have you guys heard about this preacher called Sid Roth, does anyone know anything about this guy? He seems to be one of those hyper-charismatic ones...

I tend to disregard anyone in the charismatic category, too much garbage in that movement.

Sid Roth is a born-again Jew. He has been around for a while. No time for his spiel.

Purportedly he said 'I will never forget the first time I ate a ham sandwich.' If true, he had turned his back on the covenant God made with his fathers at Sinai. Converts are ALWAYS the zealots for their new religion.

He's a hyper charismatic who has a show on tv about miracles. I've seen some pretty nutty stuff on there.

He has a program called "It's Supernatural". He is Jew-turned-Messianic Jew (i.e., a Judaizer), promoting keeping all the Jewish Feasts (or at least the "Fall Feasts"). His theology is also Word-of-Faith (both of those - Judaizing and Word-of-Faith - are catching on quickly in many Evangelical circles, and often if someone is one of those, they are also the other).

His theology is heretical on many levels.

And it's not so much that he's hyper-Charismatic. Word-of-Faith tends to encompass the Charismatic movement, but the two are separate theological strands. However, although you'll often find Charismatics (often Pentecostals proper... and Pentecostals don't like to be called Charismatic. They'll claim that there is a difference) who are not WoF, you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who is WoF who is not also Charismatic. So it's more that He is WoF, which almost 100% of the time encompasses also being Charismatic, giving the effect of seeming to those outside of those circles as being "hyper-Charismatic".

If I may say..

Not a follower or real fan of the show "Supernatural" as it reminds me too much of a lot of the things that bothered me in the Charismatic/Evangelical movement growing up. That said, I think it should be noted that it's never been the case that all Messianic Jews are Judaizers (seeing how it's condemned in the movement and has been spoken against often..be it by Dr.Michael Brown or Dan Juster and many others)---for there were others in the early church with Messianic Jewish believers and others throughout history who found beauty in Jewish culturee/the Jewish Feasts (i.e. Passover, Shavout, etc) being fulfilled in Christ and celebrated them them but did so out of heritage/freedom rather than doing so to earn any type of favor with God (counter to what the Judaizers did). Other believers who are Orthodox yet Jewish have pointed that out often (more here , here, here and here).

Sid Roth from what I've heard/studied on the man, is Messianic Jewish and has a very great love for the Jewish people.... but very much of the type that's Hyper-Charismatic (more here and here /here) and has been called on a lot of it before by other Charismatics. Don't really tend to keep up with him much due to how it often seems that he's a bit out there on some things, although I'm thankful that it doesn't represent every single person involved in the Charismatic movement at all points since many others have been far more balanced than that.

ironic enoguh ive never heard a messanic Jew being called a judizer, its mostly SDA and herbert armstrong's church that seems to get this insult

Calling someone a judaizer isn't quite an insult, it's a statement of fact if they are. "Heretic" isn't exactly an insult either, IMO. I'm probably in the minority really.

I saw the name and it sounded like a made-up name. I ran it through the anagram mill and came up with "Dis Thor" - perhaps a subtle attack on paganism? :p

OK, OK, I'll shut up...

Please forgive my generalization.

My wife and I have some family who are both Messianic Jews (although they're not Hebrew at all) and rabid Judaizers, and they're very vocal about it. So I tend to automatically link the two together in my head.

It's all good in the hood..:)

More than understand, as I've had the same situation sadly with others doing things in the name of "Messaianic" or "Jewish cultural study" that wasn't even remotely close to what the scriptures/history showed. And not surprisingly, most of that paticular group is Gentiles (more shared here and here on that issue of what I faced with them).

I place them on the same level as WestBoro Baptist when it comes to claiming others need to be "discipled"/thinking they alone have the truth that other churches don't---and where those people (and others like-minded) are at currently are a cult...with them cutting off ties to their family under the leadership of one Jewish man claiming to be a rabbi when he's really a Judaizer 100%/practicing things akin to Kabbalah. Had to recently help a sister in Christ by directing her to healthy Messianic fellowships/others who are well-learned (such as Dr. Michael Brown amongst many others) and have addressed the issue before in helping others watch out for it (as Paul warned of in Philippians 3 ).

Can't stand it---and it really ticks me off whenever the group/others like it start with the idiocy of saying that it's wrong to call oneself a "Christian" as well as saying that the entire Church is responsible for all wrongs done to Jewish people. Thankfully, in doing battle against them/others before, I'm so glad for others who called it out ( more here here , here , here and here ). But it's often a battle whenever people consider those realities and then think all in the camp are like that even though that has never been the case.
