When I grow out leg and armpit hair I feel manly, so is it wrong to shave it?

The sin isn't the shaving - the sin is in a society which demands it, and has convinced you that your natural form is bad and must be 'fixed'. A society that equates femininity to artifice, and not nature. Just as masculinity doesn't come from products, neither does femininity. You may not be aware, but many European women have armpit hair and they're some of the most stylish women on earth.

Meantime, it's definitely a sin for a man to shave his face. A sin against womankind! I am joking there of course, but as a woman who can't stand clean shaven male faces, I thought I'd have some fun :p

That depends on the motive for shaving and the situation.

Under the Law Covenant all Israelites were forbidden to shave but especially those of the priesthood.

Leviticus 21:5
NIV
"'Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.

A prophet might be told to shave for prophetic purposes:

Ezekiel 5:1
"Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber's razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair.

The heathen nations shaved in mourning. Israel was not to imitate that example.

Deuteronomy 14:1

You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,

Women with beards are interesting. I've seen a couple.

Off topic. What's the deal with the half-shaved look? A lot of celebrity dudes--like Ben Affleck here--have this beard stubble. I don't get it. Is this attractive? It looks sloppy to me--like somebody just woke up and didn't have time to shave. And how do you keep it like that? Is there some kind of razor that leaves only stubble?

I like the stubble look :) seeeeeexy... Sadly Hubby cant stand having stubble for long but I finally got him to grow a short goatee.. He uses a trimmer to keep it short & could do the same for the short stubble look, ie just use a short guard on the trimmer

It's not half shaved since it's not shaved at all. It's a very short full beard and mustache.

Off topic. What's the deal with the half-shaved look?

I always put it down to men who are too feminised to go full bristle, but who recognise that in 2016, beardlessness is unacceptable in anyone under the age of 50. I refer to them as 'lady beards'.

Just let it grow, dude. Still, it's better than the alternative, a clean shaven face :whyy:

My wife has never seen my philtrum. Not ever in 44 years.

I have an 80 year old father who has never shaved. Not once in his life. Though I understand he did trim a little in the 1950's - to remain socially acceptable. He was still viewed as a dangerous eccentric, even then. The guy was dapper and cool, but dapper and cool only worked in San Francisco and Paris, at that particular juncture. :p

I shave every ten or so days. My beard isn't particularly thick and when I shave it comes off easily. Sported a very short beard for approx eight years. This shaving got popular with Alexander The Great who wanted to preserve a very youthful appearance. At least that's one explanation I read on how shaving became popular within the Hellenized part of Europe.

Before the advent of razors, hair was sometimes removed using two shells to pull the hair out or using water and a sharp tool. Around 3000 BC when copper tools were developed, copper razors were invented. The idea of an aesthetic approach to personal hygiene may have begun at this time, though Egyptian priests may have practiced something similar to this earlier. Alexander the Great strongly promoted shaving during his reign in the 4th century BC because he believed it looked tidier.[4] In some Native American tribes, at the time of contact with British colonists, it was customary for men and women to remove all bodily hair using these methods.[5]

Sherrow, Victoria (2006). Encyclopedia of Hair: A Cultural History (Google eBook). Greenwood Publishing Group. p. 142.
Brown, Kathleen (2009). Foul Bodies: Cleanliness in Early America. Yale University Press. ISBN 978-0-300-10618-3.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaving

BTW
My father had facial hair similar to sandpaper. Shaved in the morning and at evening it had grown back. Decided to copy my aunt's husband by plucking. He plucked once and developed vitiligio. Mt aunt's husband is still plucking with absolutely no ill effects. My father refused to disinfect with alcohol to avoid the burning sensation. In contrast, my aunt's husband used pure alcohol although his face became cherry red and he grimaced in agony.

Hmmm. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, most churches taught it was a sin to have any facial hair. Or hair on top of your head longer than about 2".

I remember that strong aversion. I was told that I could never be an elder in the church unless I shaved my mustache.

If it is for hygenic reasons then no, it depends on the motive if you do it. Like i have heard men shaving because of lewd desires which i find purely disgraceful. But i can't say if women shave for hygenic reasons, but i will assume thats why they do it, but if that is the case then its nothing to worry about. Just like men shave their beard its nothing unormal.
