Hmmm.. the last political party that thought it was ok to smash windows, set building on fire and paint swastika's on the property of their political opponents didn't end well for them.

Look like someone has not learned from history.
The narrative continues and what we learn from history is that many people do not learn from history.

Do you understand that conservatives will go with the free market? If the market makes gas cars obsolete then people have to adapt. Instead of some bureaucratic directive forcing one commodity the market does.

Please don’t give me the green energy bit. Most of the green people say electric cars are only a temporary band aid anyway and their impatience must be showing with the Tesla vandalism and violence. Meanwhile coal production ( I thought the “green people” want this abolished) is thriving in China.

When I pointed out the coal plants in China to someone they said they were offset by all the EVs

It is a policy that should be pursued as much as possible trying to export as much as possible.
How are we going to export anything while we have massive tariffs, (in which case our exports would be subjected to retaliatory-tariffs abroad)?
And the trade-deficit explodes.

If you don't know what "retweeting" means I'd suggest looking that up first to help alleviate your question coming across as illinformed.
I suggest going back and reading the post I was responding to

it says a lot more than "Elon retweeted"

it even recirculates the false claim that Elon made a Roman salute

Foreign nations already have massive import tariffs on all US products. That is literally the issue here

and we still export, but not nearly enough. Trillion dollar trade deficits are bad--so some solution needs to be reached

On his first day, President Trump pardoned 1600 individuals involved in vandalizing the US Capitol. It does send a strong message to rest of the country that political violence is acceptable.
I wonder if the next Democrat president is going to pardon these people who are vandalising Tesla cars?
It doesn't seem that the both sides argument works.

Do you understand that conservatives will go with the free market? If the market makes gas cars obsolete...
They're not.
Instead of some bureaucratic directive forcing one commodity the market does.
They have a choice right now and people didn't want them then they wouldn't be built.
Please don’t give me the green energy bit.
I hate wasting my time so I'm not going to explain anything to you.
Most of the green people say electric cars are only a temporary band aid anyway...
Temporary? Your grandkids will know nothing but electric vehicles. Are we going to go back to horse and carts? That makes no sense whatsoever. They are not being built as a stop gap to something else. Temporary..? Uh?
...and their impatience must be showing with the Tesla vandalism and violence.
Please don't tell me that you think some morons torching Teslas has anything to do with green energy. You've maybe not heard of DOGE.
Meanwhile coal production ( I thought the “green people” want this abolished) is thriving in China.
Solar energy will overtake call fired energy perhaps next year in China. They are world leaders in solar technology. The US on the other hand is putting on the blinkers, sticking their fingers in their ears and singing la la la. Trump has called climate change a fake and a money making hoax. Well, leaders like China (and Australia - we're the top country for the uptake of solar panels...the morning sun is powering the tablet I'm writing this on) will be making the money. The US will have to pay us for the technology.

Just a heads up for you. Iran, Libya and Yemen are the three countries that didn't sign the Paris Accord. Guess which country has promised to join that illustrious group. What strange bedfellows...

EVs are not going to take off in the US. The reasons are:

1. Lack of charging infrastructure
2. Lack of energy infrastructure
3. Poor resale value of EVs --once the battery dies, the car dies
4. Higher insurance and registration costs or EVs
5. Higher MSRPs for EVs
6. Americans don't want them: they want gas-power pickup trucks

Our grandkids will see a market where EVs constitute less than 10% of vehicles sold

China gets less than 10% of its energy from solar and wind, and solar plants require natural gas backup (or coal)

Solar isn't overtaking anything--we keep hearing these nonsense statements from green energy fanatics

Luckily there isn't a political party doing it now either. But there is a party that is making gays and people who do not comply with someone's idea of gender second class citizens. They are also warning their base about people 'poisoning their blood'. They're shutting down and are threatening to sue the press. And their head honcho dines with white supremacists and accuses immigrants of eating pets and pardons people who have been found guilty of beating police officers.

And do you know, it's not going to end well for them either...

Who cares if China’s “green” initiatives are so great when their non “green” initiatives are also part of their game plan?

EVs are not going to take off in the US. Our grandkids will see a market where EVs constitute less than 10% of vehicles sold
From here: Google Search

'Combined sales of hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) increased from 19.1% of total new light-duty vehicle (LDV) sales in the United States in 2Q24 to 21.2% in 3Q24, according to estimates from Wards Intelligence.'

Not only are you wrong about your grandkids, you're completely wrong already.
China gets less than 10% of its energy from solar and wind, and solar plants require natural gas backup (or coal)
Very wrong again. Why don't you check the figures before you post them. Or at least link to whatever site that's giving you bogus info. From here: China continues to lead the world in wind and solar, with twice as much capacity under construction as the rest of the world combined

'Wind and solar now account for 37% of the total power capacity in the country...'

And just check their renewable output compared to the rest of the world. If you want to make a list of countries that are dragging their feet then China would be rock bottom last. You might want to look closer to home for a country that to all intents and purposes is going backwards.

The figures you have been posting have been completely wrong. I think you need to re assess who is supplying 'nonsense statements'. Please use links next time.

If China develop cost effective green technology, then they will lead the world on this, it will be extremely lucrative for them.
If USA give up on the race to develop green initiatives then USA will lose out in the future.

In an ideal world everyone would stop digging coal and drilling for oil and spend a fair chunk of their GDP in building up their renewable capacity. That's a not a world in which we live. Some countries, and I'll include Australia here, still rely on coal to a greater or lesser extent. It's Catch 22 in that you need energy to build solar plants, solar panels and wind farms. And until that renewable energy is sufficient then you'll likely need fossil fueled power until you get to the point where It becomes self sufficient. Like South Australia.

From AI: South Australia is a leader in renewable energy, aiming for 100% net renewable energy electricity generation by 2027.

You guys, on the other hand, will effectively be going backwards. And even if things drastically change in 4 years time, it'll, take you another 8 -10 years to catch up.

Exactly right. From AI:

'In 2021, China's National Energy Bureau required solar installations on 50% of rooftop space on party and government buildings, 40% of public buildings, 30% of industrial and commercial spaces, and 20% of rural households.'

And that's a policy from 4 years ago. Can you see Trump pushing for anything like that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he issued an executive order to start dismantling wind farms (got to protect those whales!).

Sometimes the “benefits” of “renewable”energy sound like some pharmaceutical ads.

Effects of wind turbines on environment. Per AI:

Wind turbine blade disposal & recycling challenges:

The pros and cons of solar “farms” ( per AI):

Challenges ( to probably be diplomatic) of solar panel disposal ( per AI):
