A “Star Wars” spinoff is receiving negative attention from fans for pushing LGBT ideology in what has become a trend in recent adaptations of legendary franchises.

While “The Acolyte” premiered Tuesday, it has been clear since long before the series officially became available to the subscribers of Disney+ that the program was designed to appeal to a progressive audience. In an X post last year, the “Star Wars” fan account The Direct announced that “THE ACOLYTE has cast Abigail Thorn as Ensign Eurus, making her the first transgender actor to appear in a #StarWars series.”

Earlier this year, series creator Leslye Headland openly admitted to the goal behind the show in an interview that surfaced on X. “When I saw ‘Frozen’ as a grown woman, I cried through the entire movie,” she recalled. “There was just something about the relationship between the sisters, the … devillainization of the classic kind of fairytale bad guy, you know, the concept of true love being between two sisters and not a heterosexual relationship ... it just destroyed me completely.”

Dang, Dr. Who, and now Star Wars? What's next to be killed off? Star Trek? My favorite sci-fi franchises are getting lobotomized. :(

End times stuff guys.

Guys, if this gender ideology continues to get pushed onto society, I feel that I can no longer hold on to Ecclesiastes 7:10 anymore, a verse that speaks about not reminiscing about the good old days. The old days (2016-17 and before) are better than 2024. I do not feel that Ecclesiastes 7:10 applies to me, cos I do pine for the past, as stated in the yellow part of this devotional. :(

I'm a 24 year old guy who wants it to be the early 2010s again.

And look what they did to Doctor Who ...

as far as I am concerned, these new versions of classic sci-fi series don't count. I don't watch them and don't care.
Before Doctor. Who went woke, tried to watch a couple of new arcs. They had a problem of basically the same theme. Even Gilligan's Island got tiresome there. To be honest, though, I've tried to watch the old Doctor Who, and didn't find them as enjoyable as I once did.

What's ironic is I just remembered a third bit of fanfic I did: a Dr. Who vignette when news broke of a female Doctor. Not a satire, just a vignette that had the new doctor deal with something that came up periodically at least as far back as Jon Pertwee. Just a short vignette by a wanna be hack writer. What's sad is that it seems better than the synopsis of episodes that followed the change of Doctors. The vignette wasn't that good; the episodes were that bad.

I am okay with a woman Doctor, but am not okay where misandry (hatred against guys) or misogyny happens in TV, as men and women are not to be lifted above one another. Also, this trans pronoun stuff has got to go, it is not natural. It is cool that you did a fanfic on Dr. Who though.

You mean that, in the whole galaxy, gender isn’t simply male/female and there are other representations out there?

I’m shocked.

Giant slug drug kingpin, dog-person who is only understood by a few people, green lizard person who definitely didn’t shoot first? Fine. But make them non-binary? That’s is too much. Everybody knows the fake people in the fake show that takes place in the fictional very distant past in a totally invented universe with literal millions of different creatures are all either male or female.

We are pushing woke gender ideologies onto sci-fi alien civilizations. If aliens existed, these ET would be advanced enough to use discernment, and not fall for this stuff. God bless, though. Disney is ruining a classic 47 year old franchise here.

It’s wild you think that alien life would only exist on a gender binary and thinking anything else is the phantom “woke” boogeyman coming to take your gender norms from you. Most life forms on earth doesn’t even exist on a gender binary, but aliens? They’re boy aliens or they are girl aliens. Nothing else. LoL

There is a scene late in the film Logan's Run where two characters basically say "But let's take off our clothes first" and do so. The film Logan's Run came out about the time when showing skin in films helped sell anything that wasn't G rated. Aside of the moral issue, it was essentially checking off a box and wasn't crucial to the plot.

I think that's what we're seeing now. It's:

Studio: "Ooh, ooh, look at us! We're trendy"
Fans: "But the plot stinks."
Studio: "But we checked all the boxes. You have to like it."
Fans.: 'It doesn't entertain me."
Studio: "What does that matter? Are you a bigot or something?'
Fans: "I'm out of here."
Studio: "You're a bigot. Bigot! We don't want your business, anyway."
Fans: "No danger of that."

If you want an SF example, think of the truly terrible SF films after Star Wars proved popular. It was:

Studio: "Ooh, ooh, look at us! It's SF! We're trendy."
Fans: "Eh...I'll pass."
Studio: "But it has spaceships! Don't you like spaceships?"
Fans: "The plot is dumb."
Studio: "Who cares about plot? It's SF!"
Fans: "Bye."

Fans don't want entertainment that checks off boxes. Fans want entertainment that entertains. If a project relies on checking off boxes to sell, it looks like the producers aren't very confident they have an entertaining story. And most times they don't.

It’s not, though.
2 Timothy 4:3 (ESV): "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions"

Guess that time is the 2020s decade, and this applies to both sides of the fence.

That is true, but it has gotten worse. The time is coming closer. Imagine entering a sports car into a bike race, such as the Tour de France, and saying "I identify as a cyclist", when the hard truth, is that the person is a sport car driver. It would be an unfair race.

Which? The film Logan's Run? Yes, unfortunately. The Acolyte? I'll start watching Star Wars fare when imperial troopers have better aim. The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi pretty much put me off Star Wars, and bits and pieces I seen of various films and series since have only reinforced that opinion. The short TROOPS was way better than the official films and series.

When a studio promotes their check list to get people to watch, that's never a good sign. Given that it's Star Wars and they're waiving their check list around, I'll pass. Given the long sad history of check box "entertainment," I doubt I'll miss much.

So given you don’t watch Star Wars in general or the show specifically, how can you comments on the quality of what is included in it? For all you know it’s fantastic and the whole “it’s check box entertainment” is a manifestation of your bias, not the quality of the show. Especially given that the actor, not the character per say, is trans.

The fact that most living organisms on the planet do not operate on a binary gender structure is not a disputed fact. The idea that would be representative of the (fictional) universe in a (fictional) story and the (fictional) organisms in it is not a stretch.
