Just hours ahead of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s planned trip to Asia, Chinese state media has threatened to shoot down her plane and U.S. military pilots escorting her.

The official English translation later provided by the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “Those who play with fire will perish by it.”

Well, we do have all of those missiles just sitting around in silos and that is ONE WAY to reduce the Nuclear Arsenal.

Personal opinion - the last time they sabre rattled of an issue the then President moved the 7th fleet in striking distance, and they settled right down.

There's a thought.

Remember, Taiwan is our ally - their airspace is open to the US and China has no rights to it.

Ah, but Xi’s got an important Party Congress coming up to see if he can talk his fellows into giving him another term as Leader (even though it would require the rules be changed (or ignored) for this to have happen); he will want to project strength, and nothing says strength quite like intentionally assassinating a rival nation’s second-in-line for the “throne”!

The USS Benfold went through the Taiwan Strait recently. It is international waters and airspace. Other military patrols took place there earlier this year.

I saw Biden answering questions and he said the military didn't think it was a good idea for Pelosi to make the trip. That wasn't on Chinese state ran media

no, a show of force to a bully will result in two things IMHO. They back down as they did before or it forces them to communicate their intentions.

To me, it's wreckless to make decisions for your government/military based on newspaper reports. I am positive that if the pentagon knew of a credible threat, they would take action. Showboating isn't a good look either.

The last thing we need right now is a war with China.

If it isn’t a threat, why is Pelosi being cautioned about going?
