If it isn’t a threat, why is Pelosi being cautioned about going?

If everything is fine why the warnings?
I didn't say "everything" was fine. I said why escalate an already volatile situation? Why not work for peace instead of trying to bully the oldest empire on planet Earth?

They did make a threat about Pelosi's visit. If they cross the line, it will be time for WW3 but they haven't taken any action yet. If someone threatens you do you punch them in the face or do you wait for them to actually take a swing? I wait until I see action being taken.

The video said that the White House doesn't control Pelosi's travel and she doesn't seek the White House's approval. Now if China goes and bombs Taiwan, we got a reason to take military action.
And if they shoot down Pelosi's plane we don't?

That would be a direct act of war the the military should do what it thinks is best. I just don't think we need to run ship off their coast and try to say we want peace.

They shouldn't tell us that representatives of our government cannot visit one of our allies.

I am willing to risk Nancy and see how serious China is about starting a war.

Sounds good. Let's risk Nancy.

On the video, you posted it said that the USA hasn't acknowledged Taiwan as an independent state but we will help them. I don't know what that means for defending Taiwan against China though any other nation would likely get a pushback from the USA.

Three ways to approach a threat -

Run away from the problem, hope for the best and wait until you get hit - or show strength and avoid getting hit in the first place.

China threatened a person who is third in line to the Presidency. They said if we escort her plane in with fighters (something always done), into airspace that is not theirs, but our allies. We can do one of three things.

1. Show weakness and not go - they scare us off.
2. Intentionally put her in harms way hoping nothing happens
3. Creating and overwhelming protection for her, because we have every right to protect our own.

If China was interested in 'working for peace' they would not have made the threat in the first place.

Or your people could talk to their people without rattling any sabres and discuss matters like reasonable adults. You won't get to know about what they discuss . Don't be offended, but both sides will only tell you what they want you to hear.

Biden misspoke recently and said we would defend Taiwan if invaded

Reasonable adults do not openly threaten another nation for going into airspace that is not theirs.

There is nothing reasonable about their breathing threats against the US.

I guess we'll see what Nancy wants to do.

True - my opinion is that they will cut and run. Find some type of excuse beyond fear of China for her not being able to go.

I could be completely wrong.

Personal opinion - the last time they sabre rattled of an issue the then President moved the 7th fleet in striking distance, and they settled right down.

There's a thought.

Remember, Taiwan is our ally - their airspace is open to the US and China has no rights to it.

This was certainly was not the last time the Chinese state media saber rattled (they do it all the time). It may have been the last time it got press in the US or your attention....

Update-- Pelosi left for Asia yesterday, without specifying if Taiwan would be visited.
However, the WH spokeman's comments today certainly leave that possibility open:

“China appears to be positioning itself to take further steps in the coming days and perhaps over longer time horizons,” White House spokesman John Kirby said. He added: “Nothing about this potential visit — which, oh, by the way, has precedent — would change the status quo.”

That statement followed a more than two-hour call between Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday. During that call, Biden “made very clear that Congress is an independent branch of government and Speaker Pelosi makes her own decisions,” Kirby said.

I suspect that at most, China may "escort" Pelosi's flight into Taiwanese air space - which in of itself, would be a provocation from Taiwan's point of view. It would get interesting if US Navy jets (from the USS Ronald Reagan) escorted the flight.

Aug 2 (Reuters) - A U.S. Air Force plane that may include House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi among its passengers entered the final leg of its journey to Taiwan after departing from Malaysia and taking an extended route that skirted the South China Sea.

Reuters could not immediately establish if Pelosi or her delegation were on flight SPAR19. Pelosi did not confirm if she was visiting the self-governed island, which Beijing claims as its own, but sources earlier told Reuters she was expected to arrive in Taiwan's capital Taipei later on Tuesday.

The plane left Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur at 3:42 p.m. (0742 GMT) on Tuesday and flew east toward Borneo on a route that skirted the South China Sea.

It was last seen north of the Philippines, according to Flightradar24, in the tracking site's most followed flight on Tuesday.
