In the Olivet discourse verses, Jesus applies to Israel, (1) near term, (2) long term, and (3) in the latter days, end times. Yes, Israel is God's time clock.

On the Day of Pentecost Peter addressed the crowd as "all the house of Israel" in the verse below, when about 3,000 Israelites accepted the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34.

Who was Peter talking to in the verse above, if he was not talking to Israel?


In Romans 11 Paul used the Olive Tree as a symbol of the New Covenant Church made up of a remnant of faithful Israelites, and faithful Gentiles grafted together into the same Olive Tree. In the passage Paul still considered himself an "Israelite", even after his conversion.


James addressed his letter to "the twelve tribes", who were his "brethren" in the "faith".

Jas 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
