I can only imagine how apoplectic Americans would be if, say, a stronger foreign power decided to take over Boston and its, say, 2 million people, and force them to relocate merely on the pretext that a terrorist organization was operating out of Boston.

What Trump is proposing is outrageous and crazy. You don't solve a terrorist problem by forcing 2 million people out of their homes.

This is idiocy, this is lunacy.

Trump's behavior on the international stage is outrageous: threatening to annex Canada against the will of almost every Canadian, and using economic bullying to achieve that goal. And now he is interfering in the most egregious way in the eternal affairs of another nation.

I've already heard Kushner wants to build beachfront condos on the graves of innocent women and children. That's who America voted for.
You think the Palestinians wouldn't do the same thing lol? The hypocrisy is astounding.

It is lunacy. His rhetoric alone makes things harder than it has to be. The fact this idea is being taken seriously is alarming. Think of the irony that he is creating the very same situation that encourages our problems at the border; he's creating refugees and immigrants. Brilliant.

What must the Egyptians and Saudis think?

Trump gets the beachfront property, and we get 3.4 million starving, homeless, savagely PTSD brutalized Palestinians. Where is the justice in that?

Are you serious? This is not at all like that. The entire enclave is a terrorist hive riddled with tunnels and has constantly been shooting rockets into Israel for decades and on October 7th rampaged through southern Israel murdering, raping, pillaging, and taking women, men, and babies hostage - back to that terrorist enclave to be jeered at, spit on, raped, and murdered. Give me a break.

Fair point, but my primary point remains. Suppose some organization like Hamas had taken up operations in Boston, and done all the terrible thing Hamas had done. You Americans would flip out with rage - and rightly so - if some foreign power forcibly expelled all Bostonians.

Trump is a reckless danger to the world.

Still not the same. Hamas = Palestinians. If the Bostonians in your scenario elected the monsters, supported them, participated in every way, programmed their children to hate with a passion. Pray for the utter destruction and elimination of another race and religion then yes, they should be removed or destroyed. Palestinian ideology is a cancer on the region and in every country they have infected.

It would be more like America failing to conquer Boston back in 1776, a hostile pro-British government remaining there for hundreds of years, and then Britain deciding to sponsor terrorist operations from this pro-British enclave.

It seems a priori very unlikely that this generalization of yours will turn out to be correct. If you are effectively claiming that all 2 million residents of Gaza, including many under the age of 18, have voluntarily signed up to Hamas' worldview, then good luck supporting that claim with credible evidence.

And let's suppose that it was indeed true that all Palestinians in Gaza agree with Hamas objectives. And therefore, they are due some moral judgment and punishment. What about Trump supporters in the US? In my opinion, they are morally responsible for making the world a far more dangerous place. Could I then, if I had the power, justify deportung them all on the basis that, in my view, they (Trump supporters) are a real and present danger to the Republic just as Hamas supporters are a danger?

hi there

IMG_3388.jpeg

I mean you quote him and then your post says you’re talking to me?

Anyway, we’re starting to go awry of 2 Timothy 2:14 , so I think we should just call them Palestinians to honor their wishes (and respect their choice to hang out in the land of the Philistines :p).

But also, it’s not a just a name change. Go read Jeremiah 47, the ancient Philistines got destroyed. These are different people who are occupying land previously belonging to the Philistines. It would be like if all the Native Americans died and we moved onto their land and called ourselves by a different name.

As far as I'm aware, the Arabs are descended from Ishmael, and all of the Canaanites are dead.

Here it is. Not sure why the quote was directed at a different person.

For some reason it's linking to someone else's comment. But it's post #65.

We know that though the phillistine army was destroyed, the Canaanite people, more broadly, lived on. And there are still native Americans around today, just as there are Canaanites. Just under a different name.

Alright, I'm moving on!

I disagree with this, because there are some Palestinians who live on the West Bank that aren’t part of Hamas. They are under a different political government and aren’t terrorists as far as I know.

We know that though the phillistine army was destroyed, the Canaanite people, more broadly, lived on.
So do you think that descendants of the biological Philistines are alive today? What evidence do you have for that assertion?

And there are still native Americans around today, just as there are Canaanites. Just under a different name.
I agree with this, my previous remark was an analogy.
