Voter ID laws have emerged in the last decade as part of a wider push by Republican legislatures, ostensibly with the aim of curbing voter fraud, says University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Kenneth Mayer. But he says the laws' real aim is to keep voters who are more likely to vote Democrat - like the young, poor or African-Americans - at home.
"It's a common trope that everybody has an ID. You need an ID to get on an airplane… to open a bank account. But there are people who don't have bank accounts, who don't fly," he says.
Madison is one of the most leftist cities in the country, but one brave student did actually leak the professor's syllabus for a course.
U-Wisc Syllabus Calls Trump ‘Catastrophically Unfit Egomaniac’
This is a slur, a smear by the professor, who claims to know the "real aim" of such voter integrity laws. I don't believe in mind reading. As I've said before, if there were dozens of people in the country who could not vote because they did not have ID the media would be interviewing them and parading them out. You need an ID to buy cigarettes, to drive, to rent an apartment, to collect food stamps, or to cash a check. How many people do you think there are in the United States who wanted to vote but had no ID because they had never cashed a check, never received food stamps, and never been employed? Stevil, in your country you have continued fighting over the Maoris representation in government, why so concerned about the United States?

You truly need to read the fact checks:
Fact check: List of partly false statements on the 2020 election

And you are slandering the FBI and Soros.
This isn't the conspiracy forum.
Please quit falsely accusing me. Try to discuss the subject without making personal attacks against me.
Pointing out when the FBI or any part of the federal government operates outside of the U.S. Constitution is not slander. My mom worked for the FBI. The Bill of Rights was created to check the powers of the federal government. That means a search must have a warrant "particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." A warrant that does not do this is a violation of the Constitution. Likewise, the federal government may not make a law "abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." This means if Mike Lindell wants to say the election was stolen, he can say it, and the government can't seize his property or go after his business because he says such a thing. This is why Alan Dershowitz got involved, he does not agree with Mike Lindell or his politics, but he is outraged and disappointed that others are not aghast at such violations of our Constitution.

The strange thing is,
1, there was no significant voter fraud in 2020
2, USA is behind most other developed nations in terms of voter turn out.
3, Voting in USA is already difficult for many, especially minorities

Rather than trying to fix this and make voting easier, the Republican party are going out of their way to make voting more difficult. Citing a desire to reduce voter fraud. (which isn't a problem of any significance)

In their own words: Why some people find voting difficult
There are age and racial differences in views of whether voting will be difficult. About one-in-five adults under 30 who plan to vote (22%) say it will be difficult, compared with 13% of those 50 and older. Among those who plan to vote, blacks are more than twice as likely as whites to say it will be difficult (29% vs. 13%).

Concerns about logistical hurdles are mentioned by more than a fifth of these voters (22%). These include long wait times and large crowds at the polls (6%), not having enough time to research the candidates and ballot propositions in each race (6%), personal scheduling conflicts (4%), lack of polling places or difficulty in accessing voting stations (3%) and uncertainty about how to vote in general (3%).

US election 2020: Why it can be hard to vote in the US
Queues, restrictive voting laws and limited access to polling stations all keep people from participating in the democratic process, says Andrea Hailey, the CEO of Vote.org, a non-partisan non-profit that aims to use technology to help people register to vote.

There are currently over 300 lawsuits in 44 states concerning how absentee votes are counted, who is allowed to vote early and how mail-in ballots are collected. Republican-run states say restrictions are necessary to clamp down on voter fraud, while Democrats say these are attempts to keep people from exercising their civic rights.

In Georgia, thousands of voters waited hours just to cast their ballot during early voting. Many attribute the long wait to voter enthusiasm, but other factors - like a limited number of polls, understaffing or computer glitches - have also been blamed.

It's not known how many people are put off from voting because of the queues. But it's clear who it inconveniences more.

A survey conducted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that black voters waited, on average, 16 minutes in line during the 2016 election, while white voters only waited 10 minutes. Other studies backed that up.

And long queues disproportionately affect wage workers, who don't get paid time off to vote.

Policies like requiring voters to print out a form can dissuade younger or poorer voters, who are less likely to own a printer, from voting, says Ms Hailey.

In rural parts of America, voters may have to drive for hours to reach an in-person polling station.

Four Directions, a Native American voting rights advocacy group, says that many Native Americans living on reservations have limited access to voting.

In Nevada, for instance, members of the Pyramid Lake Paiutes must drive almost 100 miles (160km) round trip to get to the closest early voting location.

In Arizona, a lawsuit filed by members of the Navajo Nation asked for extra time to get postal votes in, because there is just one post office every 707 square miles.

In the US, no evidence of widespread voter fraud has emerged. A commission launched by the Trump administration to look into the 2016 election was disbanded without publishing a report.

All of which are anecdotal. At least the video I showed you are actual people talking about their viewpoints and experiences. What you have posted is more anecdotal and even hearsay in that it's secondhand accounts.

Have you read the warrant yourself? If not, you are simply assuming that it was lacking what is needed. Only parts of it have been released. If it was unconstitutional to take it with that warrant, he can sue the government.

And Mike Lindell can say any lie he likes about the election .....to a point.
A lie becomes slander when there is an intent to harm, for instance. And Mike has to deal with this:

Mike Lindell served with defamation lawsuit by Ex-Dominion staffer in video

"[Lindell] has claimed, without evidence, that Dr. Coomer committed treason and that he should turn himself into the authorities. Defendants have published these numerous false statements, defamatory interviews, and other dishonest content maligning Dr. Coomer on the website frankspeech.com, often alongside a sales pitch for products from MyPillow.".....

Lindell is already facing a $1.3 billion lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems over his false claims its machines manipulated votes to rig the 2020 Election.

I don't know why exactly the FBI needed to have his phone in regards to a criminal case in Colorado, but Lindell apparently has been real active there:

The 4th amendment to our Constitution prohibits general warrants such as was served on the Trump residence, Garland is well aware of the Constitution but decided to shop for a magistrate instead of a regular federal judge and found a magistrate who had posted anti-Trump material. These attacks on Democrats political opponents must stop, we may have to defund government organizations and start over.

And there have been 0 (zero) motions made by Trump to invalidate the search based on it being "general" or "overbroad". Nope, instead they want back "personal" material and "privileged" material.

You really have no excuse for not knowing this is utter nonsense. Since it seems inconceivable that you don’t know that, there is no excuse for your repeated promotion of blatant lies either.

When the Special Master and his team go through the material that was taken, those motions will no doubt follow. Since 11,000 documents were taken, and only 100 supposedly fit the scope of what the warrant allowed to be taken, there is plenty that indicates that this warrant was carried out as a General Warrant.

The classified info was kept loosely in boxes along with letters, newspaper clippings and various other odds and ends. I’m sure you can work out for yourself why the mixed up contents were not sorted through during the search.

All 11,000 fit the scope of the warrant (government records), only 100 are so toxic to possess that each can bring 10 years in prison.

The non-government document items taken were all stored with government documents and are therefore evidence as well.

How do you know it is a "general warrant"? Have you read it all? Where is the law about "general warrants"?

I ask if you read it because you seem unaware that Lindell shared some of it(I could be wrong and you did read it):

Read FBI's Mike Lindell search warrant "items to be seized"

"ATTACHMENT B Items to be Seized I. The physical cellular telephone assigned call number [Redacted] "LINDELL CELLPHONE"; and

2. All records and information on the LINDELL CELLPHONE that constitute fruits, evidence, or instrumentalities of violations of 18 U.S.C. §§ 1028(aX7) (identity theft), 1030(aX5XA)(intentional damage to a protected computer), and/or 311 (conspiracy to cufflink identity theft and/or to cause intentional damage to a protected computer)-(the "SUBJECT OFFENSES")-those violations involving Tina Peters, Conan James Hayes, Belinda Knisley, Sandra Brown, Sherronna Bishop, Michael Lindell, and/or Douglas Frank, among other co-conspirators known and unknown to the government (the "SUBJECTS"), since November 1, 2020, including:

a. All records and information relating to damage to any Dominion computerized voting system, including any impairment to, or attempt to impair, the integrity or availability of data, a program, a system, or information:

b. All records and information relating to BIOS on any Dominion computerized voting system, including any modification to, or attempt to modify, a BIOS setting.

c. All records and information relating to the attachment of any peripheral to any Dominion computerized voting system, including any USB flash storage drive or other external storage media;......
It goes on. How "general" was that?

I'm not sure they can Tom. Anyway there are a couple of threads about the Mar-a-Lago search, and this isn't even about that at all. A completely separate crime that Trump seems to have no finger in.

If any warrant is overbroad it is the Lindell phone warrant (the topic of this thread). Though I'm not sure how you sort out "Colorado election machine fraud" evidence from non-evidence without going through the whole phone.

So much for the claims of those other 10,900 items being his own personal items then.

A phone is mostly for communicating with others. It would seem that the FBI are more interested in going after people he communicated with. So, just as 40 more warrants were issued after raiding Trump's home and getting information there, it's likely we can expect more warrants to be issued based on contacts of Mike Lindell. It's called "going fishing".

This ‘if you didn’t see it you can’t know’ line is a bit silly. If it were a credible way of looking at the world, it would eliminate the majority of what any of us thinks.

The problem goes deeper though. Significant numbers of people have somehow become convinced that the random notions going through their heads are more accurate that whatever news source it is that doesn’t conveniently match up with those random notions. These kinds of delusional ways of thinking don’t bode well for the future human race.

15 years ago maybe. Not anymore. A smartphone is a portable computer, increasingly used for the kinds of business transactions people used PCs for a decade ago.

What doesn't bode well for the human race is when obvious and predictable patterns of behavior repeatedly happen at upper levels of government that slowly erode the freedom and safety of the people, and we even have history as a reminder of where such behavior leads, and yet the majority of the people still place their faith in the same entities that have been shown to be the most abusive of the people.
