Leviticus 21:5
NIV
"'Priests must not shave their heads or shave off the edges of their beards or cut their bodies.
Ezekiel 5:1
"Now, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it as a barber's razor to shave your head and your beard. Then take a set of scales and divide up the hair.
Deuteronomy 14:1
You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,
The sin isn't the shaving - the sin is in a society which demands it, and has convinced you that your natural form is bad and must be 'fixed'. A society that equates femininity to artifice, and not nature. Just as masculinity doesn't come from products, neither does femininity. You may not be aware, but many European women have armpit hair and they're some of the most stylish women on earth.
Meantime, it's definitely a sin for a man to shave his face. A sin against womankind! I am joking there of course, but as a woman who can't stand clean shaven male faces, I thought I'd have some fun![]()

Off topic. What's the deal with the half-shaved look?

Off topic. What's the deal with the half-shaved look? A lot of celebrity dudes--like Ben Affleck here--have this beard stubble. I don't get it. Is this attractive? It looks sloppy to me--like somebody just woke up and didn't have time to shave. And how do you keep it like that? Is there some kind of razor that leaves only stubble?

My wife has never seen my philtrum. Not ever in 44 years.
I shave every ten or so days. My beard isn't particularly thick and when I shave it comes off easily. Sported a very short beard for approx eight years. This shaving got popular with Alexander The Great who wanted to preserve a very youthful appearance. At least that's one explanation I read on how shaving became popular within the Hellenized part of Europe.I like the stubble lookseeeeeexy... Sadly Hubby cant stand having stubble for long but I finally got him to grow a short goatee.. He uses a trimmer to keep it short & could do the same for the short stubble look, ie just use a short guard on the trimmer
Before the advent of razors, hair was sometimes removed using two shells to pull the hair out or using water and a sharp tool. Around 3000 BC when copper tools were developed, copper razors were invented. The idea of an aesthetic approach to personal hygiene may have begun at this time, though Egyptian priests may have practiced something similar to this earlier. Alexander the Great strongly promoted shaving during his reign in the 4th century BC because he believed it looked tidier.[4] In some Native American tribes, at the time of contact with British colonists, it was customary for men and women to remove all bodily hair using these methods.[5]

Hmmm. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, most churches taught it was a sin to have any facial hair. Or hair on top of your head longer than about 2".Meantime, it's definitely a sin for a man to shave his face.
I remember that strong aversion. I was told that I could never be an elder in the church unless I shaved my mustache.Hmmm. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, most churches taught it was a sin to have any facial hair. Or hair on top of your head longer than about 2".
If it is for hygenic reasons then no, it depends on the motive if you do it. Like i have heard men shaving because of lewd desires which i find purely disgraceful. But i can't say if women shave for hygenic reasons, but i will assume thats why they do it, but if that is the case then its nothing to worry about. Just like men shave their beard its nothing unormal. When I grow out leg and armpit hair I feel manly, so is it wrong to shave it?
