Wow, literally demonizing those who disagree with Senior Don.
Hey, it's the new American way! It is now PC to demonize anyone who disagrees with or criticizes Trump. Demonetization and retaliation are now commonplace rallying cries in Trumpian circles.

To criticize Trump is the equivalent of saying you hate America... IMO.

Instead, we should make America Great Again. Together.

For those who are unaware:

.. I am asking huge supporter of this. Currently, I see first hand what's happening on Treasure Island in San Francisco, and am convinced that if it can happen here, it can happen anywhere.

In before this turning out to be just a scam.

$15 Billion And Climbing: Trump’s Tariffs Deliver Record High Revenue

U.S. Customs duty collections soared more than 60% in April, marking the highest monthly revenue haul in terms of dollars in American history.
According to newly released Treasury Department data reviewed by Bloomberg, at least $15.4 billion in customs duties and related excise taxes flowed into federal coffers last month, $6 billion more than the month before. This spike in revenue coincides with the first wave of President Donald Trump’s newly implemented tariffs taking effect. Those include a renewed 25% tariff on steel and the “universal” 10% tariff Trump announced on April 2.
That's not enough to cover the 23B bailouts Trump had to give the farmers the last Trump trade war which was more limited. It will have to be far more this go around to bailout of the same farmers, the billions lost in tourism, and other job sectors that are now currently laying people off due directly because of the trade war.

And what about criticizing Democrats? What is that saying? You suggest if someone criticizes Trump they hate America. And exactly what does one have to do with the other? Are we now living in a totalitarian state where criticizing our leaders is equivalent to treason? You mention that we should make America great again together. When and why in your opinion was America greater than it is now? Do you believe that the only way to make America "great again" is the Trump way or might there be other better ways?

And lest we forget, even with the bailouts, over 2000 family farms were lost to bankruptcy during the last trade war.

You can't have a great America with only service sector jobs being made available. It can't work. We need newly constructed manufacturing hubs, and the only way to do it is to force people to stop buying so many foreign produced products, via tariffs.

...The democrats openly reject this, and under the democrats, the middle class will be completely dead. For good.

Economy-wide, Oxford Economics estimated in 2021 that the tariffs and resulting trade war cost 245,000 jobs and 0.5% of GDP while reducing real incomes by $675 per household. --EconFact

What do they predict the current tariffs will do, say, 20 years from now? Let's talk long-term.... let's talk future...

That doesn't work.
What were the results the last term Trump trade war?
Did anything come back?
No.
It is no coincidence Trump has provided exemption waivers from all the products we import the most from China.
Heck, Trump still has all his hotel amenities, hotel souvenir, shoes, watches and Bibles made in every country but the one called the U.SofA.

They predict a recession. This in the long run is going to hurt the US. As long as there is cheaper labor those US companies are not coming back. China has started decoupling from the US long ago. Other countries like Canada, like Mexico who have seen a trade agreement they made with Trump himself being trashed you can bet are making backup plans. Businesses and countries do think long term, Trump is not. We have heard from Japan say upon negotiations the Trump officials can't articulate what they actually want.

What if Trump offers grants, as incentives, paid for by tariffs, to construct manufacturing facilities in the United States?

I agree that we have become a service sector heavy economy. That said, how do you come to the conclusion that the only way this can be corrected is by forcing people to stop buying foreign made products via tariffs? What about our export economy? Won't it be a factor? What about all the extra cost that will be passed to consumers if all products are made in America, with it's higher wages and production costs? And BTW, you haven't yet answered my questions from the previous post.

Oxford Economics has released their report on the new tariffs. They say the long term effects include a negative impact on both US and global economic growth into the next decade. They report that "Specific sectors like manufacturing and construction are expected to bear the brunt of the tariffs due to rising input costs and uncertainty." While they don't foresee a global recession, they determined that the tariffs increase the risk of a US recession and could lead to a slower global recovery. That's the highlights. the entire report is available on their site if you're interested.

What you mean is taking taxpayer money, since taxpayers pay the tariffs, and use that to build manufacturing just like Biden did with the Chips Act. Didn't Trump poo poo Biden for doing that? Why not do NO tariffs, everyone laid off keeps their jobs. There are no price increases. There are no 401k hits. No businesses shuttered by tariffs. No loss of billions in tourism, and just do that through Congress? You know, like Joe did.

You mention incentives paid for by tariffs. You must remember the tariffs are paid by the American importers. They are not some profit windfall, as many would have you believe. So, is what you are saying is what if Trump recycles the tariff money that the companies have to pay back to those same companies. Kind of circular logic don't you think? And what of the administrative costs that will be lost in this shuffle? Who bears them? The taxpayer, that's who.

The Chips Act was pretty much only for computer chips. It was by no means large enough, in scope, to create the change needed to revitalize our economy in any significant way.

We need a total economic makeover. We need to think BIG.

As the American people living in this time, it is our responsibility to make this country better for the next generation. Even if it hurts... even if it costs us money out of our own pockets.

...Otherwise, we become the jerks who failed.

Point being, it's the same US money being used for the sake of manufacturing without the job losses, retirement losses, and business shutdowns.
You have to think about as a business would which again is why Trump doesn't even bring his manufactured goods back here, does it make business sense? The average production worker pay in Vietnam is 75% less than it is in the states. They practically have to pay no US taxes on offshore revenue. They are literally showing you and telling you they aren't coming back.
