There are many Jews who's day of rest is on a Saturday.

Should shops be open on a Sunday ?
Do you shop on a Sunday ?

A few years back in Wales I remember what was called a 'Dry Sunday' where the pubs were not allowed to open but as time went by this changed.
Today on Sundays anything goes.

So what do you guys think ?

The Sabbath is Saturday. But a business can open and close any day they want to, unless a city has a law against it. Closing on Sunday or resting is not from The Bible. It is more than likely mans misunderstanding or simply mans creating their own Biblical principals. Kind of like deciding to celebrate Jesus's birthday on December 25th, but even that is incorrect. As that is even incorrect, because December 25th is not a day but a date.

It depends where you live. Cities and towns in the UK don't (as far as I am aware) have the right to decide on which days shops can open. (I think the exception used to be that local authorities could choose a day of the week for what was known as "half day closing", when shops would be open in the morning, but closed in the afternoon.)

Many of the states in America have "blue" (Sunday) laws, but it varies as to whether they are still enforced or not. In my home state of Ohio stores would not open until after 1pm on Sundays in the 70's and 80's. It went out the window when mega store chains started popping up and staying open 24 hours. Ohio still restricts the selling of alcohol on Sundays. I'm not familiar with other states, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are blue laws still being enforced here and there.

Do I shop on Sunday?

Yes, I do. I don't plan on Sunday specifically now that I'm retired, but when I worked throughout the week Sunday was the one day I had to get my shopping done. I do not shop on Saturday because I observe the seventh day Sabbath according to the commandment.

Should shops be open on Sunday?

Yes.

Should Sundays still be a day of rest?

No. The Bible answers the question of Sunday. Sunday is not the Sabbath. Therefore, any significance given to Sunday as a Sabbath or a day of rest is not scriptural.

What do I think?

There is a push for Sunday rest specifically. On the surface it seems random and disjointed (seemingly random articles on a regular basis, for instance), but if you look closer there are some powerful people calling for a mandate of Sunday rest. Laudato Si, Project 2025, Green Sabbath, et al.

Prophecy points to a time when worship will be enforced. Those who refuse to worship the beast will not be able to buy or sell, and there will ultimately be a death decree. Will the Sunday rest issue come to a head and be the worship issue of the end time?

I agree, it was Constantine who changed the day of rest from Saturday to Sunday.

Emperor Constantine I Changed the Sabbath to Sunday on March 7, 321, however, Roman Emperor Constantine I issued a civil decree making Sunday a day of rest from labor, stating: All judges and city people and the craftsmen shall rest upon the venerable day of the sun

In Spanish Saturday is Sabado meaning sabbath & it is the last day of the week.

There is no "the day of rest", religiously. Anyone can rest and relax any day or days of the week they like.

In many countries, shops are closed or with limited opening hours during holidays and weekends. If its their culture and people want that, I have no problem with that.

What if...and hear me out...God is saying we need to have a Day of rest because he created us and he knows what's good for us and maybe he made that day of rest, specifically and explicitly because he knew his creation well enough that it was required for optimal performance.

And maybe the particular day one takes as a "Rest" is inconsequential.

Resting on the Sabbath means no work whatsoever, including any kind of housework like cooking and preparing meals. The way I look at is basically anything rich people pay servants to do, should not be done on the Sabbath, if one is going to keep the Sabbath. Probably most Christians who believe in keeping the Sabbath, whether that be Saturday or Sunday to them, only partially keep it. They probably still do laundry, yard work and gardening, go shopping to stock up for the week etc.

Notice though that there's no mention of the Sabbath or switching Saturday to Sunday. Constantine isuued a governmental civil decree, not a decree made by bishops of the church.

I remember when everything used to be closed on a sunday. I wish it was like that now. Thing is, the world is now anti God, anti religion. Sadly..

There's still a lot of businesses that are closed on Sunday downtown where I live. And there's a lot less traffic. Sunday still stands out as the low activity day of the week.

Are you Seventh Day Adventist, Seventh Day Baptist etc?

Forgive my ignorance.

Sunday is the day of the resurrection, for Christians, who have Church on Sunday, that's their "day of rest" to worship God.
By perverse choices historically, putting tradition over truth, tradition instead of Scripture.
