Same here. Honestly, when I first learned about the universe, I felt my faith in God strengthen, as it made me realize how small we are.
Yes, everything seems to have a lesson to be learned. Even the idea that a day is equal to 8 billion years. A lot of people can not even wrap their brain around that. It is amazing how tiny an instant is. Yet everything that every is was here that first instant of time.

Luckily, my parents are OECs. :) But yes, 8 billion years is around 100 million times the human lifespan.

End times events:

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10... To give relief to you who are afflicted, to us as well, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in blazing fire. There He will punish those who refuse to acknowledge God and will not obey the gospel. They will suffer the penalty of eternal destruction, cut off from the Presence of the Lord when He comes to reveal His glory amongst all believers.

This is a controversial passage, because depending on how you look at the end times, you can read it as one event- that is the judgement of the nations/wicked peoples and the Lord’s Return, simultaneously or as two separate events, perhaps years apart.

Careful analysis of this Bible passage and parallel scriptures shows that in fact the judgement ‘in blazing fire’ does occur first and His enemies ‘suffer the penalty of eternal destruction’.
At the same time, the Lord comes to reveal His glory’ to His own people. As we see in Revelation 14:1 and Isaiah 24:23

Here are Scriptures that describe the glorious second coming of the Lord Jesus, when all the world will see Him, that will come after all the rest of the prophesies for the last days:
Zechariah 14:2-5 I shall gather the nations to make war on Jerusalem; the city will be taken....Then the Lord will go out and fight them....On that Day, His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives. Then the Lord will appear, attended by all His holy ones.

Matthew 24:30 Then will appear in heaven the sign that heralds the Son of Man... they will see Him coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Revelation 19:11-21 I saw heaven wide open and a white horse appeared, its Rider’s name was Faithful and True.....He was robed in a garment dyed in blood....He will rule the nations with a rod of iron and carry out the wrath of God..... against the Beast and the kings of the earth with their armies mustered to do battle..... the rest are killed by the sword which came out of the Rider’s mouth. NOT by fire, as happens earlier.

Jesus returns in power and glory, visible to all when He destroys the armies attacking Jerusalem. This happens at the end of the Tribulation period and is the commencement of His Millennial reign. Note that He appears ‘robed in a garment dyed in blood’. This means that He has carried out a judgement/ punishment before His Return in glory.

Isaiah 63:3-4 I have trodden the press alone, I trod the nations in My anger, their blood spattered My garments. I resolved on a Day of vengeance, the Year for redeeming My own had come. Rev. 14:17-20

More prophesies on the event called the “Day of vengeance” or “the Day of God’s wrath”:
2 Samuel 22:8-16 and Psalms 18:7-15 He parted the heavens and came down. The earth shook and quaked because of His anger. Smoke and devouring fire came from Him. He swooped on the wind, covered by darkness and dense vapour. Thick clouds went before Him, with thunder, hail and glowing coals. He loosed His arrows far and wide and hurled lightning bolts round His enemies.

Habakkuk 3:12 Furiously You traverse the earth, in anger You trample down the nations.

Isaiah 66:15-16 See, the Lord is coming in fire, like a whirlwind, bringing retribution in His furious anger. The Lord will judge with fire and many will be slain by Him.

Hebrews 10:27...a terrifying expectation of judgement – a fierce fire that will consume God’s enemies. Reference: REB some verses condensed.

Although, at the Lord’s Return, there will be a judgement – of the Anti Christ and his armies, this isn’t the same as the worldwide event described above, to happen earlier.

This terrible, devastating worldwide disaster, will be triggered by an attack by an Islamic confederation on the State of Israel. It will change the world and a One World Government will be formed, but the Lord’s faithful righteous people will gather and live in all of the Holy Land.

Hello folks. I am a 24 year old man, a Christian, as most of you guys know. My parents are Christian (recently converted to Catholicism), but they do not believe that we are living in the End Times, and that Revelations is more metaphorical for something that happened 1900 years ago, which was Nero. My folks told me, that because of so many failed predictions, discussing the end times is bad. We both agree that credit scores are probably not the Mark, and we 100% agree the vaccine is not the mark (my folks and I are vaccinated, and are for pandemic safety). But, I told them that the Mark may happen in the future, but they are not convinced. What should I tell them? I do think Nero was the start of the end times, but that the End Times is kicking into high gear in the 2020s. We may only have a decade or two (2030s) to a few centuries (say, maybe the 2300s) left here on this Earth.

Failed Predictions:
1994 (Camping)
1997 (Applewhite)
2000 (Y2K)
2011 (Camping again)
2012 (Mayan calendar)
2019 (Weinland)
2020 (Dixon)
2024 (Eclipse)
Your parents are older and wiser. They came out of Dispensational Futurism because they unveiled the truth. That being said, this does not mean that everyday we get closer to His second comming but it does mean that we do not need to live in fear of dates and catastrophes.

Let us reason.

Do some" deep" research before believing things meant for itching ears. I was once a DF and it was a huge weight off me when I finally came to the truth. Now I do not walk in fear and I do not waste time or energy on things that are inherintly deceptive but rather, focus on Love and the spreading of the " Good News"!
Be blessed.

It is a good idea to spread the Good News, instead of worry on the future or end times.

Agreed. The failed prediction list that I made was purposely made for the past 30 years (1994-2024), but the failed predictions go back centuries.

The Catholic Church does not provide a specific teaching on calculating the exact date of Jesus' Second Coming or "return." In fact, it encourages its members to focus on living holy and faithful lives in the present, rather than attempting to predict future events. This is based on biblical instructions such as Matthew 24:36, Mark 13:32, and Acts 1:7 which state that only God knows when Jesus will return. Therefore, any attempt to calculate this date would be speculative at best and potentially misleading.
Focus on living a faithful life and don’t worry about any end time prophecies. This too, shall pass.

It is a good idea to spread the Good News, instead of worry on the future or end times.
But God has given us a lot of information about what He plans for our future. For example, all of Revelation from Rev 6:12 to the end, waits to be fulfilled. Paul says: we Christians should not be in the dark, 2 Thess 5:4-5, about what must happen.

In 2 Thess 5:1-3 we are told the Day of the Lord will come unexpectedly. This cannot refer to the glorious Return, as that Day will not be unexpected; as the armies of Satan gather at Armageddon and we know the Return will come 1260 days after the Temple is desecrated.

The sudden destruction that Paul prophesies, in verse 4, will be the Sixth Seal event of worldwide disaster. Prophesied and vividly described in over 100 scriptures. THAT is what we should know about and be prepared for.

I think the return of the Jews to the Land in 1948 was a stake in the ground of History indicating a late hour.

The end times are upon us and have been since our Lord ascended into heaven.

What does the first Chapter say about The Revelation of St. John? Our Lord states right off the hop that it is 7 letters to the 7 Churches in Asia Minor. Only one of which survives to this day; Mira (now Ismere Turkey; and it is Eastern Orthodox). The book was prophetic for those Churches, and is to be taken as advice by us all, so that we can be watchful to avoid the errors made by those early Churches.

Instead, I sat around waiting for the Antichrist to show up, and he never did. I wasted so much time worrying about nothing.
Here I thought the point was to work harder, and get more done in a short period of time, because we don't know when the chance will be taken away.

I guess the one given 10 talents doubled those talents. The one given 1 went and hid it, out of fear? Seems you were around those who hid their talents, instead of used them?

I believe Jesus is coming back SOON and I appreciate what was said about sharing the gospel and not worrying..as Christians we do not need to worry

Hey, thank you. What should I tell my folks, if I want to bring up the End Times to them?
Tell them to watch.

Mathew 24
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.

44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Maybe not watch, but to prepare as per the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. Be ready or be left behind. We may physically die before the last day, so we need to always be ready.
