Along with everyone else who entered the Catholic Church at my parish tonight. That was pretty special. I didn't know scapulars were similar to religious habits in how they're worn, that's what my priest told us. I thought that was pretty cool. :)

Wow! Congratulations! So are you going to keep the promises made by those that wear the scapular? I know there is a process to it but can't recall what it is. If you know, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Father didn't say anything about promises, we were given these and he prayed a prayer then presented each of us with our scapular. Afterwards he and our other priest were available for confession. That was about it...

These are the materials we got:

Sorry for the time it took to reply. Nice gifts! I'll see if I can find something about requirements. I think it is something similar to consecration to Mary.

All Catholics used to be invested with the scapular at the First Holy Communion. It is why most gift sets for Communion have a scapular. For the basic investiture there are not promises per se. But people are expected to:

Wear and treat the Scapular with respect.
Live a Christian life
Pray either the office of our Lady and the Rosary with regularity.

Maybe I was wrong.

I did find this link though.
Brown Scapular or Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

Maybe just requirements?

@Davidnic ?

I think this is the case at my parish. My pastor automatically enrolls everyone who receives their first communion into the confraternity.
