Hello, and I have a question about a band called Iron Maiden. Now, I know they did a couple bad/satanic things. They put out an album called Number Of The Beast about the mark of the beast, and on a single called The Trooper, Eddie (their mascot) had one his uniform the mark of the beast. And they put out a bad DvD. However, my dad does not want me listening to them because he claims on every one of their albums they had a pentagram and the mark of the beast.
But on the back of an album (Piece Of Mind) they put a bible verse on it. And their drummer is also Christian.
And that leads me to a couple questions:
A. What are your thoughts on Iron Maiden being satanic?
B. Did they have any pentagrams on their albums? If so, what albums and where?
C. On their albums I have seen these little icons, figures and its like a face, and it is a circle with an arrow pointing downwards, and an arrow to the eye. You can see it on the bottom of their single, The Trooper. Do you have any idea what it is? If so, what is it and is it good or bad?

Thanks for reading!

there's nothing i found wrong with them. also you should keep in mind there's nothing wrong with the pentagram. its first use was that to represent beauty and then it was slandered by a church i will leave nameless because i don't want to spark a fight. i personally love the song trooper.

The Number of the Beast, is inspired by a nightmare that the bassist of Iron Maiden had after watching a horror movie about the antichrist (Damien: Omen 2).

Iron Maiden might have have dark/occult themes in some of their songs, but only in a fictional way, for the purpose of storytelling. They in no way endorse satanism or black magic. They have gone on record as saying that the implication that they endorse Satan or satanism, is "complete rubbish."

If certain songs of theirs make you feel uncomfortable or convicted, then perhaps you should skip them, but Iron Maiden is not an evil/satanic band at all.

P.S. Iron Maiden's drummer, Nicko McBrain, is a Christian:

Iron Maiden is not satanic at all. They've said so themselves. Add to that the fact that actual Satanists have gone on record saying that most metal bands are not representative of Satanism.

In fact Satanists will generally disregard rock music because Satanism deals with individuality and Rock music or metal generally promotes self-destructive behavior and conformity under the guise of individualism. That's not what Satanists preach at all.

Again, father of lies.

Don't you think it would hurt their image if they outright said they were satanists?

They glorify the beast. Watch their videos.

Look at their live concerts.

When's the last time you seen christians with Goatheads and pentagrams?

God is the Creator of Satan, not his father.

God kicked Satan out a very long time and gave him power over the air.

Satan is in charge of a kingdom that is perishing, God is in charge of the Kingdom that is eternal.

Again, lies lies lies, Do you people really believe the media?

Look at what the media and the world has to say about Jesus, then compare to music, tv, and books.

I am pretty sure they are very contradictory and like when God rained down fire on Sodom, he is going to do so to the world.

He said in the end times He is saving the destruction for the Flames.

No I don't. Satanists will gladly admit they are Satanists because most of the time people have no idea what a Satanist is or actually believes in. I take it you're one of those people.

Don't worry, I'm not here to sell you on Satanism.

They glorify the beast. Watch their videos.
I have. No they don't.

Look at their live concerts.
I have. They don't glorify anything other than the themes of their songs. And I wouldn't call it glorification. It's just part of the show. A show no one is forcing you to attend.

When's the last time you seen christians with Goatheads and pentagrams?
Christians are usually too superstitious to sport pentagrams (even though a pentagram really has nothing to do with Satan).

God is the Creator of Satan, not his father.
God is the creator of man, He is his father. God is the creator of Satan, He is his father.
Obviously, Satan must have been a part of the Divine Plan or he wouldn't exist. Unless you think God didn't see that coming in which case He is not omniscient.

God kicked Satan out a very long time and gave him power over the air.
If Satan is oh so bad, why would God give him any power at all? This is a serious question I have about Christian mythology.

Satan is in charge of a kingdom that is perishing, God is in charge of the Kingdom that is eternal.
Hell isn't eternal?

Again, lies lies lies, Do you people really believe the media?
Do you?

OK. That still doesn't change the fact that Iron Maiden is not a Satanic band. The lyrics are inspired by Christian mythology and tend to concentrate more on the dark side of the story but that does not make it Satanic.

Serious question: Have you read Dante's Inferno? If so, would you consider that to be Satanic?

As a side note, Iron Maiden isn't even relevant anymore as a band. Most of the people who listen to Iron Maiden are angry 15 year olds who haven't yet discovered better music. If Satan is trying to get people away from God, he needs to use something much more contemporary than a band that had it's heyday in the mid 80s.

Hey now. Some of us still love them.

Granted, it is probably my 15 year old angsty self reliving something through blasting Somewhere In Time as loud as I can through large, cheap headphones...

One of Iron Maiden's songs is called "Moonchild", which was based off a book by satanist Aleister Crowley. Here's a quote from their singer.

“… we’ve referred to things like the tarot and ideas of people like Aleister Crowley” (Circus, Aug. 31, 1984).

In his solo albums, Bruce Dickinson even made a song about crowley, in his song "man of sorrows". He even made a movie about him.

Iron Maiden draws its inspirations from all kinds of sources, mythology, literature, horror, fantasy, history, camp-fire storytelling, etc, etc.

Of all the metal bands out there, they seem to be one of the most into theatrical storytelling with plenty of atmosphere.

If they're satanic? Then toss your Poe, King, Beowulf, Tolkien, into the garbage cans... stop reading fiction and stop watching movies.

The real monsters are you and I throughout history.

You're missing the point. Iron Maiden's singer, Bruce Dickinson, is fascinated by Aleister Crowley, a famous satanist. I used to be a huge Iron Maiden fan (I even went to a few of their concerts), but I stopped listening to their music after realizing that it's not honoring to God.

I watched the documentary, "they sold their souls for rock and roll", by goodfight ministries (I recommend you watch the 10 hr version), and I read about Bruce Dickinson's solo work (he even made a movie about crowley), and I discovered the sad truth about this band. I don't listen to them anymore.

There are a lot things that don't honor God and think about the darkest moments of Christian history where attempts were made to forcibly convert heathens with torture and death as if they sought to reconquer Canaan instead of by the love and grace of God.

People are fascinated with Hitler, does that make them antisemites?

Personally I know very little about Dickinson just know he is an artist, with very lyrical music and I have never detected any subversive anti-Christian and satanic messages in his music.

But there are plenty of songs that explore darker themes but so does literature and movies.

I would like to avoid any unnecessary fear mongering.

.02.cents worth.

If you listen to the lyrics of Moonchild they aren't complimentary to Satan, it speaks about Satan tormenting and attempting to kill the seventh son of a seventh son who is being groomed by the forces of good and evil. Pure fantasy with abit of a theological bent to it.

Bruce Dickinson said that the song "lord of light" is about lucifer, and he also said, "maybe the guy downstairs (ie, the devil) got a rough deal".

Iron Maiden - Making of A Matter of Life and Death - Part 4 - YouTube

Read the lyrics to that song.

LORD OF LIGHT LYRICS - IRON MAIDEN

The lyrics say, "give your life to the lord of light". The lyrics to that song are very satanic and anti-christian.
