Did anyone take the plunge and go to Easter Vigil?

I’ve been thinking about it all day. But of course, I could not go. I was just wondering if anyone else went and if so, what was it like in your parish? Have many converts?
I thought about it but I couldn't, got off work at 7 and gotta be back at 10:30 tomorrow. Couldn't do an 8:45-11:45 Mass. I feel bad though cause apparently my wife thought I was meeting them there after I got off work. She and my stepdaughter took the boys cause a friend of ours is receiving her first Sacraments tonight.

I haven't been to one since the year I was Confirmed, it seems like it'd be nice to go to another one but I don't know if I can handle a three hour Mass after a full work day when I gotta be at work again the morning after.

I went to the Saturday Easter Vigil last night if that is what you are talking about (I was actually playing, er, very basic bass guitar (beginner)). But our mass started at 6.00pm and it wasn't a midnight mass.

I went to all of them except Easter Sunday today as I went to my wife's Baptist church for that one. I went to her church on Good Friday as well but there was no conflict as their service was at 8.30am and our Catholic Mass was at 3pm when Christ died.

Our Ash Wednesday was cancelled due to Cyclone Alfred at the time.

On your question of RCIA candidates who were accepted into the church, I believe there were seven. From where I was sitting it was difficult to actually see them, but if my understanding of the newsletter is correct that's the number.

They are all young people.

In Australia most people have Easter off as Friday through to Monday are public holidays.

I did not; still being sick, I didn't go this morning, either. :( Hopefully, if I continue to improve, I will be able to get to confession sometime this week, and get myself back to Mass next Sunday. I really need it....I miss being at Mass terribly, but I have been no shape to go anywhere for three and half weeks, at least. :(

I’ve been sick for some time myself. I’m sooo ready to feel better. To top it off, my niece has been diagnosed with lymphoma. First chemo treatment is Wednesday. :praying:

I was able to go and I was thankful :)

I enjoy the Vigil at my Diocesan Cathedral. I think there were about 7 converts - a mix of catechumens and candidates.

So happy you got to go Lady Bug! :)
It was a bad day and first and I was in danger of not being able to go, but things subsided just enough for me to get a chance. Thank God :)

I went on Easter Sunday, so no. Normally, I go to the vigil every year.

It was about 2 and a half hours, but the parish a mile away was more than 3 hours long because the latter did all 7 OT Readings. However, I didn't want to go to that parish for certain reasons (somehow, I don't feel as comfortable there). I really enjoyed the Vigil though, because the Diocesan Cathedral really knows what it's doing during Holy Week. It's the bomb.

Interesting. I’ve attended many Easter vigils, and I don’t ever recall them doing every single reading.

On Easter vigil, 18 people joined my parish. Glory to God!

That is an answer to prayer as I had been praying that you would get to go.

I felt so good that I could go. I wanted so badly to go to the rest of the Triduum but you know how circumstances prevented me. When I first walked into the EV (about a half hour before it started) and heard the choir rehearsing, I was so happy to hear them - a sense of relief that I was finally where I should be. I wish a certain person would not have told me that he won't let me go next year, but let me wait for some time.

It started at 8:30 PM and was done at 11:00 PM. Not particularly cram packed. We had three baptisms and seven other confirmations. Fairly good. I've heard many other places with more. I'm wondering if Aslan is on the move.

That was definitely the Holy Spirit giving you that wonderful feeling of relief because you WERE where you should be. I am so glad that you got to go, I know how much it means to you. Don't worry about next year, that will take care of itself, just take things a day at a time my friend.
