Significance of the Third Watch?

I've been hearing a number of teachers/preachers talk about the significance of doing spiritual battle between the hours of 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

I think they were saying something about how the enemy is the strongest during this time, but so are we if we can get up/stay up and pray.

Does anybody know anything about this? If so, can you explain (or direct me to something to read about) the spiritual significance of this time period? WoF or WoF-compatible, of course.

I can tell you this... that these are the peak hours in which our bodies need rest...

Seratonin begins to be released in the late evening with the intentions to repair and restore our physical bodies while we sleep. If you are awake during the night and not getting proper rest, you are working against the body's natural defenses to restore and repair physically.

Seratonin is essential to good mental and emotional health. To stay awake past the time when it is released is to do detriment to your mental and emotional health. In people with depression, the seratonin levels get out of balance and affects the person as a whole.

Why should we let the devil's activities determine how and when we should "fight" and when we should sleep???

Please understand, that this is not a rebuke, I believe that we should correlate our lives with the way that God made them.

The devil is an already defeated enemy. We rest in the victory that was obtained by Christ alone. Therefore, we are promised "peaceful sleep" even when the devil may possibly be at his most active state!!!

Otherwise, I have not heard or seen anything concerning the "third watch" practice.

I don't the material to send you to, not yet. But, let me share with you that I have been noticing, through other conversations that the Lord is waking the praying saints up in the middle of the night and having them pray for a couple of hours or so.

I've heard this in more than one place and from more than one source.. and one of the groups was an adult sunday school group at the Church at the Mall .. not a Word of Faith group at all.

I hope someone shares more.

That kinda sums it up. I didn't mean to give the impression that the teachers were suggesting we permanently change our lives around and break all the natural laws He has put into place for our bodies. They were speaking of select warfare, intended to be temporary, like fasting.

I was just wanting to know the special significance of those particular hours. I guess I should have paid better attention when I was reading/watching the teachings.

I've heard the same thing, Crosslight. In fact, I've lived it myself, especially lately.

There were a few, but right now, I can only remember two of them. One was Perry Stone and the other was Scott Holtz, from the Rivers in the Desert International.
